Is that our strategy? Did we sign even one player last summer who could be described as one of the world's best players? Schweinsteiger was once one of the world's best players, I guess. Does that count though? Is our strategy to buy aging former stars?If this season has proven anything so far, it's that the approach of "only" settling for the worlds best players is a method that carries tons of risk.
Not knocking our signings, I think most of them are useful players that will develop into very good players in time. I only quoted this because in another thread someone just said Woodward is bent on signing Galacticos, which seems like a similar kind of remark. I dont see it. Just because we have become more active in the transfer market, I dont see that we have started buying at the very top end of the market.
