Entertaining half. Everyone has been OK, not great, but not bad as well.

Looking through your Rooney hating tinted glasses maybe – I saw a great chance created by our captain marred only by the fact that Martial was not onside
So Martial should've just walked alongside the defence until Rooney decided it was time to pass, only to have to dribble past the defenders, instead of just running past them and getting a correctly timed ball?

I think Rooney's been okay, we are play well, just need to get through the middle rather than cross it in, or bring on Young and Fellaini if we are to continue like this

City are clearly the more dangerous side. At home, in a derby, and we don't have a single shot on target. Only Martial has the willingness and ability to take his man on. The rest of our side looks to pass it sideways and backwards. We might have good possession numbers but we don't look the more likely to score. Mata and Herrera find good positions but when they get the ball they only look for a pass and never to drive the ball forward. It just isn't working. We might be a side that is difficult to beat, but we sure aren't an attacking minded side.

Martial, take a bow son. So calm and assured at the age of 19 in a heated derby.

I imagine this must be quite the excruciating borefest for a neutral.

I am sick with nerves though, scrappy games like this are killing me. If one ball falls rights for them, the task will look uphill. It works both ways though, of course.

Absolutely nothing in it. City seem slightly more dangerous, perhaps. Mata and Rooney both need to do more in the final third. Schneiderlin seems to freeze every time he crosses the halfway line, as good as he is in our own half.

Both teams should be happy with that.

City obviously here for the counter, but are only really looking for kdb as an outlet. He is largely in Rojo' pocket.

United look good on the ball, Herrera being marked out of the game. Only concern is Jones, just does not know what to do with the ball.

Still think we are in more control than City.

Rooney has been decent whilst not threatening. I would still like to see Martial up front and I wonder if Louis has the courage to actually do that, or the wisdom.

Schneiderlin has had a bit of a nightmare

Rojo has been excellent and Martial keeps showing he is the most talented player in our team. He seems to have confidence the rest of the team have lacked for 2 and a half years now.

United need to show some more penetration in the second half

Although often good in possession, a bit toothless up front

Unfair to expect Martial to do everything

United v City is only the 2nd PL game this season not to have a shot on target in the 1st half, along with United v Liverpool.

The line up decisions were good, so far. Valencia is quick on the right side, much quicker than his opponent, and Rojo is dealing well with KdB. However, there is a lot of kick and rush in the middle from both teams. Good to have Schweinsteiger on the pitch, who is made for this turmoil.

We spend a lot of money to get a left winger who is not that much better than Nani. ;) Which means: Get Martial in the middle, please.

Generally... we must do better against a City team missing important players. That's like a B version of city and we still have trouble.

    I am optimistic.

Very scrappy, but not boring despite a complete lack of chances. It's an interesting battle at a pretty high tempo. We'll need something special to win it, let's hope one of our lads can produce it.

Back 4 has been good especially Rojo, midfield ok. Herrera has no influence and Mata too, he had a shocking giveaway and an awesome touch. Rooney poor. Martial godlike. The only one who is making things happen.

They have not been clearly the most dangerous side, they had attempts bit none of them were proper chances.

We're lacking something out there. Actual attempts on goal. So much decent possession but very little to show for it. We need to be sharper in our play up front. When Valencia get's it, his crosses haven't really amounted to much while Martial is threatening with his pace but hasn't found an opening yet. A bit more movement and running in behind is needed.

Forget shots on target, we haven't had a single shot. When was the last time that's happened?

I think the fact that Martial expected the ball played to him pretty quick, combined with the fact that Rooney needs at least 5 seconds to bring a ball under control, meant that by the time Rooney was ready Martial was 5 yards offside.

Rojo catching the eye thus far. Nervy stuff - looking like one mistake could decide it.

He made a run, then stopped running because he was offside. By that time it was too late to check back. Didn't really do much wrong
Rooney should have released it earlier or took on the shot! It was Rooneys mistake but he's not been as bad as some are making out as its a very tight game.

We have been very good in all aspects. City defending well to contain us. Rojo robbing Sheikh Mansour's £54m. Has KdB in his pocket

I cant quite believe how boring United are these days: surely the amount of TV games you get will be decreased in the future if this keeps up.

If LvG's unwilling to sub Rooney, at least have them switch places or something. Rooney just absorbs most of our attacks at the moment.

Another halve of football that's past Wayne Rooney by. We need to play Anthony Martial through the middle to stretch the City defence with the pace of Memphis out side.

We need to get Martial centrally, and set him up against Kompany. Martial's ability with the ball, coupled with Kompany's headless chicken syndrome, will see the latter sent off before long.
