Rare injury. Mata's not that injury prone.

Thus, we have fewer options in attacks now.

Seems we're going to see a lot of 5-2-3/5-3-2 formation the rest of this season then.
How are we going to field three centre backs with Jones and Smalling both out? Blind, Rojo and Bailly every match with Fosu-Mensah/Tuanzebe as cover? Does not seem plausible.

This sucks! It is the time of the year when we need all our players to be fit.

Anyone know when will Pogba return. I think that we can probably deal with an attack three of Ibra, Martial and Mhiky (Rooney, Rashford and Lingard to cover for them), but then we need 3 midfielders and we don't have them (Carrick can't play each match). So, I guess it is gonna be 5-2-3 with Blind and Bailly each side of Rojo. Young and Shaw to cover for Valencia and Darmian.

Feck, it looks dire. If any of our CBs gets injured we are screwed cause we don't have the players to play some other formation right now. We should have returned Pereira when we sold Schneiderlin and Depay, and we should have kept Basti up to the end of the season. Injuries happen when you play so many matches.

Nooo!
Fecking hell. Ibra, Pogba, Herrera, Mata, Jones, Smalling...

Amazing that he never missed a game for us because of an injury though.

Heartbreaking if true, him and Mkhy was my favourite combination we had this season and Mata is probably one of our only genuine quality players.

Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Mhkitaryan, Rooney +Ibra. We'll be fine, but it would be nice if Rashford would play from the right side some. Alas, Don Keyrooney will step in.

That he is, absolutely. But he was the first to break these news, so no reason to ban him? I agree, he’s a pathetic, childish cnut who fights every single person on twitter, who questions him.
Oh, yeah. My comment was half tongue in cheek. :D

3 out of Bailly, Rojo, Blind or Carrick.

I don't buy that both Jones and Smalling will be out for all that long either.

Well, that escalated quickly.

What happens if someone complains about lips being numb? Chop them off?

Lost a player who is basically the only one besides Ibra who can score a goal... Just great.

Yeah, like panicking over the fact three first choice players could potentially be out for the rest of the season, with a jam-packed April on the way. It's all just the drama we love!
We've had our entire frontline fit for almost the entire season and haven't had any key player injured for any significant period of time. City have Jesus out for the rest of the season, Kompany out for essentially the whole season and have been without Aguero for significant parts of the season. Arsenal have had Cazorla out for almost the whole season and Welbeck out for significant chunks of it.

It's not ideal but the overwhelming reaction was "we're fecked". That's ridiculous.

MATA FACES TIME OUT AFTER SURGERY

Juan Mata has joined several of his Manchester United team-mates on the sidelines following an operation.

A club statement confirmed on Friday evening: "Juan has had surgery for a groin injury. Further updates on his recovery will follow in due course."

United manager Jose Mourinho had previously ruled out three injured players for Saturday's Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion - Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Paul Pogba - while Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are both suspended.

Perfect opportunity for Jose to do what he does best: play his favourite 7-2-1 formation a.k.a. park the damn bus and hit on the counter. Now United fans will get real value for the Mourinho investment.

He hasn't been that good this season anyway. Obviously its a big loss with all the games we have coming up but out of all of our attackers he's the least important.
What on earth are you talking about?! Do you actually watch any of our games?!

You're right, I'm sure Jose is laughing hysterically, slouched in his couch at home, that his masterplan of injuring half our fecking squad has finally came to fruition.

This is what he wanted.

...along with Blind, Darmian and Shaw as covers, well probably. My money is on Smalling returning soon. Jones would be out long injured. Not saying we might go with that formation every match.

With our attacking options now limited.. slightly, I think Mourinho will go for more defensive formation in EPL, with all the attacks focused more on winning the Europa league.

Really hope he's back before the end of the season. Popped up with the equalizer in the FA Cup final last year and I've generally always thought of him as one of those lucky players that can make all the difference in a tight game. Coming into the latter stages of the Europa League, it would be a huge loss not having him as an option, losing our potential Solskjaer that could score us a vital goal when it really matters:(

So it's hernia then, and it isn't that he's out for the season?
Depends on the operation they chose. I'm assuming they went for laparoscopic instead of open surgery. Probably means roughly 10 days completely out and then a couple of weeks of training before being close to first team games. My guess is 3-4 weeks, so probably will be back playing end of April.

Sounds better than lost till the end of the season although it's rougly what, month and a half till the end anyway...

It was all so good with the injuries, now it's getting crazy.
