That ref is an idiot. I do agree that City were fairly shit. But great win nonetheless. Smalling was epic.

Loving the chemistry / bond between likes of Rashford, lingaard etc.

You can tell it means loads to them as young local lads.
It was great to see in the end Rashford, Mensah and Lingaard together celebrating.

In overall - I guess the performance was decent but the opponent was really terrible. If we'd be a proper side, we would have slaughtered them. But right now - I don't care. 3 points and win over City - I'm happy!

Get the absolute feck in. Watched the second half on a small shitty TV, that is what the Derby is all about making sure you can see it. We defended like beasts in the second half City didn't even get a real sniff. Also Wilfried Bony how on earth have City payed 30m for that guy. Outrageous really.

That performance by Martin Demichelis made William Prunier look world class.. Great result, now for a change can we take this chance we've got instead of squandering it as we have done all season.

This has really made my weekend. I can't even begin to describe how much better I feel about the world.

Martial and Rashford were incredible. Mata and Lingard, very good. It was the front four that impressed me the most today (front five if you include Demechelis).

In defence, only Smalling looked United level. Aguero is one the best players in the world but he was marshalled brilliantly all game. Darmian, Rojo and Blind need to look at themselves.

It's always great to beat City but it's hard to get overly excited when we all know it's not these matches we've struggled with, it's the West Brom, Sunderland, Norwich types that have ruined our season.
This is why I'm not getting too excited. Good result though.

We gave it everything and that's all we can ask for, what a goal from Rashford, he was ripping them apart and got robbed of a clear cut pen!

1 point off top 4 just shows anything can happen!

Oddly enough I was never really worried that we'd concede.

Good performance. Schneiderlin was a definite upgrade over Fellaini. Martial was always dangerous and the boy Rashford was lively all game.

Demechelis is a shambolic player. City fans must love him.

This Premier League season has been ridiculous. We've been consistently inconsistent yet we are only a point off top four.

So good brilliant win we needed it more than ever. Top 4 still within reach now from that result but only just, we always fluff it against the crap teams whereas city are flat track bullies and blow teams like Norwich etc away.

LVG's notebook
City 26 shots, 3 on target
Utd 5 shots, 4 on target

This just summarises LVG's philosophy. This is his archetypal game, where we make something of each chance, half-chance even.

Delighted for Rashford - his play belies his years. What a gem we have on our hands. Some of the link-up play between him, Lingard and Martial was awesome.

If not for the bottler Oliver, we could've made this a much more comfortable victory. Though he did even out that bottle-job with the non-sending off of Smalling.

I'm just praying this isn't another false dawn.

Each game on its merits and I think that was a tremendous away performance. We were excellent first half and denied a stonewall pen. Rashford - what a little legend.

Still in with a shout of top 4 if we can get our shit together for last 8 games. Well done lads and let's hope this is not another false dawn.

I would have been absolutely livid if that non penalty call cost us a result in that match. It's unbelievable to just wave on from that, I'd really like to hear an explanation on that!

Great performance and we hung on at the end. We were always going to tire towards the end having playing on Thursday.

And Carraghers pissed off Smalling didn't get sent off

Rashford! Hero. Delighted with the result. Always happy to win a win big game, even if we are back to the usual shite next week! I very surprised that we won.

Always happy to beat City. Rashers and Martial  Love that the boys dug in. Needed them to do that all season and against all opposition - not just in the big games. In any case, happy for today.

Otherwise, the ref is a major cnut!

today was for moyes. three points at the etihad, 1 point behind them in the league after a poor season. we have finally matched them. we no longer need to aspire. we are at their level. thanks for all the work you did, davey. the wait is over. the dream is a reality. we did it. we did it.

Get the feck in. Thought we didn't even play too well really. Couldve been more in that first half if we were sharper even. City are so shite. They need an even bigger overhaul then we do. Hopefully they drop out of the top 4 as they dont deserve it at all.

Martin Demichelis makes William Prunier look world class... We now need to build on this, unlike every other chance we've had this season... Beating City at there place is always sweet, even sweeter seeing them lose two important players as well for the run.

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
Good solid team performance
First half very good, should have had the penalty to make it more comfortable.
Other than Agüero heading against the post City didn't look that threatening. Dave had a fairly comfortable match.
If we could play like that for the rest of the season we can make CL

The 3 best players on the pitch for us today:
Dimachealis
Bony
Rashford

Take even 1 of these players out of play and we'd have drawn/lost.

The problem is after wins like this we end up putting in shit performances again straight away. Same as with Arsenal.
Enjoy this performance and win for now, but yes we are predictably unpredictable.

Next two league games are Everton and Spurs - I haven't got a fecking clue how they will work out. We could end with 6 points or 0.

Carrick man of the match for me. He was fantastic. Smalling and Demichelis close.
