Neither side finding much rhythm, all a bit scrappy in midfield. Keepers not seeing much action, two well matched, well drilled teams really. At the moment it looks like the first goal's going to come from a mistake or a setpiece.

Rojo and Martial doing well. Mix of good and bad for everyone else.

Jones has a peanut for a brain.

Other than that astute observation, I thought we played this half like we usually do. Some passing around, nothing in the final third and everything coming from some Martial bursts of football.

Rooney has been much better than Bony. Though nobody here will agree.

I agree. However, he has been mucking up the easy stuff. A couple of long passes and he has just well over hit them.

    just read this:

"Manchester United have failed to have a single attempt on goal in the first half at Old Trafford, the first time this has happened since Opta began collating stats in 2006."

we do like breaking records don't we :smirk:

I don't think city look more dangerous really. They've had a few shots and we haven't, but we've played some decent football and been close to making a very good chance on a few occasions.

It's been cagey..if it keeps going this way then a scoreless draw but could be decided by a moment of individual skill.. or a mistake :nervous: They've looked slightly more likely to make something happen though.. .

fairly even match so far, us with more of the ball but we need to break them down soon as they look threatening when they do attack.

I've always been critical of Rooney but he really hasn't done much wrong this game. I think it'd be unfair to single him out but that said I'd love to see Martial having a run in the centre now. Kompany's yellow card is a blessing we need to exploit.

Rojo will be taking de Bruyne out of his pocket tonight if he continues in this vein.

Forget shots on target, we haven't had a single shot. When was the last time that's happened?
I am sure the genius that is David Moyes managed to make that happen a few times.

First time since Opta have been collecting data that United have failed to register an attempt in a half of football!!!

Rojo and Valencia have done great. KDB and Sterling haven't been able to get going.

Only had one corner and that was in injury time. I've got this down for a 0-0 and it hasn't disappointed with both teams cancelling each other out.

This has been one of Rooney's best game for us this season, and we're slowly getting into the groove of the game.

feck everyone that says we're not threatening, we're defending well and we've gotten their defence in the shit hole when we actually attack them with some pace. If we turn up the pace more often in the second half, their defenders on yellows will be in big trouble.

City are clearly the more dangerous side. At home, in a derby, and we don't have a single shot on target. Only Martial has the willingness and ability to take his man on. The rest of our side looks to pass it sideways and backwards. We might have good possession numbers but we don't look the more likely to score. Mata and Herrera find good positions but when they get the ball they only look for a pass and never to drive the ball forward. It just isn't working. We might be a side that is difficult to beat, but we sure aren't an attacking minded side.

I think we look in control of the game and Martial's the player most likely to score. Their strength is their attack and ever one of them has been nullified. That's a great achievement in itself.

Very entertaining half. I was shocked when i saw the time at 40mins. Didn't even know we've burn that much time. feck the metric of entertainment. It's not a lab, it's football.

    My thoughts exactly

We've played okay so far. Can't say a half where we haven't had a shot a good performance, but it's okay. I am frustrated that we seem to be over-complicating things once we get close to the box. Seem to be always looking for a pass rather than taking a shot. City looked very cautious anytime Martial is on the ball.

Why are there lines on the pitch? Was there a rugby game?

Yeah it was the super league grand final a couple of weeks ago.

We have been solid all round its that final pass which is lacking. Herrera is getting in some great positions we are just forcing it a little bit.

Sign Mané, drop Rooney, put Martial upfront with Herrera in behind.
