We need to keep taking the game to them. Sitting off on a one nil lead is just letting them regain a bit of confidence and cohesion.

Keep attacking them lads. A second goal will kill these feckers off.

What a result, three away games out the way. Thought hendricks was outstanding. Hope Brady missing the Wales match doesn't cost us.

Robbie Brady out of the next match...
Ward has been in good form the past two seasons though . we'll miss Robbie's set pieces though . The Meyler Arter partnership was good second half so hope we stick with that instead of the sluggish McCarthy Whelan combo . Long in for Walters would be useful too.

Delighted with the boys though. What result do we want from the Serbia Wales game ?

Cracking result from the lads. Wasn't the prettiest of performances but a wonderful 3 points from one of our toughest matches in the group.

Seems we're only great supporters during tournaments....

Delighted with that. 10 points from 12. Away trips to Serbia and Austria done. It's going brilliantly so far. Not sure what to hope for in the Wales v Serbia game.

McClean was excellent. O'Neill really is the manager to get the best out of him. His best spell at club level was under O'Neill at Sunderland.

Thank God Janko is so rubbish.

Quality win that. Meyler was solid when he came on. 2nd half was very good. Shame Brady is out vs Wales though. All in all 10 from 12 is bloody epic

Great result, like the look of that table.

Used to seeing us go to pieces after we go ahead but this time the opposition seemed pretty brittle. We looked like getting a second more than conceding an equaliser.

Congrats! We've been absolutely awful, but that's becoming the norm in 2016.
Don't think we'll make it to Russia at this rate, hope you do better.

Thank you.

The first was awful, from both sides. But the second half is one of the best Ireland performances recently, not in terms of entertaining football or anything but composure.

What's going on with ye anyway? Feared ye when the draw was made, thought your euro campaign was a blip. Players or management?

It means we can afford a draw with Wales at home in March.

The next two games will be crucial.

I think Serbia will top the group, so 4 points from the next 2 games should set us up nicely for the double header against Georgia (away) and Serbia in September.

Going very well so far. O'Neill is a limited manager and McClean is a limited player, but together they're like a limited version of steel sharpening steel.

Alaba has been terrible for them in 2016.
That's true, he's been really bad in midfield. Lots of people want him to play left back, especially since Fuchs retired after the Euro. Wimmer (Spurs) was used there and he's been awful too. The others aren't that good either, we dont't have much speed, creativity or desire in our game and lack depth in a lot of areas, there's no one to replace players like Janko. Our keeper fecked up his knee again a few weeks ago.
Koller is facing a lot of criticism too.

Great win, I fully expected the usual us not knowing what to do after taking the lead so delighted with the win. All going wrong for Austria from the looks of it.

One or two people who know these sorts of things say Brady will pitch up at Leicester once Schlupp leaves. Could be a very good move for him. They'll stabilise over the summer and I'd expect them to be a solid mid table PL club from there.

Would be the ideal move.

In other news, Big Jon is going under the knife for his dodgy knee. Could be a doubt for Wales. :(

Mother of God, the injuries mounting at a rate of knots....Clark, Artur, Duffy all possible starters along with a raft of squad options. McCarthy surely still a big doubt. Wes off injured the other day. O'Shea and Keogh centre-half? Cotton wool for the rest of them for the week I hope.

Any news of Wes? He went off injured the other day I think.

I got a flight home from Manchester today. Coleman, Brady, McGeady, Whelan and Brady were all on it. Not that this update really adds much to the discussion. But there you go...
