Agree/ I have read a number of people complaining that the maps themselves aren't that varied. I don't mind this, as the options you have open to you as to how you achieve things are incredibly varied - and that is one of the most enticing elements in the game.
Yep. This is their first (and only) approach at making it fully open world and I think they have done fine. I am still in Afghanistan and liking it very much. It could do with a little more room and maybe a few more villages but it doesn't absolutely need it to succeed. It's a completely different open world game than something like Witcher or GTA where it was absolutely essential to have a huge world as you'd interact with it a lot and the success of the game would depend on that interaction to a large degree. In MGS you get to spend 95% of your time in hiding anyway and the only interaction you have with vast majority of NPCs is killing them.
