Guaranteed, if Neymar renews there'll be a meltdown from two types: those who believed this would happen and this who will complain that we wasted time.

The Neymar smokescreen is a masterstroke. Nobody is talking about De Gea.
On one hand, Barca have felt the need to come out and say something, which means there's real interest on our part. On the other hand, I'd rather we weren't interested, as Neymar was never in a trillion years a realistic target. As others have said, we'd probably have more of a chance of signing Ronaldo.

The champions of the eight strongest leagues are pot one, the rest are seeded by coefficient. We're in the same pot as Real, Athletico, City, Arsenal etc. whilst Zenit and PSV are in with the likes of Barcelona, PSG and Bayern.

It looks good on the player's record, but it's a return that can be totally replaced by other players on the team, hence it's a bit stupid to consider it in this kind of comparison. It's effectively a 15 goal handicap for Neymar who doesn't have the luxury to hit them.

There's really no reason for us not to go full retard on this. Offer to make him the best paid player in the world by a margin, we have the money to. That puts barca in an awkward position of potentially having to bump messis wages too (and maybe the racists) once they get wind. It's still extremely unlikely he'll leave of course but if we can feck with them a little why not. It'll also put neymar in a put up or shut up situation

The things you mentioned achieving in your post are a lot more complicated and nowhere near as simple you seem to think they are, however the fact that you are joking suggests you haven't given them a lot of thought which is fine, I can however tell you that it takes a lot more than a word in an agents ear in cases like these for the player or club to be unsettled in anyway.
