Surely when on International duty at major championships you can't just swan off to other countries to do transfers? Just utter bollocks. Some lazy journalist has plucked Matuidi to United out of his arse.

Jose did "tell friends" about managing United and the signing of Zlatan. I like his friends. They seem quite reliable.

Again, Krycha was allowed to fly to Paris for talks a couple of days before our game against Switzerland. When it comes to Matuidi it's probably bollox, though, according to a French journo close to France NT.

Can't believe the under rating of Matuidi here...

As a Chelsea fan who has seen him up close and personal over the past couple of years in the CL I can assure people he's excellent when in form. Would be a very good signing for any team.

Seems like a lot of you are obsessed only with superstars.

£27million is still good for the donkey, the only downside is your club would spend it on another donkey & also Benteke would surely score against Liverpool in the league :D
Goes without saying really.

I haven't seen him much - but he's looked good every time I've seen him.

I love the thought of Conte using two strikers but it makes fitting Fabregas in a headache. What do you do with him? I just don't know.

Agree, surprised he is 29 though, thought he was 4-5 years younger.

Wasn't Jose trying to sign Schneiderlin for Chelsea a few seasons ago?
A lot of us fans wanted him pretty badly but the club never made a move for him. Don't think there was ever any concrete link.

The infamous 'told friends'
Mourinho seems to confide in his friends a lot, and they always go running to the press. Get some loyal pals Jose!

Yes exactly, he keeps things simple, which is exactly the reason for his high pass accuracy. I feel that whenever pass accuracy is compared, you have to compare the average pass length along with it. Yeah I've said the same earlier, I wouldn't want Matuidi as he's not at an age where his main assets in his game will drop. Saying that if he costs less than £20m, then it's not too bad (especially considering PSG signed imo the superior Krychowiak who's also only 26 years old for around £23m.)
Krychowiak is a completely different player though. He will sit and anchor the midfield, take the ball off the defenders and control things from deep. Matuidi is all about running off the ball, he's great at pressing and his movement makes space for other midfielders and attackers. He's far more box to box than Krychowiak despite the fact that the Pole does look decent moving forward. I'd have much preferred Krychowiak at United though, he's more what we need as we have Schneiderlin as a box to box presser (something that Van Gaal somehow failed to grasp).

It's criminal, the guy is amongst the very top in world football as a box to box destroyer.

Zlatan? Pogba?
Pogba is nothing but rumours and speculation at this point much like Vidal, Sneijder, Neymar, Thiago, Pedro, Sanchez and a whole host of other names. The only confirmed interest we've had for the big name players over the past few years have been Fabregas and Ramos.

Zlatan a no brainer as a free transfer.

Pals and sources are reporters with solid news briefed by Jose or someone close to Jose in the media imo.
They are generic, traceless terms.
These pals have been correct so far so lets see what happens.

Yeah I agree, Krychowiak would have been perfect for us. He has all the qualities Matic has and wouldn't have cost a bomb. But it looks likely we're moving for box to box mids rather than CDM's. Interesting that, considering Carrick, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin are currently the options in CDM with 1 of the latter 2 likely to leave. Saying that, would love Fosu Mensah to get some game time there, or even as a box to box, where he he was brilliant when he was moved there last season in the FA cup away leg against West Ham.

It's the daily mail

The same paper that over the years has had exclusives about us signing Kroos, Modric amongst others. And they didn't just link us to those players. They stated that we had actually signed them .

They make stuff up .

Im just going by their stories this year where they quote his close friends. During the whole PSG and Jose link, even when LVG looked as if he could stay they referenced his friends and Jose's confidence with the situation.
Even when linking Ibra with a move here if I remember.
Although not the hardest stories to forecast ( neither is Pogba if it comes off) it's not as if Jose hasn't his contacts in the media nor would it be difficult for journos to assess the atmosphere of a situation.
Not saying this is true but the Mail have gone big with Pogba to United in the last few days.
