Post-match discussion

Not bad, I would have taken a point before the match. I thought we were very disciplined at the back, it was excellent to stop a free scoring City side from having any clear cut chances. If we defend like that for the rest of the season we will be right up there. Going forwards we didn't create much but it was the type of game where you would only get one or two chances, unfortunately Lingard hit the crossbar and Hart made a good save against Smalling late on. I think we deserved the win, but I'll take the draw.

Unlucky not to nick it in the second half, Martial needs to play up front. Rojo a was the best player on the pitch, had KDB in ha pocket all match.

We're playing very well with 10 men. Rooney is just so far off the pace of the rest of the team and its killing our creativity. He has to be dropped.

City weren't even trying in the second half. Total dull affair, it was like playing against a Mourinho team. However I understand their stance they can be perfectly happy with a point.
We didn't take enough risks. Rooney is finished I have to say. City is his favourite opponent and he was unable to produce anything of note.

Better team today but the match never really got going aside from a 10 minute period in the second half. Good defensive displays from both sides but no one offered that much going forward.

Feel like we could have won it as we had the best chances, Smalling and Lingard etc.

2 points off the top having played City, Liverpool, Spurs at home and Arsenal, Everton away. Not too bad.

I usually don't criticize Rooney but that performance was abysmal.

Good performance. Should have won it with a decent striker up top.

Rooney needs to get the feck out of the club. Pub player.

Good team performance especially defensively I thought we bossed the game. If we had a half capable striker we probably win it. Martial is good on the wing problem is we need him too much as a striker. He can't do everything.

Really shit result. At home, 70% of the ball, against a weakened opposition. Poor result.

After all that travelling during the week and one days preparation for this game are we entirely surprised at the result. I am more surprised City didn't show more.

Failed to exploit lack of Aguero and Silva. Disappointing result.

Also 15 goals after 10 matches. Not too promising in a supposed title campaign.

We were the better team but that is to be expected considering that we were at home while they didn't had their best two players.

I am genuinely sick of this Rooney at the center nonsense. Either Van Gaal is a complete idiot or he has that big ego that cannot go back on his nonsense words 'my captain shall always play'. It is hurting the entire team.

You'd have thought City were playing with ten men for most of the second half. Good performance from us.

I can't argue with the control we have over matches at the moment. But attacking wise there simply isn't enough to get the pulse racing. It does feel like we deserved a bit more from that as we were the better team.

And yes, unfortunately I must join those who say Rooney's a burden we cannot carry any longer.

Technically, he was so far behind any other member of our front six it's not even funny. Should have been him coming off instead of Mata when Lingard came on.

If we had a half descent striker we would have won this match. Defense and midfield were very good today but Mata and Rooney were abysmal and the main reason we only got 1 point.

The way we dominate big teams (bar Arsenal) is truly impressive. We do it so regularly that it is obvious something we're very good at through coaching and tactics. If we can improve in the final third by creating and finishing chances, we truly are looking at a top, top team. It really isn't easy to push teams like City back deep like that for that long.

We did well IMO, our energy levels was impressive considering the European trip we had. Shame we didn't win. We should move the ball quickly like this.

Good result... Controlled the game in the 2nd half but my god that was bloody dull. That's meant to be two of the best teams in this country? And both teams who have spent a lot of money? Blimey if that's the best they can produce!

A clean sheet for us and a dominate 2nd half performance but it wasn't pretty to watch. And this persistent use of Martial out wide needs to stop. He needs to be in the thick of things because when he is he's able to create problems.

Poor in the attacking third and not incisive enough. The set-up of the front 4 hamstrung us

That game has taken a lot out of me. Not surw I can watch anymore football today. Solid result. We were marginally better but little in it.

I'm happy with how we contained them, we were great defensively, and overall we were the better team, but i'm a little disappointed attacking wise.

Very disappointing not to have won. Lingard and Smalling both very close.

We were the better team.

They'll be happier, being away and missing their best two players.

De Bruyne and Sterling were gash for them though.

We were good defensively but very poor attacking. Only Martial had a decent game really up top.

Not very good. City happy with the point. United very limited up front. Then when nothing happens LvG's solution is to put on the hoofball man. Who comes off is always a toss up between the Spaniards.

I thought that Lingard on for Mata was a loss of brainpower. Did feel like that. I think Mata would have killed the ball and passed it to Rooney instead of poking it at goal.

It was a tense game that was ultimately a bit disappointing.

Rooney and first touch should be banned in the same sentence.

He was horrible again today.

We should have won that, we were by far the better team but held back by being ultimately toothless.

Put Martial in #9 it would have been a different story.

Couldn't agree more. We are shooting ourselves in the foot playing with Rooney upfront.

Even from wide on the left wing Martial is doing everything for us in attack. Imagine if he was upfront and we had a decent left winger. Probably would mean no Herrera then.

I'm telling you, watch how our attack is going to improve once Rooney is out of this team.

We are not winning anything as long as rooney is up front.

Everything did not happen for him and it killed our chances
