The fact that Jose transformed/developed Jones- Rojo into a solid defensive partnership, should not be ignored. That's fantastic achievement to be fair, this is starting to look like a proper United team at last. We are obviously not there yet but we have been witnessing signs of it for a while now.
We dont have a single first choice player in defence, save for Valencia.

Mourinho has done wonders with our defending. Which is ALWAYS the right way to build a title winning team. From the back. Just as Fergie has done before.

The sort of Zlatan performance I was expecting at the start of the season, helping to roll over mid table teams away from home. Very pleasing.

Pogba was class too.

How Rojo got a yellow for that I will never know? Apart from that a very comfortable win in a pretty tricky away fixture.
Maybe he earned it from the 2 last games?

Trevor Morley just slapped his co-commentator in the Noggie studio, he is on the drink today, been evident all game.

Proper slurred chavvy voice and being more outspoken than normal, christmas came early for old Trev this year.
For real? I only catched the end of the programme and didn't notice anything.

Yeah he slapped Simen to illustrate the Rondon incident. I thought he acted quite strange in the half time review and he did seem a bit out of it, Simen and the program leader cracked up a few times laughing at him. Might just be the festive period though, but old Trev doesn't exactly say no to a few pints.

Could very well be true.

...and now BT running a section about us being incredibly lucky with referees this season. Fantastic.
yep just watched that utter bull shite. never mind the worst officiating 10 games on the trot against us but nothing of the multiple pens and red cards that should have gone in our favour. we are the very antithesis of luck this season

Excellent performance. Great to see the passion back. Jones backing up Rojo was lovely to see. We are back, no doubt about it.

I was wrong about Jose, thought he was not the man for us. He most definately is. After LVG when I missed a few games because I could not bare it, now its back to normal and my week revolves around watching the next game.

Thanks Jose.
This.

Good win yesterday, the fans were phenomenal and it was great to see the players go over to them at the end.

Wonder if the Lingard haters will turn up?
No, they won't. Lingard has ruined their christmas. I am not sure they will turn up for anything really. I wish them to get well soon though. Nobody deserves to be suffering during this time of the year, or any time of the year really.

Many other players in the past are apparently "not Utd class" yet contributed immensely to our successes. As long as he plays well and contributes to the team, he certainly belongs to the squad and deserves our support imo.
That is also very true. Well said.

Man, I was dead wrong about Carrick starting. Others called that right. He looked great with Herrera and Pogba running around him.

I'm a hater (not on here) but was absolutely thrilled to be proven wrong today. As a Manchester lad I really do hope he makes it here. He just needs consistency and to stop being invisible in games.

Plus Mourinho is clueless.

We're a long way from being top class though. We do need a better CB combination even though Rojo has played well. Bailly and Jones could be a good one.
We still need to find goals other than Zlatan and at times our play is still a bit pedestrian, we'd get punished by better attacks, And our midfield is still lacking but I don't want to sound negative.
We are progressing
You think so? Then you haven't been paying attention. There are few better pure attacking teams in the prem than Arsenal. Yet, we completely nullified their attack for most of the game, Sanchez and Ozil nowhere to be found. But for Rashford falling asleep and allowing an unchallenged cross for Giroud to head in in the 89th minute, we would have limited Arsenal to no shots on target the whole game! Every objective viewer of that match knows the Arse got away with one. I think you sell us very short.

Best performance I've seen from the lads this season. Easily matched the physicality of West Brom and the extra ability and technique shone through. The back four still has some issues though until our best defenders are back in the team - looking at you Darmian.

Enjoyed the game very much. Totally dominated the midfield and special praise to Jones-Rojo partnership. Complement each other so well.

Wasn't a sitter but it was a chance he should put away. Just needed to take a fraction of a second longer
On Lingard - should've wrapped his boot around the ball, would've went in the far top rather than over the near top. However it seems So easy to criticize from my chair. I can imagine How the far corner seemed too narrow so he figured I'll blast it past the keeper.
The reason we looked so good in defence is because our full backs were so disciplined. Blocking most of the crosses and not conceding free kicks near the box.
Rojo put Rondon in his pocket. No wonder he lost it towards the end. I thought we will drop points there, but what a great result

While I do think the post you quoted undersells us. We had a very good defensive record last season as well, after all. But the bolded bit is unecesserily condescending, particularly when the rebuttal you actually provide is a weak one. Arsenal have found OT a pretty miserable place to visit for a hell of a long time so they aren't really the best barometer to judge us by. Their stars always seem to flop at our ground, or at least more often than not. An achievement for a united defence would be keeping Chelsea out at Stanford Bridge I imagine where we always seem to struggle. And we got hammered.

I do rate our defence though. We're not brilliant at the back but it's not exactly an area were poor in. We possibly lack that one top class centre back but by current PL standards we've got a good defence.

I have been very critical towards Mourinho - but yesterday he got it spot on. This is exactly how you beat a team like WBA. It was a very good performance from our players, but most of all it was a smart, tactical win.

WBA with their 30+ players, simply don't have the legs for efficient pressure. So we could simply pass the ball around without worrying about them stealing the ball. In addition - even if we did lose the ball, they haven't got the pace to threaten us with a quick counter-attack. So we could easily control the tempo and the flow of the game.

So well done Mourinho - you got it spot on.

An early goal against a Pulis team is extra sweet because then his teams set up goes right out the window, so that was excellent.

You feel the longer it went on 0-0, the harder it would have gotten

A very convincing win, everything seemed to click for us. The goals were beauties as well.

Solid performance, we never looked troubled. I'm beginning to fancy us for a top four spot.

A good positive performance and a game we controlled. It's been a frustrating season but there's no doubting Mourinho has improved us. Pogba has transformed our midfield and Ibrahimovic has improved our attack. In them we have two strong leaders.
