I expect Schweinsteiger to start over Carrick with Carrick coming on for Schweinsteiger late in the game. The rest will be unchanged.

    Rooney
    Memphis --- Janujaz --- Mata
    Schnei --- Schwi
    Shaw --- Blind --- Smalling --- Darmain
    Romero
Hope this is it too, unless Rojo is back, in which case I'd be tempted to swap him for Blind. Other than that this actually looks like a nice line-up. Woulding mind seeing *cough*Welbeck*cough* Wilson in for Rooney if he doesn't book his ideas up, or even just swapping Jan and Rooney around.
Wilson has got a looooooooong way to go to be a sub on for Rooney. Chicha would replace Rooney up front if he continues to fire blanks.

    I'm not sure yet:

Quizzed if Schweinsteiger is ready to start, the boss continued: "Yes, of course. It’s a matter of time. Maybe it shall happen tomorrow. You never know. I think he can still do better because when you are not fit enough then it is difficult to show your highest level. But I think it’s also a matter of time and we have seen a solution in rotating our [second] captain, Michael Carrick, with Schweinsteiger. I think it’s a very good solution because we can spare them both for the big moments."

For me, Carrick's game against Brugge is not the issue, but rather can he play 3 games in 8 days and do well? I don't expect that, and therefore I prefer Bastian tomorrow.

I put him in against Brugge, and I've put him in again for tomorrow. I think LvG taking Carrick off at half time was a huge indication that he might start, but probably won't finish the game.
You do realise Carrick had taken a knock against Bruge. I would like to see Basti start against Newcastle.

Does anyone know where I can watch the game on any Canada channel or some bars in Vancouver centre?

I expected Schweini to start on Tuesday, he didn't and I lost a point. Don't know if I'll put Schweini this time. I'll maybe put Carrick and knowing my luck Schweini will start tomorrow.

    --------------------------Romero------------------------
    Darmian-----Smalling------------Blind----------Shaw
    ---------------Schweinsteiger--Schneiderlein----------
    Januzaj------------------Mata------------------Depay
    ----------------------Rooney----------------------------

Nice to see Hernandez (Rooney) Rojo (Blind) and Herrera (Schweinsteiger) get sub run outs if we get a decent lead

Come on Wayne...get the monkey off the back

I think its a little too early to rotate for the sake of end of season chaos. It is much better if we can get some consistent attacking cohesion and defensive stability over the run of games before tweaking a player or two won't hamper the team. Right now, It is necessary to identify the strongest XI with all the fitness, sharpness and formation sorted.
If Carrick and Schneiderlin start tomorrow and then start again against Brugges, I'd say that's taking a risk already. Schneiderlin himself said he's coming back from an injury.

Your point is valid but I'm just wary for our players because of their history and the physical strain this high work rate possession game is putting on them.

This is crazy but I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Valencia start tomorrow.

How do I provide my prediction for this game? I don't see the option.

I really hope he rotates carrick out for this match. I would personally like to see mata in behind Rooney, januzaj/depay on wings. But with rooney not playing like a no.9, he'll most likely play a quicker player to run through (januzaj).

If Rooney doesnt provide today, I'd like to see chica given a game or two start. Though I have a feeling he'll play well today.

Amazingly I've not been this confident of beating Newcastle for a while, not since that bit of Fergie's era when we thrashed them consistently. I guess it finished round about when Ronaldo left.

It's lovely suddenly getting confident behind the team again.

It's nice going into a match thinking it's unlikely we'll give away silly goals

    Same here.
I think this down to our rock solid defence.
For a rival team to score even 1 goal against us, is not easy.

I've predicted one change from the previous match; Bastian in for Carrick.

    Romero
    Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw
    Bastian Morgan
    Mata Januzaj Memphis
    Rooney

Bastian in for Carrick is the only chsnge needed. I would however like to see Hernandez get a start, his movement would be so much better in this role than Rooney. He could be put through on goal quite easily and rarely messes up his chances.

Even though I've given up on Rooney, I hope he regains form for our sake and I don't want to see him in the No 10 position under any circumstances.

An eye on brugge mid week where I think we will play with three CMs (schmidfield/carrick/Herrera). No change to the back four...we need to get that partnership going barring injuries. No competition yet for Romero so he starts in goal. I figure ander will get his first start of the season, paired with Bastian and januzaj in ten. Morgan will sit out and come in probably 2nd half for adnan, while carrick for Bastian. Mata, Memphis and Rooney keep their spots.
Chicharito will get a chance 2nd half.

I think he may bring Young back into the team today. I'll go for 3-1.

Seen a few draws myself but never a loss. I'm taking this as gospel and betting my house on a United win.

Well that's that sorted then. Wally with the brolly to get his first win as Newcastle manager! :)
Hasn't he got a pretty decent record against us? I remember Middlesbrough being a bit of a bogey team for us back then - they beat us 4-1 in 05/06.

    Our record vs McClaren's middlesbrough

01/02 - 1 win away 1 loss away (FA cup) 1 loss home
    02/03 - 1 win home 1 loss away
    03/04 - 1 win away 1 loss home
    04/05 - 1 home win 1 away win 1 draw away
    05/06 - 1 draw home 1 loss away

So in 12 games vs him, we won 5 and lost 5 and drew 2.

I'd hate to see us start two defensive minded midfielders at home again, but I think LVG would rather play Januzaj or even Memphis in the number 10 role before giving Herrera the nod in that position. It's a shame, because I think Herrera and Mata are a delightful pair to watch, but maybe he doesn't have the full complement of skills to fill the attacking midfield role. The back four ought to remain unchanged, so if Schweini starts, I'd like to see Mata in a number 10 position with Memphis and Januzaj alongside him to support Rooney.

BFS isnt really a holding midfielder..he is a very good 8 and will push foward a lot..He has just replaced Herrera within the formation.

BFS... what does the "F" stand for? Fecking? Fritz?
    Bastian Fecking Schweinsteiger.
In replying to your comment, K2K, I do agree that Schweini is better suited to a central midfield role. This means we can use Morgan in the holding midfield role and have Schweini and Herrera. In such a case, I think they can be an effective combination.
