No but being Welsh does make him Welsh.
The people who don't understand how nationality works is amazing.
What's all this stuff now of some players not being Welsh?
Sour grapes mate. I have always said that you choose your nationality. Where you are born or where your parents come from can make a difference but you can just apply for citizenship. What ever way your nationality is up to you.

Most of the people complaining celebrated an Owen Morgan, Kevin Pietersen century for England or a John Barnes goal for England. Where you are born does not define your nationality.

My Dad is having the greatest birthday of his life - new watch, Zlatan signs and Wales beats Belgium to go into Semis.

I'm in pure ecstasy right now.

I think you have a good chance against Portugal. They have just been scraping through.
To be fair that's what concerns me, they've been stuttering yet they're in a semi, it's like the gods are looking down on them!

@verminater sounds crazy but if we get past Portugal I really want a Germany v Wales final! Think it'd pretty much be us soaking the pressure up and countering (something like the Wales v England game was supposed to be) bit hopefully a better result...

What a magnificent performance. That rendition of Land of my Fathers being belted out near the end was spine-tingling. Everyone put everything into it, played for each other; passion, bottle, skill - everything you could ask. Bastards.

Very bitter almost childish.
Most on here Gave Wales stick for being shit most of the tournament, cried when we said we had more passion, cried after your match against Iceland saying you had no passion. Said we'd have a hiding against Belgium and was looking forward to it. Typical.

Get the feck in there Wales. Done the whole nation proud and showed we not only fight for each other on the field but can also play a bit.

Awsome night

Aye. I said after the game he was trying to play modern football and be something he isn't. He botched its though, tried to shoe horn too many names and even by the Iceland game was clueless as to his best eleven.
He tried to do the popular thing, instead of just doing the Hodgson thing, where he play with Dier and Henderson as the two defensive midfielders and Milner and Lallana on the wings, two hard working wingers instead of Sterling and Sturridge who can't defend.

Hart
Clyne - Cahill - Smalling - Bertrand
Dier - Henderson
Milner - Rooney - Lallana
Kane
That would've been a proper Hodgson team, safety first. It's no coincidence that England's best tournament under Hodgson was Euro 2012, where they played negative football. Alright, they did also have a leader in defense in Terry, something they've lacked in both Brazil and France, but still, they made the quarter-finals and lost on penalties to Italy by being negative. Not great, but at least better than being knocked out after 90 minutes by Iceland.

Honestly what is with the sour grapes in this thread? Grow a fecking pair.

It would have been fair game if you celebrated had we lost tonight, but to downplay our win and trying to make it to something else is small time and something we would have laughed at had it been on RAWK or Bluemoon.

Coleman's tactics today were fecking on point.

I only mentioned it to illustrate the lack of logic in the 'English players are overrated', 'the Premier League is crap' and 'the English academies are crap'.
All the Welsh team come from the same footballing culture and many come through English academies.

Not to mention that this quarter final was pretty much a Premier League game anyway.

And yes a number of them are English until someone from the Welsh FA asks them if they want to play international football because they qualify through one grandparent.

Nothing to do with bitterness. Out of those eligible I think only Ashley Williams would get a call from England anyway, being bitter would be kind of moot anyway.

Sorry, didn't know you personally knew every player on the team and asked them what nationalities they were before becoming footballers. Must be cool to know so many footballers.

He got slated for Euro 2012 though for playing like that, he had be slated for playing like that with Liverpool too so I think he chose to try and evolve. It didn't work.

Earlier this evening I randomly selected a Talksport Podcast of Johnny Vaughn's 'The Warm Up' dating back to July last year, one of the key sports points was Wales defeating Belgium. I took this as an omen.

did you intentionally ignore the main point of his comment and why he was saying it so you could quote this snippet out of context?

Geez, sure some of them might have unusually nuanced national affiliations but most people accept that is how it works. Andy Townsend is quite obviously a massive England fan, we know that, but he played for Ireland through the grandparent rule.

Well congrats Wales. This is probably the worst day in the history of our national team but we completely deserved it. The worst manager we've ever had did exactly what I thought he'd do, ruin our team. Fellaini... You always deserve to lose with him. Too drunk to say more right now.

English top players are overrated sometimes and too expensive.
Of course english players in general are not crap, it's just a problem of making them into a good NT with which England has problems. Wales had found a nice mix, Welsh with few English with Welsh grandmothers. :)

Premier league isn't crap but it sure as hell isn't helping English football and English NT.

@yumtum I have a sneaky feeling Italy will beat them.
We've done our bit, time to enjoy watching the others sweat.
Cymru am byth!
I've got that same feeling! Shame because Italy have the same team spirit and passion we have so it'd come down to the fact who has the game winners, which could become interesting!

I've said it before I'm happy we qualified, I was delighted we made it out of the group let alone won it, after that it's been bonus after bonus and this team has kept on giving! Let's hope Williams/King/Edwards make up for the loss of Ramsey for the semi, if we get paSt Portugal hopefully Ramsey will then come back with something more to prove/achieve!

I thought the "motto" together, stronger was extremely cheesy but it's very apt with this bunch.

Indeed Cymru am byth!

My friend lives in Brussels. He watched the game in some bar, people clapped after the game despite the loss. He found it strange. :)
In some Croatian bar people would swear and yell at the manager which they did of course when we lost to Portugal.
