Thought our general play was fine, the link up between Martial and Depay was the main positive. The only negative for me is our clinical edge, Mata should have just tore the net open with that ball in from Schweinsteiger.

Look away games are never easy in Europe, we've got to make sure we bounce back with a victory at Old Trafford against Wolfsberg. I said it in the Champions league thread in the newbies, the fixtures haven't been kind, away on the opening game and then our most difficult home fixture to follow. We then travel to Moscow, we could realistically be looking at one point from three games if we don't become more clinical.

Still want to smash some windows because of losing Shaw.

I think that we didn't do nothing much wrong except for not taking the feeeeckin chances!! and that proved to be the difference.

Martial was a big big positive for me. Once he gets used to our play and PL, he'll fly.

And leave LVG alone ffs. At least this time as this one is totally on the players.

I really thought Carrick should have started today. Or Schneiderlin. We looked far too vulnerable and even though we had so much of the ball, they looked like scoring whenever they broke.
He is rotating them for the weekend. Southampton is the tougher game. We had enough out there to win this game. Finishing was not good today.

We lost a football match to a side that lost to Ludogorets 2-0 at home.

No 2 games are the same, I get that. But our side was clueless and vapid. Tell me that wasn't the case.

Footballers get injuries. Everyone knows that which is why most don't leave themselves with a fairly average target man to be our best source of chasing a goal. The Shaw isn't really relevant to that. We dominate games like that all the time. And Van Gaal signed most of those players.
We had all the chances and all the fire power to win, we take 30% of our chances we win. The players cost us, not van gaal.

"Win your home games, pick up what you can away".

We were the better team and conceded to their only two half-decent moments.

It wasn't a perfect performance from us, but I think we showed some progress today.

Could have easily won that match on another day. Not a bad performance overall but several players doing badly at key moment. Luke Shaw injury is what i am most concerned about.

We were the better team and should really have won but I really hate our complete lack of tempo at the end of games when we're behind. We should be hammering them and we seem to slow down our play if anything.

Our lack of options on the bench also seems quite apparent at the moment.

Aside from that, absolutely gutted about Shaw.

Referee was really frustrating.

Wonder how those who hated control and wanted attacking football liked tonight?
I didn't mind it until we completely stopped doing it when Fellaini come on. I'd rather lose having a go than the way we ended this game and played against Swansea.

One of the bigger champions league shocks this season.

Let's face it, PSV aren't a good team, they are an OK team.

We simply do not have a plan B and for over a year it's not been addressed by LVG.

Gonna throw it out there, Marital looks like a pub player

Is it any wonder that Van Gaal prefers to stifle the whole game than let us play with a bit of vim and vigour? We concede stupid fecking goals and are taken apart on the break when we try going forward with freedom.

And to be fair it's hard to fault anybody today for my liking. LVG set up a very offensive-minded team, we played some nice football today but probably bottled it mentally, and can't really fault lads for it seeing how Shaw got his fecking leg snapped in half.

Only person to blame for today is that shitc**t ref and Moreno being a fecking scum.

In an apple vacuum...
Thought we played well for good chunks of that but were punished by two errors. Martial was decent and Memphis at times looked good, took his goal well. Obviously losing Shaw is gutting but we'll have to move on from it.

In the context of the group, it's a bad start and we need to win at home to Wolfsburg now. Hopefully after the two CSKA games we'll be on 7 points and well placed to qualify. Confident we can beat PSV at home.

Just hoping for some good news on Shaw - the football seemed less important after that

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
Just sickening really. Can only think about Shaw.

And how that cnut wasn't sent off and a penalty awarded is a mystery.

Not arsed about the rest. We actually played well but lost organisation at the back (predictably) and some usually composed players (Mata) lost it at a critical times.

If we'd had a proper striker then maybe we would've taken some chances. Just a thought.

In everybody's lives you have the good days, the bad days and the truly ugly ones. This day felt like it was almost destined to be the latter one. To lose Shaw to such a bad injury was a major setback, to concede an equaliser to the player who snapped his leg was a sick joke but then to go behind after creating so many chances in the first hour was scandalous. Unfortunately BT Sport 2 went down for straight after PSV's second so I refused to vote on players.

Big disappointment to lose, especially in these circumstances but we needed to be more ruthless in front of goal when it counted because we did tear them apart at the end of the first half. Best wishes to Shaw on his recovery, they can take anywhere between 6 weeks and 6 months so let's hope that it can be healed quickly.

