On the bright side, Zlatan is still scoring and looking a threat and Shaw was not as rusty as I thought he would be, apart from a woeful cross that was even more frustrating because of the desperation and the clock running down, he had a good game.

We are such an overrated team with a lot of overrated & overpaid players + Mou has brought no progress..

We will fail in the EL, too and then we will throw 200+m again on even more overpaid players in the summer - yeaaah!
If we miss on qualifying to the C.L this time which is expected, it will be very hard to attract and get what you want because it will be a bit repeated not just a bad couple of seasons.

Could only watch about 2/3rds of the match, maybe I'll watch it later, so fed up with team selection. Mata's injured so goal threat diminished and we put the two next potent goal threats on the bench plus Pogba.

Since the League Cup Final , up till when we were building up momentum, we decided that being a headless chicken is the same as being a good footballer.

We've been crap before the League cup final.

We weren't good enough last night, not good enough. Only Bailly, Rojo and Rashford were any good and they are the only ones who can hold their head high, and maybe Shaw.

fecking shocking. de Gea, what the feck is he doing, why has he stopped coming out for the ball, I was sat in the Stretford End, he was putting pressure on Rojo all night. Fellaini was shocking, I'm a massive fan, but he was awful. Zlatan was more interested in congratulating the effort of the wayward balls than actually running about.

What did Lingard offer last night? Nothing. I like him, but my god is he poor sometimes. Strange how Martial or Mkhitaryan didn't start above him.

We go again on Sunday, please let's beat Sunderland, please.

I am worried that Jose thought Carrick and Fellaini were good at the weekend, when in fact they were one of the main reason we created sod all against WBA. The fact he said it justified to him them starting last night.

Listless, leaderless performance.
A return to default LvG sideways play.

Thoughts during game:
"We're really easy to play against"
"We flatter visiting defences by attacking at a snails pace" (same as most games)
"We missed Valencia and Mata"
"Shaw and Mkhitaryan added some zip to us, why didn't we play with some urgency sooner?"

Ridiculous disallowed goal
Ridiculous fluke goal to Everton
Wasteful in front of goal (as always)
Poor ref (again). Didn't appear to have a grip on game. Which was particularly apparent at a few points
Ref lenient on visiting team (again). Specifically letting some challanges go unbooked and no attempt to discipline for time-wasting (annoying when press raises eyebrows at amount of time added on. See Fergie Time)

Losses feel like draws (again) but not in a good way

Press manages to have it both ways.. United bad, but also Everton defended and played well. We lacked edge and pace and direct attacking play, therefore easier to defend against. Simple.

Press re-write as "Unlucky Everton"

A 36 years old strike still scoring is the only positive point? that is the worst positive news in the world. His presence directly shadows Rashford's development. Considering all the rhetorical comments from manager and players of how positive Zlatan's influence on Rashford could be. it is really Ironical!

Jose got his team selection massively wrong last night. Herrera starting in the Number 10 role? Who then reverted to type and went deep to collect the ball. Fellaini: what exactly was he doing? He was all over the place. Blind's delivery was atrocious, free-kick apart. Carrick had no one to pass to due to the appalling lack of movement. Rashford seemed to get knocked off the ball too easy plus he still missed another one-on-one despite it being offside. Lingard: lots of running and enthusiasm but in the wrong areas and at the wrong times.

"Hoof-ball" was the order of the day far too early in the game. The crossing in general was dreadful........I mean it's not like they practice corners and crossing at training every day is it? <ahem>

Shaw looked up for it and provided an outlet, things should be looking up for him now (lip up fatty eh?). Please play proper full backs Jose.

After the first sub, it appeared to me we were playing 3 at the back and one of them was Ashley Young! FFS. Then Herrera went over to left back to make a back four, then ended up at right back and then back in the middle. WTF?!

3 points dropped, an awful, slow, predictable football performance. Lacklustre in all areas. Lucky to get a point. Same as Saturday but with slightly different personnel. I'm feeling fearful right now............and then we'll beat Sunderland away...........

Despite all the negatives and playing rubbish etc. the ref was shit we still hit the bar twice could have scored another and had a perfectly good goal disallowed.

