De Gea deal had me giggling all evening yesterday.
Win and thanks to one of my favorite players Blind and of course for that Martial goal. I dont remember celebrating a goal like that in recent times.

Wowsers. After that first half I found myself watching United again. Unbelievable debut goal. Breathing space for the boy now. Liverpool were absolute shite.

Great to have some solidarity in our defence again. I love the bits where they are so in tune with each other, they all know exactly when to push up to make someone offside.

I think Liverpool are shite. Never seen such a collection of mediocre mid table players playing for that club.
Players are fine, direction is non-existent. The only silver lining I can think of tonight is that LvG has now bought himself some time at Utd.

Definitely, it must feel good to get beaten 4 times in a row by this "dinosaur" manager so I understand you not wanting him to leave.

The players are not fine. Just look at your squad and compare it to the squads of the big 4 - you're not even close. For starters, and to quote Gary Neville from today's match, somebody need to tell your defenders that none of them are any good on the ball. They are a shambles. And when you look at the rest of the squad, nobody stands out. It's a sea of mediocrity.

I agree that Skrtel and Lovren wouldn't get into Southampton's team let alone ours (oh the sad irony). But we do have some just about workable alternatives that Rodgers won't touch with a bargepole due to his destructive love of certain players (Gerrard last season, Lovren both seasons). But our midfield and forward line is being criminally used. I now see that he actually should be arrested for the criminal nature.

Klopp (as an example, not saying he'll come) can make a 25% improvement on the first day of training just by farting in the same dressing room that Rodgers has been wasting away.

The next manager will get rid of loads of the current squad. Even Rodgers got rid of about 12 this summer.

Agreed, every manager does. But until the transfer window(s) come along he isn't coming into a disaster area. The only disaster we seem to have will have been fired before that.

Not for me to say being a United fan and all - but do you really believe that? Intellectual honesty and bravery are needed to really assess this because if you don't wishful thinking takes over. Sure its better if its just the manager or ownership who is at fault because that can be fixed - but if the players you've bought are just not good enough (also the managers and ownerships fault I don't deny) then you're in trouble because you need another huge overhaul. Is Ings really a good enough player for Liverpool FC? What about Milner? Skrtl? Lovren? Mignolet? Cylne I rate - but the rest? Just bang average, mid table players.

Difficult for Liverpool. They have not had many top talents and their biggest in recent years decided to leave.

To be fair to Carragher he talked some sense at the end of the game and questioned why Rodgers is still playing with 1 up front after adding Origi, Ings and Benteke this summer, rather than wingers.

We had a pretty great spell for about 6 months under him in the first season, yeah. Looks shockingly similar to what we had to endure in his second season though.
How close is Pep to Van Gaal do you think in terms of the strictness in positional play? At times, is your play ever as bad as ours can be?

Liverpool will roll over is. Benteke with a hat trick.
    First post

The first half was as drab as I've come to expect, but damp that 2nd was brill. Super dave with his super saves twice again. Perfect set up for blinds goal. Herrera gets one. Martial starts his career here off like a rocket.
And to be fair bentekes goal was superb, don't even mind letting one of them in.

Still concerned about how flaccid we are in attack though when memphis isn't performing and rooney isn't up front (thought fellaini was shocking, controls the ball like a lame horse sometimes).

Carrick and Morgan swapping positions from bench and starting line-up basically ruined my prediction line ups and cost me 5 points. Shame on such a great day. Really pleased for Martial though. The boy can make an impact this season.

Fellaini is not a striker. He is too slow, makes bollocks first touches, will be called foul whenever he jumps or moves. He is not even in the box.
Van Gaal must see some sense. Cancel Wilson loan and rush him here.

Yep, you visualize more arse-whooping of Liverpool by LVG's army in your "Bigger Picture". Or this is again one of your many failed attempts at trolling/WUMing here. But, you won't admit it as usual.
Not wumming, going by what I keep reading in the numerous LvG threads after games like Swansea and Newcastle. He can't play us every week.

What happen to your theory about being much better without Gerrard? :smirk: You lot are more porous that ever in the middle of the pitch.

Nice to see De Gea remind everyone exactly why we're paying him a lot of money. Didn't have much to do but when he did he was excellent.

I'm off to watch the video of Martin Tyler's commentary on Martial's goal 100 more times now.

Good point. We should be a lot better but there's something not right at the club (obviously).

I've just watched the second half I recorded (fck the first half apparently we were both worse than shit) and how open was the Utd defence? I didn't think Liverpool were all that in the second half but they were carving chances open. Ings, Firmino, Ibe, Benteke's open header miss, Benteke's goal. Clearances needed off the line. All in one half.

Swansea and Gomis would have had a field day.

*disclaimer: Liverpool are worse than Swansea and I can conceivably see them finishing below Swansea if Rodgers is not replaced by Klopp very soon.

I don't think we've ever had an easiest stroll against Liverpool.

You've got some major issues there

Two words to sum up this Liverpool team.

I've already said that about our issues. You've probably had one of the worst PL teams on current form turn up at your place.

Was just stating what I saw of the second half. I thought we were dreadful, yet most of the heart in mouth moments were with De Gea and off the line clearances. What Benteke was doing not burying that easy header (Gomis, etc, won't be or haven't been so forgiving) still has me scratching my head. Not saying we would have or could have won. Just saying a poor team like yesterday's Liverpool should not have created those goal chances.

when you looked at the values of a lot of the players out there yesterday, 20-30millions all round, he;s probably the only player signed for what he's worth.

    guarantees mediocrity

I fear for them with Henderson, Milner and Can as any kind of combo. shocking.

Not sure the Benteke goal was a golden chance either. Just fantastic tekkers.
it's always interesting with those sort of shots, never seems to be a question of high feet.

Yet you gently lift your feet up to waste level elsewhere on the pitch and it's a definite foul, especially in Europe.

Yet you're allowed to basically do a wild jumping kick in the air!
