I am fecking serious that we need to go all out to run up the score. This is our only opportunity to lay down a marker and send their season into tailspin with a monumental and historical ass-whooping (like the Arsenal 8-2). It is one for the ages. We only get ONE shot. If we let them leave with their dignity intact they can just brush off a narrow defeat as just "an off day" and possibly regroup. We must prevent that from happening. We need shock and awe. We need a blitzkrieg. We have to score goal after goal and make it CLEAR that Liverpool are NOT a suitable team to be contenders for the title. We do that, and they could well drop out of the top four entirely.

This is our ONLY shot to derail their season and send it into meltdown. I hope we take it.

Even a 3-1 victory is not enough. We have to unleash hell on them. Have Mata and Mhkitaryan run rings around their defence, while Zlatan serves as a battering ram to CRUSH their bus. Then, when the result is beyond doubt, bring on Martial, to add insult to injury and use his pace to torment them further. Lastly, bring on Rooney to score the record breaking goal from 40 yards out.
That would be perfect. Mate I'm so excited for this game. They usually raise their game at OT but I don't think they have enough to win or even draw!

I might go with Martial, too, but Mata is in great form and he has a good record against Liverpool. Leaving out Mkhitaryan is an option as well... dunno. I'm okay with any combination of these three. Just no Lingard please.
We need to run at them, mkhi and martial will give liverpool so many problems, not to mention our midfield is stronger, mata and rashford great impact subs, but mkhi zlatan and martial must be our front 3 so nothing is played in front of them

The only concern I have is that Jose doesn't appear to hate Liverpool enough. He hates them, but not enough.

I want him to be obsessed with wrecking their season. Like how he sent his players to score goal after goal against Arsenal during Wenger's 1000th game. He kept attacking even when the result was beyond doubt. He was motivated not only to win but to send out a message.

If we end up thrashing Liverpool I hope Jose runs down the touch line and does a crazy celebration like when he ended their title hopes during the Gerrard "slip" game at Anfield. More than that I hope that during the post match conference, he makes a strong point about how Liverpool are a shit team and can't possibly hope to win the title.

Yeah he does not like Wenger at all. You are right, we need to smash them. Put a big downer of their campaign, although in all honesty I would settle for a win right now, regardless of the score - because this is Liverpool we are talking about who seem to have superpowers at OT.

The Gerrard slip didn't end their title hopes, it was Crystanbul a few days later.

This is also Liverpool, a side who have not even managed to beat Sunderland, Plymouth or Southampton in their last 3 games.

There is no chance of an upset. No chance. Mourinho wouldn't allow that. So much is at stake. The minimum acceptable result for me is 3-0. I want us to go all out.

Yes but the Gerrard slip game was a defining moment and a turning point. It put a huge dent in their confidence and triggered the meltdown against Palace.

A huge thrashing at Old Trafford today could have a similar effect on their season. The catalyst for a melt down.

You must understand that this game isn't just about points. We need to send a message.

I for one hope we lose today. Lots of pressure on us at the moment to perform, losing at home to the scousers will take the pressure off and we can all have a good moan about it later on on here. I've got meltdown withdrawal.

Yes. Mata and Mhkitaryan to start. We should try to unlock their defence early. Martial can come on in the second half when they're tired (and they certainly looked tired as feck against Southampton). His pace will pose a serious problem for them especially with tired legs.

We need to try to score repeatedly. If we lead 1-0 we must not sit back. The objective of this game isn't just a win and 3 points. We need shock and awe. We need a symbolic and statement-making victory. We need to break Liverpool's resolve. This is non-negotiable. It has to be a comprehensive and emphatic ass-whooping the likes of which Liverpool have never experienced, even despite their long years of mediocrity. A repeat of our 8-2 win over Arsenal would be nice. A repeat of Jose's 6-0 win over Arsenal on Wenger's 1000th game would also be nice. We must not try to grind out a result and be satisfied with that.

We need to stop thinking that this is about three points. This is about crushing souls. We need to lay down a marker. This is non-negotiable, I repeat, a simple win is NOT sufficient. We need to send out a very clear statement.
Yeah I'm sure If you're 1-0 up at HT Mourinho will be telling his players to make sure they get at least four or five more goals. I can picture him pulling your CB's to one side and telling them that they're playing the second 45 minutes up top with Ibrahimovic. He'll probably sub De Gea off as well and let Carrick play rush, no hands keeper. He'll end up with another fine and touch line ban for kicking a bottle at Rooney when he doesn't try to shoot from kick off following United's 12th goal.

All Mourinho will want is a win and to keep in touch with the top four. I bet he'd love a 1-0 win like the one you had against Spurs. I think that's what it might be as well.

I am sure that he was pleased for Salah (who was a total flop by the way) but I am also sure he was especially happy at having totally crushed Arsenal on Wenger's 1000th game in charge. His loathing for Wenger is very deep seated. They have a deep personal dislike for each other. It is not only about football.

I know he hates Liverpool and especially Rafa. But I wish he would take his hatred of Liverpool to the same level as his hatred for Arsenal. The Liverpool fans also hate him because of the numerous times he crushed their dreams (Gerrard slip just being one example). I want him to go all out to smash Liverpool. A 1-0 win isn't enough. They need to be beaten very comprehensively. Put back in their place. A result to deflate their confidence and knock them out of the title race.
Weren't you the fella crying over Conte celebrating after Chelseas 4th went in? Wasn't Jose caught saying something about respect to Conte as the whistle blown?
It's a disgrace when it happens to Jose but you love it when Jose does it to someone else.

City had a much better goal difference so the Gerrard slip put them in control. City won their remaining games so even without Crystanbul they would have been champions.

Exactly. That defeat totally broke their morale. After that, they lost their confidence and went on to bottle it against Palace. Morale is everything. When a team is on a high they will win games because they have belief. The opposite is also true. We must break Liverpool's belief. We will only have one chance to do so this season, at least by ourselves (without relying on other teams).

If the "champions elect" get battered at Old Trafford the halo will be shattered and they will go on to lose more points.

There is a big difference here.

    1) Mourinho was the former manager of Chelsea and won 3 league titles for Chelsea. The fans loved him. He was treated badly by the players and the club. So a little respect from Conte would have been in order. Just as Jose himself dedicated the Community Shield win to LVG, Conte could have been a gentleman and acknowledged the work that Jose had put in at Chelsea (and which Conte inherited).

    2) Liverpool is a different story. They are a hated rival. Klopp wasn't our former manager. When Jose instructed his team to keep attacking Arsenal even after the game had been won, he did it to send a message to his hated rival (Wenger) and also demoralize them and put them out of the title race. That is not out of order. It is not the same as Jose going all out to thrash and humiliate a team managed by LVG or Fergie.

I don't like it when you guys are all over confident, I can't remember the last time it didn't end in disaster. I fancy our chances here, but you guys are making me nervous, can we get some more doom mongers in here to even it out?

Thank you for the compliments kind sir. I only wish Jose and the players would have exactly the same thoughts. I want people to understand that this game is not only about the three points.
