"I think with Fergie the result would've been 3-1." Definitely think that's true. No way would a ref have dared to feck over SAF's United again and again like that. Not in England anyway.

Well done mate. Similar with my experience as well. Got a loud mouthed Liverpool fan in my class. Supported United just to shut him up before the 1996 FA Cup final. Loving it ever since :D
Unbelievable how many loudmouth Liverpool fans there are.

There was one prick in college with me who was always on about them, when I dared criticise a Liverpool performance as boring, he practically squared up to me...the cock! It was funny when I didn't back down

Genius statement!

What utter crap! This has got to be a WUM:lol:
Happy New Year to you as well.

Let's look at our team, shall we? Valencia is solid. Until only very recently could you depend on Jones, who is injury prone and mistake prone. The same goes for Rojo. I like Bailly but he still has a lot to prove. Today we started Blind at LB...how do you think he did? Smalling was also less than impressive. They could've scored three on us in the first half with simple counters, and better teams, like when we got rampaged by Chelsea, will do. So, for me, the defense still needs a few players to round it out. Carrick is almost done. Herrera is useful, but not really that great. So, we need a proper replacement for Carrick. Fellaini...enough on that topic. Pogba is solid. Out wide. Mkhi shows signs of brilliance but also has many lapses in games with poor passing and decision making. Martial is still young and I want him around for sure but he drifts in and out of form. Ibra is also almost done. I don't think Rashford is ready to fill that role. I like Rashford, but he is not dependable every week. So, by my reckoning, we still need quite a few players and it will look like a major transformation in a few years time.

Good ending to the match despite Lee Mason's best efforts. Another 3 points and two of the top four rivals play tonight. Well in the mix for top 4 now.

Good performance in the central midfield once Fellaini was replaced, before that it was all Martial, but my god our finishing is awful. We need to improve that if we are to be a really really top team. We only scored 29 times in 19 games. Despite all the shots we take on goal, that's an utterly poor return.

There was a distinct annoying sound on my TV for this game. Almost sounded like vuvuzela. Please tell me it wasn't.

Well played today Manchester United.

Martial was fantastic throughout deserved at the very least to not only get a goal but be on the winning team. The referee was so bad I can honestly say he must be corrupt, you cannot make that many poor decisions. If we buy anyone it's someone to eventually replace Carrick we look lost at the back without him. Also Smalling should be 4th choice at the back.
I thought you were about to say if we buy one (a ref) hope he's not as useless as Mason :)

Oh but they did. Hard to recall wrongly disallowed goals at this point of course, but I can list out a dozen of things that the FA did to screw us over the years when SAF was still here, like Rio's ridiculous 8-month ban or Rooney's ban for swearing or Scholes' ban in the PL after a pre-season friendly redcard. Still frothing at the mouth thinking about those.

Plan A with carrick

Carrick
Herrera Pogba
Mkhi zlatan martial

Plan B without carrick

Herrera pogba
mata
Mkhi zlatan Martial

Fellaini should be plans Z when its last resort, it just showed playing fellaini really was shotting us in the foot, even though the refs farcical blunders. Playing herrera and pogba deeper is still better than playing fellaini in the team, as mata offers us creativity when we can't have pogba and herrera more advanced.

Big decisions coming up for Jose. Fellaini continues to either underwhelm or cost us vital points. His contributions on the pitch haven't justified his selection, IMO.

Also, Jose must be thinking about Smalling who, IMO, has been shaky at times - even going back to some of LVG's matches last season. With Jones and Rojo showing some form, I'm not sure he should get selected ahead of them, although to be fair Smalling is coming back from an injury so it's unfair to judge based on today's match. It'll never happen under Mou - but I'm wondering what Jones or TFM might offer in the DM role when Carrick is unavailable.

Overall though, a fantastic comeback today.

Missed that too. No surprise for being lowest rated player today!

I'm sure Mourinho knows what he needs in the summer and will look to build on the squad he has. Right now what he has to do is get the best out of the players here and get results (which have finally come around).

True, the FA fecked us over on a number of occasions, but that was the FA - not the refs. I may suffer from selective memory (entirely possible), but I can't remember a game under SAF where the ref screwed us over as badly as today.

I was as furious as I've ever been during the game today though. Absolutely livid.

I just hope Jose sticks to 433 with Herrera and Pogba the heart of our midfield, and he signs an anchor man to replace carrick long term. Martial and Mkhi I do hope starts to become our wide forwards week in week out, as Martial is so talented not to succeed here.

It's the winning formula at the moment and getting the right replacements for Zlatan and Carrick will be critical going forward.

Can't disagree with that, but I think the problem is with what you're calling plan B. Pogba and Herrera just haven't been disciplined enough in their passing, defending and positioning, it blunts the best aspects of their game, and Mata offers little to nothing in defending against counterattacking sides. If Plan B could click - we'd definitely be in business. However, I agree, I'd go with your Plan B over starting Fellaini. He wasn't that awful today, TBH, but we've seen time and time again that as a deep lying midfielder his contributions are limited.

The problem we were having, fellaini was ahead of herrera, the position herrera is so devastating at. Yes I agree Pogba and Herrera are not disciplined, but mata is such a class player he does not stand out has the weaklink like we seeing with fellaini, against teams like boro we cannot and should not even field a fellaini, mata while not has good as herrera, but he will create and score goals. Unless we get a anchor man to replace carrick long term, our plan B when carrick is not available is 4231 with herrera and pogba deeper, and mata linking up with Mkhi zlatan and martial. Fellaini really is compromising the way we are playing, because he has not get the set of skills to make us flow, mata really did make us look creative from A to B. We really were playing with 10 against 12 players today, the ref and fellaini may is well have been on the boro team

Really enjoyed Jose's comment as to whether it was the United of old;
"No...under Sir Alex it would've been 3-1"

Over the moon.

Seriously, that should've been 4-0 or something. Very silly goal to give away and we absolutely dominated the game for the most part. Felt like it was gonna be one of those days again, but the lads showed so much fight and determination, was great seeing us show a set of balls again.

Martial was great, thoroughly deserved the goal and hopefully he kicks on now and regains his form from last season. Everyone put a real shift in, great job.

Final note - I rarely mention referees. But that penis can do one. We didn't get a single thing from him for 90mins, the mug.

Onwards and upwards into 2017, starting with 3pts on Monday night please.