Beyond frustrating.

Sanctity, like a cat, abhors filth.
When United lose significant matches I always find it difficult to work the next day. Going out of the CL, losing big derbies, that kind of thing.

Last night felt significant, after the game, in a way I didnt really appreciate going into it. And hence I am sitting here, unable to focus on my work at all.

I think last night I stopped believing we were going to make top 4.

Agree with this. Our results of late have been horrible. Ever since the league cup win, we've been very, very poor.

Pretty much sums up the whole season. The build-up was way to slow and our crosses were woeful. Someone explain to me again the point of Jesse Lingaard. He makes Young look like Becks! Speed is pointless if you can't cross the ball and he has managed one league goal all season. It's time we conned Arsenal into taking him off our hands. He is nowhere near good enough. Fellaini is proving pretty pointless too and I know I'll come in from criticism for this but not sure Herrera is good enough either. I love his commitment and he clearly loves United but he gives the ball away in dangerous areas and remains easy to push off the ball. He must bulk up if he is going to stay. And wow, has DDG lost interest. He was so hesitant last night I couldn't believe it - has he signed for Real already of something. The plus sidee: Bailly and Rojo snuffed out Lukaku as if he was Gary Birtles (younger guys, look him up ha ha). All that said, of course, their goal was a fluke: I don't think for a moment Jagielka meant to do that and I said from the first sight of it that Zlatan's goal should have stood while the morons Savage and Hoddle praised the linesman for getting it "right" and had to suddenly backtrack. Conclusion: we won't finish in the top four unless we go to City, Spurs and Arsenal and get nine points... As for Sunday, anyone want to take bets that Sunderland suddenly remember how to score?

If you want to blame anyone for the first goal, how about Blind. His tracking of the ball was awful. that led to the flick on. I thought that Rojo was marking tightly and the shot was just a good one.

As for Martial, what has he done to deserve automatic inclusion? His end product and production have been dreadful pretty much all season.

Couldn't believe the mhki for Carrick sub. Had to be fella for him. Allow mhki to be a goal threat and Carrick to dictate play!

Lost count how often I've said this in the past three years: we need a world-class winger. And let's not pretend Bale is going to come to us or go anywhere else for that matter. Do these guys exist any more? Can you imagine how many goals Zlatan would have this season if David Beckham was pinging it on to his head every week

I agree. if a tired Carrick is a million times better than Fellaini (or Anders on last night's showing)

I agree, mate. Blind was shocking throughout.

As for your point on Martial, I don't mean to devalue you, but Lingard is the same on most occasions, Martial is a good outlet and needs to play. He needs to take Rashford out of the firing line.

In the cold light of day I think its OTT but its certainly what I was thinking last night.
SAF said that you need 5-6 players playing well to win.

My apologies. It was more Fellaini's fault but Blind didn't track the ball's projection either. Still, I find it hard to blame Rojo for his marking when he was practically glued and goal-side to PJ.

for everyone putting the blame on the players for home draws.. simple question .. when is it the manager's fault? do all the teams we drew at OT have better players than united?

I'm not saying that Lingard has been any better.

"
Manchester United’s 9 home draws in the league:

Shots - 172
Shots on target - 55
Goals - 6

3.48% shot conversion rate. Awful. #mufc"

I see more criticism for Jose than the players (is Mourinho still the special one, etc). He can't put the ball in the net for them. It's a collective blame ultimately but our players really haven't done themselves or Jose any favours this season.

Even under Van Gaal I saw alot of games where if we had another 10 mins at the end, we would've won. It's like we can create a lot of chances but only when there are 5 mins left and we need a goal. Why can't we play with the same intensity for the majority of the match or at least in the early stages of a match?

There is a big problem at the club and has been since Fergie left. I expected a decline but after all the money we have spent I didn't expect us to fall so much. Until we start consistently winning and putting teams to bed no one can really convince me that everything is going to be ok.

This is quite depressing but it'seems got to the stage now where every game against the likes of West Brom, Hull, Sunderland etc is a massive game for us where we must play to our best to win. Under Fergie you'd be surprised if we even conceded against them lot.
