It finishes goalless and it looked like that kind of match from early on. It was a very even contest from start to finish, with chances at a premium.

United were better in the second-half, pushing City back and asking more questions of their defence. It wasn't until the closing minutes that they managed to test Joe Hart. Lingard hit the bar and then the England goalkeeper had to save from Chris Smalling.

Both sides will be relatively satisfied with a point but it means United are now down to fourth, two points behind joint leaders Man City and Arsenal.

Lack that little bit of luck, in second half there was only one team on the pitch.

We should have won that, we were by far the better team but held back by being ultimately toothless.

Put Martial in #9 it would have been a different story.

Solid result, we were the better team overall and it's the end of a tough run of games on the back of an away trip in Russia too.

Decent result, we dominated play but look absolutely hopeless up front. The sooner Louis shows the bravery to play Martial up front at Rooney's expense the better.

Super organised and superb defensive team performance, Tony and Rojo exceptional.

We need another Martial in our attack though, and Memphis is more likely than Rooney to do something positive.

First half was just awful, thought we really stepped it up in the 2nd.

City's defence did so well, and it was clear that they were happy with a point today. If only that Lingard chance went in :(

Shameful 2nd half performance.

Van Gaal and these players not interesting in winning the league this year.

City were there for the taking. How many opportunities do you get to take 3 points from your closest rivals without their 2 best players.

Were the better side, City came here to snatch a draw.

Better team I felt, Rooney being in the team and pushing Martial to the left makes us very unthreatening though. Need Memphis to get his shit together ASAP.

Once again our worst player survives till the match. We could have won the game if we had wanted to.. Instead of trying to appease our captain.

Unlucky not to get 3 points there I thought, though it was an even game. Second half we were the dominant team without a doubt though. If only we had 2 Martial's to have on the wing and up front...

Well that was a bit crap. We really should be able to beat an Aguero and Silva-less City at home. But nevertheless, we're not far off the top, and that's all that matters at this point.

Are we getting better on the ball as a team? I saw some really nice technical play from our defenders all over the pitch. Control, movement, tight passing. We just need to add a little more flair and I believe that will come when we replace Rooney.

We played really well in the second half. That Lingard chance is going to haunt me, would have been a fantastic goal. Unlucky.

City can be happy with their point. I would have taken the draw before the game and it's not too bad a result. Rojo, Smalling, Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger were all excellent.

Very solid Rojo very good, Martial showed his class but does need to improve in crossing positions

You were the better team, City look like they came to snatch and grab. Martial is such a good player, frightening to think he's only 19.

Defensively sound from us. Neither team really offered anything much in attack but one of those teams has (arguably) the Premier League's two best attacking players out. Rooney up front makes most of our attacks pointless.

Eh, would have liked the win. But no reason for a meltdown.

At least our next 2 games are Middlesborough and Palace.

We should have won. City played for a draw and created nothing, we stifled ourselves again by putting our best attacking player on the wing and having Rooney slow down time every time the ball got to his feet.

LVG bottled it second half because of his love for all things Rooney. The change was obvious, Rooney off for Memphis who has been no worse than Wayne this season and yet has been frozen out of the side.. With Martial through the middle.

Performance was okay, result isn't great. We end the week behind fecking West Ham.

We would look so much more dangerous with Martial in the middle, and one of Young or Depay on the left. Sigh.

Anyway - thought defensively we looked great - Jones and Rojo had great games, and Schneiderlin shielded them well. Never really looked that threatening - we were better in the second half mind.

Not sure if Martial or Henry. The boy was excellent today. That ball for Lingaard was something people like Mata and Herrera should've been attempting all game.

Probably a fair result and an entertaining 0-0.

Lingaard was cm's away from deciding it but ultimately we didn't create enough clear cut chances. Nor did city come close to taking theirs.

Another underwhelming performance from Rooney offensively but his team work defensively was good.

Rojo and Schmidfield were superb. Valencia likewise till his removal

Time for Martial to go back up top. That boy is something special.
