If they Unsettle De gea again, We must hit back again and unsettle Modric Kroos Or bale or varane ,One of their most important players in the squad, because we have the money to break the record again and bale has a chance to rethink , so as the others , like we did it with Ramos last time which frustrated them. Only then they will realize that United with mourinho and woodward is not to be messed with will create a credible detrence, since Mourinho has the draw of pulling players and knows in and out of madrid. We are no longer forced to sell de gea as he has a contract and we should extend his contract again.

Let it be Courtois. De gea is Ours Or we go to war again.

And also one life long Atleti boy, former Atleti player, it's like Rashford becoming a young star, leaves and wants to play for City.
Didn't stop him signing for Real a couple of years ago though did it (barring the fax machine of course). He still signed on the dotted line to become a Real Madrid player.

It does seem clear that Real is putting the word out through Marca that they will sign a keeper this summer. Just checked that they posted quite a similar article about Courtois willing to move a couple of hours ago. Tomorrow will probably be Donnarumma's turn. They've mentioned all the keepers in both articles.

Edit: Didn't take that long

Here's the Courtois one

Madrid are not going to pay that much for him. They sabotaged buying him last time so he could come for free at end of last season, but he signed a new contract instead. They won't come in with a giant offer for him.

Do the Spanish press invent buy out clauses for all of their stories?
It seems De Gea has 3/4 clauses ffs with every single one being a mystery to the English press yet the Spanish have all the info

I read that marca article yesterday. It says there is a potential 65 mil euro release clause. Also I opened marca today and it says real also targeting courtois and Donnarumma.
We'd have to spend a shit load to get him, and even then it wouldn't be a guarantee.

The kid is stupidly young, has world class potential, and loves the club.

I'd insist if they want him we want Kroos in return. Otherwise no deal is being done.

Creates one problem but solves another that is 100x harder to fix.

I'm not as worried anymore because we are heading in a much better direction than previous years. We'll simply just buy a new keeper who is great.

Dave is world class but I always expected him to go back to Spain at some point in his career, especially with some top form years left in him.

No need to be paranoid as it's only a neutral response in order to have a stronger hand in negotiations (pun somewhat intended). I'm sure he's happy here. I'm sure he'd be happy at Madrid. Up to Woodward to pay the price to keep him if offers are made, simple as that.

At least if De Gea does decide to leave, we have more bargaining power. I just hope that we make Real squirm and pay top dollar for him. I know our current United setup won't just let him go for peanuts! I'd also be happy for Romero to get a first team run as or defence is going to get beefed up during the coming seasons.

Would still like De Gea to stay of course though.

At the end of the day this is pretty much how I see it as well.

De Gea is world class and has been an excellent servant for us, but I've always thought in the back of my mind that he'll leave for Spain at some point. And I'd have no grudge against him for doing so.

There are currently 3 teams above us that have worse keepers that have cost them points this season. De Gea makes a huge difference and we won't be able to replace him.

Not a big deal...do you remember the time between Schmeichel and VDS? Awful period of goalkeeping.
I doubt Jose will be going for the budged option of a Howard/Carroll GK if he were to need a replacement.

Hey Madrid, you can have him for Kroos or Bale.

Didn't think so.

CL qualification is a must. He deserves to be playing in highest club level tournament consistently.

If he wants to leave we should let him. He has been a great player for the club and helped us out so much. Always been professional all the way through the last time Real Madrid came in to him. However I feel a lot of you are reading in to this way to much. From the comments we have no idea to know what he meant. Remember footballers are a fine tuned media machine now and he would of been coached on what to say.

Lets just crack on with the season and focus on winning as much as possible, getting a top 4 finish and worry about this in the summer.
I disagree, if we want to get back to the top of European football we can't sell players like De Gea.

Would be gutted if he left but he has suffered a year of Moyes, 2 of Van Gaal, this year is shaping up to be transitional and maybe next year too - he should be playing in CL finals, which Madrid have won twice in that time...disregard the family stuff and still, he would be best served moving on and I couldn't blame him.

So, let's say we sell him for £40m, or whatever it is. Who can we buy that would be of equal quality, age and stage of adaptation to the English league? Losing him would be a massive kick in the teeth.

Yeah, people trying to dress up losing DDG as something acceptable are fooling themselves.

He is the best GK in the world along with Neuer, there is no replacement.

Neuer = not happening
Courtois = not happening
Oblak = They would fleece us for atleast what we get for DDG
Donnarumma = Young and even though he wants to leave Milan and Italy for us (which I don't think he will) we will go through the same period of adaption that we had with DDG, perhaps even longer considering he is younger

There is no one in the world we can get that wouldn't be a massive step down, that is the fact.

Madrid KUNTZ! Why can't you perma-lisping bastards ever leave us alone.

It would be a shame if he does leave. Finally starting to see progression and direction now with Jose at the helm and Big Dave is part of that progression, not only for his skills as a goal keeper but also for morality and chemistry between his team mates aswell.

Madrid are weird, why do they want to get rid of Navas? I can only think of marketing reasons otherwise its bizarre.
They think their the biggest club in the world and always want the best toys. They know DDG is top 3 in the world and he is Spanish to boot. Keylar is from Costa Rica and had a good world cup. He's done well there but they get bored with their players quickly. Who else are they going to sign as a galactico in the summer?

Yeah, DDG is probably the cheapest galactico they can get, keepers are always cheaper than their outfield equivalents.

No other galactico around to be had for £40m or thereabouts.

Besides they/Perez probably want to get one up over against us after Pogba last summer.

Oh ffs. I thought Navas was supposed to be great?
Navas is a short goalkeeper who relies on his reflexes and just turned 30 year old. Anyone who knows a bit of history will know why Real Madrid are desperately looking for a new goalkeeper before they have a Casillas situation again.

If there is no release clause, then I doubt we'd sell him for anything less than an absurd amount.

It also depends on whether Real actually want him and are willing to pay the asking price which is not so obvious.

I think we will be fine. He saved us plenty of times under van Gaal and Moyes and was main reason why we made top 4 in 2014-15 but with good defence we could get by with a slightly inferior goalkeeer. It's important that we get it spot on with the replacement but somehow I am confident we will.

Wasn't there rumoured to be a release clause in his last contract?

Besides his contract is just until 2019, if we decide to play hardball he can just stay for another year and then sign for them in the january 18/19 window.

Not a slight on his talent but this season's been unusual in that I don't think we'd be much off with a lesser keeper. I'd struggle to think of many (any?) really out of this world saves and it's sometimes felt like we need 4 or 5 golden opportunities to score but the opposition just need to be through on goal once. The difference to previous years is huge. Anyone else noticed this?
