Harsh but good decision. Larsson is going studs up on both Pogba and Herrera
I agree, probably yellow for each of the tackles. But I also think Larson was not in control. Probably 50 50 if red card but letter of law would show ref was right. But like other posters have said Sunderland will get every decision now.

Why is the red harsh ? High foot like that in a tackle is very dangerous.
No need to wait for players to connect with others before sending them off

Yeah, those saying it's harsh I'm sure wouldn't be singing the same tune if he had gone straight through Herrera and done some real damage.

    Luckily the contact was minimal.
Yeah, it's typical shit. It's not a red unless somebody's leg gets broken.

Larsson got only himself to blame for being a twat. Fold your leg and it's probably not even a yellow.

I might be a bit old fashioned but I don't think that it was even a foul let alone a red card.

Ref will try and make it up to them in the 2nd half after watching the challenge on replay.
Which means Shaw should be replaced ASAP. He's already on a yellow. This ref won't hesitate to give Shaw another one for any innocuous challenge. I hate games like this....but it's ultimately down to us to score more goals.

Just glad we got the goal before the red card. Lingards been my man of the first half, gave them all sorts of trouble. Mhki still low on form.

Swear Paul Parker just says everything to be controversial.

Honestly think I'm better at striking a ball than Herrera, and I haven't played football in three years

Never a red card. Careless but worthy of a yellow only. Like half of you lot saying its a deserved red would be saying the same if it was Herrera on Larsson.

Anyway, who gives a shit! feck off Moyes and feck off Sunderland!

Disappointing first half from both Pogba and Mkhitaryan.

I can see why the referee sent him off, I thought it was a red at the time but in replays he does go for the ball. Bit of a leg breaker if he mistimes slightly though.

It's one of those reasons video referees are kinda stupid, you could argue about Larssens tackle for hours in a room of 20 people and never come to a decision.

I've seen teams demand booking and get no boos. Nobody was pressuring the ref here yet these fans boo everything...go figure. The foul was 90% red but people would argue because Rojo wasn't sent off in previous matches for example. Bottom line, you go in with your studs, it's a red.

And if it had been Herrera who'd gone for that you'd be saying it was soft, which it was IMO

watching it again I think the ref got it right. He goes in studs up, you just can't do that.

Yeah, but who cares. We've been fecked over by referee decisions all season.
Well for balance Baillys trip just before should have been a penalty and a red card.
We have had bad luck from referees this year.....just like every other club has.

We still haven't given them the hiding they should have got since their Poznan nonsense in 2012 against us.

It's a clear as day red but, even if it was harsh, which it wasn't, I wouldn't care. Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

No chance that was a red card, definitely a yellow, but anything that relegates Sunderland is fine by me. Hate them.

'Bitter Quinn ignoring rules of the game'
Roy Keane once referred to him as ‘Mother Theresa’.

Quinn so desperate for it to only be a yellow card that he's ignoring the laws of the game which he likes to harp on about so often

No mate you are not old fashioned just blind. He could have broken his leg. He went over the ball, the intent was there and it was a sure red.

Clear red FFS. Had he made contact with his studs up at that height, he breaks Herrera's leg.

Those challenges happen so often and its a different result every time. Usually if it connects its a red otherwise yellow.
