    No, not Lisbon..Lisburn!
Lot of snowflakes on here already.
Jose ought to be fired up for this. Do you think he wants to lose to the abomination he was passed over for the job nearly four years ago?

Sunderland are dire. Don't think we will even have to put in much effort to win this.

So, I am sure we will win this, but don't think our performance will be up to mark. Ideally, a minimum of 2 goals have to be expected from us against such a weak opposition, but given our attack related woes, it will mostly likely end up being a dull and frustrating 1-0.

YES - this team would batter Sunderland. Indeed this team would score a shed load of goals at home as well! It is a team Ferguson would have played with this squad.

The squad is good enough to win the league but the manager is too conservative.

As I said previously if mourinho had the 99 squad with cole yorke and scholes, he'd have played cole or yorke with scholes as the No 10. Ferguson played all 3 and that my friends is the difference.

Most of the time yes but there are a few exceptions each season in Europe.
There is no allowance from UEFA for loan players to be prevented from playing against their parent club in the CL/EL, it has happened a few times that players have played against the club that owns them in the last few years - Patrick Roberts scored for Celtic against Man City in the CL this season, Kingsley Coman helped Bayern knock Juventus out of the CL last season are ones that I can recall off the top of my head.

You would think...wouldn't you? Unfortunately for some reason these types of teams find beating United the most important goal of the season, even more important than putting up a relegation fight! Expect the goalie to have a worldy and every Sunderland player to play like Roy Keane on steroids!

Any negative team news this morning?

I notice the bookies have moved our odds out quite significantly from 4/11 (1.36) to 4/9 (1.44) in the past few hours.

MEN's take on the squad, most have been seen on team bus/hotel pictures on players' social media.

    De Gea
    Romero

    Valencia
    Fosu-Mensah
    Darmian
    Bailly
    Rojo
    Blind
    Shaw

    Carrick
    Fellaini
    Herrera
    Pogba

    Lingard
    Mkhitaryan
    Martial
    Rashford
    Ibrahimovic

The squad pretty much picks itself.

Not hearing of anyone added to the injury list yet, just Rooney, Mata, Smalling, Jones and Young.

Travelling Squad should be something like this:

De Gea, Romero; Valencia, Bailly, Rojo, Blind, Shaw, Darmian, Fosu-Mensah; Carrick, Herrera, Pogba, Fellaini, Lingard, Mkhitaryan; Ibrahimovic, Rashford, Martial

My guess is De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Rojo, Herrera, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Ibrahimovic and Martial start for sure. Left Back could be anyone from Blind, Shaw or Darmian, while the other place is out of Lingard, Fellaini or Rashford.

Carrick played the last two games so I think he'll be rested for Anderlecht or Chelsea.

Hope they follow through and ruin the atmosphere. We need to run up a cricket score against this relegation fodder. 5-0 would be fantastic.

Not all doom and gloom yet-Should Liverpool finish fourth and Manchester United end up outside of the top four, and both Leicester and the Red Devils win their European trophies, Jurgen Klopp’s side would have to settle for a Europa League spot rather than a Champions League place.

Exactly, I think this season Lacina Traoré scored against Monaco in the group stages too.

To add more salt, they finish 1 points behind third place... Klopp would go mental recalling the offside goal & 2 point loss :wenger:

Gutted that I can't watch the game.
I have to go here with the wife, sister and mother.

It'll be full of sharks, snakes and disease carrying insects, but that's Sunderland for you.

I can see a 1-1 you just know Sunderland will raise their game, and old wrinkly will be spouting off prior and after the game how he wasnt given enough time at Utd etc. Think we will go behind probably Defoe. Then after loads of half chances and a couple of clear cut, Ibra will equalise in the last 10-12 mins. Will probably have 65% possession due to taking 10 passes to get out our own half, before changing tactics and start hitting 60 yard passes to Fellaini and Ibra with 20 odd mins to go. Arsenal will then win on monday and we will be left battling 6th with Everton.

I don't think we can accuse Sunderland of raising their game. They are shite. The only thing they have raised this season is pity from opposition fans. Failure to beat them today and we're all out of excuses.

Possible. But I don't think a David Moyes inspired Sunderland will be able to frustrate us the way other teams have. I am not saying that we will smash them. Just that Sunderland will not be able to avoid defeat.

All teams fighting relegation have at least shown something resembling a fight, Swansea beat Liverpool, Crystal Palace have beaten Chelsea. Sunderland on the other hand have shown nothing at all. They find it hard to even draw matches.

Nothing short of an absolute battering will satisfy me against these. However, we will win this with an uninspiring drab performance.

I dont think that will happen though, although it would be nice. Im still hoping we can clinch 4th at least, long shot now I know.

The winners of both the Champions League and Europa League are guaranteed participation in next season's Champions League while no country is allowed more than five participants in the competition.
I didn't even see Lester there. Guess I should read before replying...

    Sunderland since beginning of January.

3 Goals Scored in 11 games = 0.27 Goals per game

22 Goals Conceded in 11 Games = 2 Goals per game

    0 wins 3 draws 8 losses.

Can the depression posts at least take this into account before predicting end of the world scenarios.

You may be right on all counts ... but then again we've fielded teams before, that "should've won", even with Fergie at the helm ... and they didn't?

The squad is good enough to win the league but the manager is too conservative..
Again, you may be right: but for a handful of single goals in games that ended as draws and everything would / could have been soooooo different ... but it wasn't :houllier:

As I said previously if mourinho had the 99 squad with cole yorke and scholes, he'd have played cole or yorke with scholes as the No 10. Ferguson played all 3 and that my friends is the difference.
    If's, but's, & maybe's, but once again, you're could be right!
That said, if hindsight was 20 - 20 etc ... Lord knows Mourino's never won nothing in the past, has no track record of winning anything, no history of success in any of the teams he's had responsibility for ... oh wait a minute ...

There's a 58 page 'protest at Man Utd game' thread on one of the Sunderland forums  David Moyes - Tearing up clubs and fans since 2013
See MILLHILL, ... it could've been worse we could be from the NORTH EAST!

And in Sunderland that is not necessarily 3 different women :D
Now, that's mean! Funny as feck, but mean!

Score a goal in the 1st half and we'll be grand.
    Or score a goal.
This too is funny ... and mean ;)

Meh, this will be a dour 1-1.
    Looking forward to Thursday.
Oh, let's pray spring hopes eternal for dear Kate ... and we win 5 nil!

We struggle at the Stadium of Light, always did even with our best teams under Fergie.

That said if we draw this or lose it then it'll be mightily disappointing. They're an absolutely shocking team who have no right to call themselves footballers (bar Defoe who'll probably score today) and Moyes is an absolute charlatan too.

Will they be flying a banner too? :P

Everyone else, Sunderland are dire. I know we failed to beat them away but that was during our crap period as well, and I think Sunderland are even worse now. This should be a win, if you drop points, it'll be elsewhere.

I think we'll rifle them. 2/3 nil. We've got blood in the nostrils after the two draws, I can see a real reaction.