Sorry, but I stopped reading when you said Mata wasn't shite. It was one of his worst performances u have seen in any shirt. He's a very good player but not saying he was poor today is ludicrous.
Did you think that about the first half too?

Most of all I feel gutted for Shaw as everyone else.

Really hard to take any positives from tonight because of that injury. It's just depressing.

I'm sure we'll progress though and I hope Moreno enjoys the atmosphere at Old Trafford.

Even 2-1 down I thought we were playing well.

Then Van Gaal panicked and brought on Fellaini. From being boxed into their own area PSV were suddenly able to play out. Basti tired without support and PSV should've scored again.

Had we continued to play the way we did before the second half subs we'd have won. Don't understand Van Gaal's lack of faith in his own philosophy. He resorts to hoof ball at the first sign of danger.

Terrible night all around. We started well, were playing quick and making chances, then Shaw gets the horrific injury. Rattled for a few minutes as you'd expect, then we regain control, score a really nice goal, miss a few glaring chances and then the cnut who shouldn't be on the pitch scores (or Blind og really, as Young would have cleared it). Second half we start well, they get a lucky break, score, and then the last 30 minutes were just poor from us.

We don't know how to play when chasing a game I think. You need to take risks and nobody was doing that really. Half of them looked knackered as well and could barely move the last 10 minutes. Just an awful night.
SAF just used to pack the team full of wingers and forwards to circumvent other issues within the squad, van Gaal could learn a trick or two there.

Better than you do, that much's obvious.

Outplaying a team doesn't consist of kicking the ball around a lot, having a lot of possession and running really fast. PSV had a strategy which completely had us falling apart at the seams. Every team all the way down to League 2 I bet know that all they have to do is put a lot of numbers into the box because we have nobody that can take a shot. Then all they have to do is break and score, which we also fall apart on. They had a strategy we currently have no answer to and they executed it perfectly, meanwhile we never started playing.

They won 2-1 against our billion pound squad. Yes, I'd say they played us off the pitch.
Waiting for Darmian to make an error? Such strategy. Much outplayed. Wow

I'm really assuming this is a joke, because he looked very good in my opinion. Raw, obviously. But fantastic first touch and clever on the ball.

We're just not a very good attacking team. Martial looks good, seems to have confidence in his ability.
This result puts us under pressure for the other two away CL fixtures.
At least City lost, at home

We're not good enough not to have Carrick or Morgan on the pitch. We can't take the risk. However for a while I was entertained before we went to pieces.

I think that's a bit harsh. Lucky deflection for their first goal. Before that they didn't trouble us. They had a few more chances then when we puhed forward after they equalized.
We've conceded several soft goals this season. The two tonight were soft, the second Swansea goal, even their first was a simple goal from a break away. We can't be that vulnerable.

There was still a lot of good aspects to the performance tonight. I'm so frustrated we didn't get what we deserved. One of those nights. Damnit!

Not sure if it was the case. Judging from his interviews, players that could improve us (Muller, Neymar, Bale) just not available.
Anyway, if he must buy world class player to make thing work, I'm not sure about this philosophy anymore. Has anyone ever ?
I really don't get how anyone thinks only those three players could have improved our attack. Our RW options at the start of the season were a #10, a winger who is currently at best a back up RB and Young. How can it be that there is no player between that and Bale?

feck the match, i'm more annoyed about Luke Shaw. We finally look good with a settled back 4, with a left back who looks set to become the leagues best, and the old curse hits again.

We should've led the game in the first half.
We should've had a penalty and been up 1 man.
Very disappointed to see Shaw pick up a serious injury.

The problem was that once they went ahead, they parked the bus and as per usual, we can't score beat teams who park the bus. This has happened to us so many times now, its become a joke.
For any opponent - 'park the bus & counter attack' and get a draw or win against MUFC. Try and "play" us, and we usually beat those teams.

These are the nights that I'd loved to have seen Di Maria play. He hated playing the minnows on cold days, but the CL nights are where the biggest players show their class.
A frustrating game all around.

I agree Van Gaal is due some criticism. We played well the whole game, then with 15 minutes left we stopped and brought on Fellaini and lumped it to him, completely losing our threat and making it easy for them.
