I don't really care if we win tbh. I almost feel like it's a preseason game.
Will you care if you go out? Or will you care if United play next season in a group with Bayern and Real Madrid?

I won't care if we get knocked out. Getting out of the Europa League early may actually be a good thing as it just reduces the amount of games we have to play. I obviously want United to get into the CL though. JI just think that focusing on the league is the best way of achieving that.

Too pissed off about getting knocked out of the Champions League to care too much about this competition, although I obviously still wanna win it.

Rooney might get to twenty goals this season after all.

LVG will make them look like Barca.

My bet is we'll go through on pens.
Nah we'd probably stuff that up as well !

Could never get that mentality ?? Playing games in the Europa League is a distraction from the League but playing in the Champions League isn't ?? It's a sorry state of affairs when the biggest club in England is worried about playing in too many competitions...even though we're supposed to have 25 players ! I want us to be challenging in any and all competitions and having a right go. There can only be one Premier League champion and it ain't gonna be us every year...and I wouldn't want it to be either.

I just hope van Gaal takes it seriously and not humiliate the club any further. It may be our only route to the Champions League next season as top four certainly is not a given !

No it isn't a given which is a joke.

I think the CL is a distraction but it's worth it. You're playing against the best in the world and I kinda think it's more important than the PL actually. The EL is just a poor runners up competition. It's more games than the CL, often further away in the arsehole of nowhere in small stadiums at inconvenient times and days. The CL is the epitome of club football imo while the EL is worth about as much as the League Cup and involves a lot more effort and time.

Also, if we can't qualify for the CL through the league, we deserve not to be there.

Bah. Play the kids, hope for no injuries, probably get eliminated. Win-win for all.
I hate this mentality. Why shouldn't we want to win it all? The goal for United is always to win everything we participate in and for me this is no different. It will be good for our coefficients and if we manage to win well that's another way to get a Champions League spot.

So in their six group games they scored six and let in double that.

We should easily score at least one against them.

I'm not confident about us beating anyone right now. I actually think Mitjylland will beat us at home and could easily get a draw at OT and they're awful.
Well you're being incredibly pessimistic if you think that. A wonder we're not fighting relegation, let alone 4th in the league eh?

Our bad form is almost entirely due to injuries. Normally we're a good side, just not that good attacking wise, and certainly not exciting. That doesn't mean we aren't a good overall side though.

Still laughing at Scousers.
The joy of Europa in the new year. This league has all the makings of being another record calamity. If not against this lot against the Scouses or Leverkusen with our old friend. Goody, can't wait especially as we might be fielding the under 18s.

Can easily see us going out on penalties, having drawn 0-0 twice. We need to get shot of Van Gaal to stand a chance.

We should take it serious. Form is form no matter what game it is.

You cant turn off one game and expect to be switched on in another game.

Fair enough. That's, however, exactly the short-sighted mentality that will cost England the 4th CL spot in the near future. Moreover it is what would manifest United being overtaken in the UEFA coefficient ranking by many other clubs - you're currently 20th. If you drop out by now, United will end up in pot 3 next season if you qualify for CL, which decreases your chances to get out of the group stage again.

That's not true from the KO stage onwards. For a club like United, it should be actually much more manageable to play the league and the EL and progress in both.

Look at the state of our squad. We're stretched to the limits as it is. We don't have the players to compete on multiple fronts this season. In terms of CL qualification, I'd say our chances of qualifying through the league (if we focus on it) are far greater than by winning the EL.

Ideal draw for us really. Put the first team out in the first game and hopefully get a good win, which means we can rest players in the second leg.

If the home leg had been the week before I'd have gone but that week is out.

Can't believe they decided to sign Nikolay Bodurov from Fulham. He's absolute garbage.
