Yes, and I dunno I've no interest in going trawling through his warnings to highlight it to be perfectly honest.
Fair enough. Gone for good or is it a temp thing?

We're not going to be spending much time explaining specific bans. In general, there are only a few reasons why mains posters get banned:

- User requested ban (for work/school etc)
- Accrued infraction points (5 points for a temp, 10 points for a longer temp, 15 points = perm)
- Gratuitous rules violations (ie posting adult images etc)
- Quality Control (they are continuously disruptive, wummish, or their posts are consistently low quality)

Newbie posters obviously haven't been vetted yet and get banned quite easily for similar infractions.

Are the points ever reset?

Yes, most infractions are generally good for a year after which they expire. There is a stipulation however in that mods can see expired infractions and consider them when reviewing a poster's rap sheet prior to a potential perm ban.

Find it a shame that RedCafe doesn't have stricter rules in regards to casual racism/sexism than most forums I visit but the ignore list functions well. I don't find that too many people get banned, the only person I noticed banned was Barney, Bob Loblaw and that Marcosdeto guy from Argentina.
Marcosdeto got banned? I know that he was a bit of a muppet in Messi/Ronaldo threads, but I also thought that he was a mod for a long time.

That's a bit insulting, just because I don't post much means I shouldn't be concerned? I just want to be sure I don't step over a line myself.
I'm sorry you feel insulted but you may want to knuckle up some, if you think you've done something to warrant a ban pray tell. I see no reason for your thread or your concern, as such, I'm surprised by it.

I don't know about the others but Marcos isn't banned, he just chooses not to post.

And this highlights a consant problem we have wth modding. The general concensus is that we want respectful discussion and low tolerance for even casual racism/sexism yet when we do this we sanitise the forum to the point that people find it boring.

Yeah, I should have worded it better. I think he stopped posting because he thought the moderation team was unfair with banning him in those Ronaldo threads. Don't really have an opinion on that.

Personally I find sanitation and boring a much better environment than offensive and inclusive. I think you can still get points across or be funny/entertaining without being sexist or racist.

We like to think of this place is like a pub not an HR meeting at IBM. Typically, if something is deemed acceptable in a pub then it should be fair game here.

Use the block button on the people who write in ways you dislike. Then when a discussion with someone who you've blocked appears to be done in a sivil manner and you want in, either unblock or just show blocked posters.

This lets you in some way moderate the site for your own, and people who like it relative constraint-free and inclusive can have that.
Best of both worlds.

I don't disagree in a general sense but this place was far more entertining when the moderation was less heavy handed/PC/whatever you want to call it. We still banned overt racism/sexism but general insults below the level of death threats certainly kept the place entertaining. Of course may people may well have left because of this.

I think Raoul has it about right with his pud based standard and we get far more complaints about us over-moderating than we do about under-moderating.

Somebody said that women getting threatened with rape online is actually good for those women because it drives traffic to their feminazi SJW blogs. Those nefarious women can act sympathetic to get all the clicks.

Thanks for the reply.

If my understanding is good, we could "report" this kind of posts.

In any case, I think it's very very rare to have this kind of perverse message.

There's a nice feature on another forum that shows the moderation history of a member with a link to the post that got them warned or banned. Then a nice front page where you can see a summary of what people have been getting in bother for :)
