Mourinho needs to realise that Lingard is dogshit and should never start a game and Fellaini should never be brought on to defend a lead.

And what the feck is wrong with our attack play?
Yep, the signs are that he's realised that

Why don't we go for it? I knew we would change mantality as soon as we scored, and sure enough concede the standard equaliser as a result. What sh*t are these players being fed or do they genuinely not care, I didn't see hunger and desire tonight. They looked miserable and our performances certainly aren't improving.

Probably the most angry I've been this season due to importance of the europa now, kind of expect a 2-2 at OT and if not I certainly don't fancy us to win the competition.

Bring on Chelsea and yet more disappointment.

We usually say that the defence has been great this season, having conceded very few goals. But aren't the goals always very easily conceded? Goals that shouldn't be goals? Like today's goal, bad defending and they scored on their only shot on target. In the Everton game, a bad sequence from de Gea and Rojo and Jagielka scored (for the first time in about 2 years) and it goes on like this. Goals like these shouldn't be conceded, especially when your team has trouble scoring goals.

We have 'blamed' the offensive players for the poor season but shouldn't the defensive players take a part of it too? It's just as bad to concede goals that the opponents score on their only chance on target (or 2 shots) - similar to the offensive players not being able to score despite taking a lot of shots.

Am I a bit harsh or do I have the right to think so?
Romeo didn't make a save tonight. No team is perfect and goals will inevitably come form mistakes, this time from a midifelder. It was a very good header btw.

Our weakness is finishing teams off, not keeping it tight at the back.

Can't believe people think drawing with Anderlecht is a good result? This isn't Bayern Munich or Barcelona away it's a fecking average European side who If they played any other decent European side then they would have been walloped 4 or 5-0.

Shows how far backwards we have gone as a club in a few years. Yes we got an away goal but it's not acceptable drawing against shit teams like this...it's becoming a cancer on us
I'm actually shocked that people still regard us as this power house in Europe, when in actual fact we are just not. Maybe when you accept we aren't, you'll learn that we stand a good chance at going through to the semis after tonight's result.

At least this campaign we're not getting absolutely played off the park like we did in other years

Draw the away leg, and then it's a completely different story at our place. And at least in this cup we seem to remember how to score!
Mate I dont think anyone is worried about this tie. We played them off the park at their own stadium.

Nothing is for certain, but if we turn up at OT, we will walk through them.

Its the nature of us letting a lead slip away via shite players coming on, and also not finishing easy chances and being more ruthless is whats bothering most of us.

Well isn't it a 'weakness' to concede goals when the opponent just has 1 shot on target?

I remember loads of performances away in Europe like this under Sir Alex back in the day.

Get the away goal and then try to make it difficult for the opposition to score.

We were in total control tonight. Anyone moaning about the performance is just annoyed that we conceded late on.

Most here would have taken 1-1.
This is a fair comparison. Just that now we are in the Europa league doing it against lesser level opponents instead of the Champions League.

I think that's the major frustration for fans - we're not lighting up a competition with this level of teams and wanting much better as a whole

Get an early goal in the return leg and we will hammer them. But the longer it goes without that goal, the more nervous it gets.

Jose post-match:
- "We have to kill matches"
- We had lots of space, lots of chances missed due to "very bad" decisions in the final third
- Darmian, Bailly, Carrick, Rojo were "very solid"
- Blames the forwards for not killing the game
- Rashford was "same as the others" - not killing the game off :wenger:
- This result does not change anything for the Chelsea game.

This has been the big criticism of Jose for me. His blind loyalty to Fellaini, Darmian (even though he played well tonight) and Lingard. It's costing us big time yet he doesn't seem to ever learn from his mistakes regarding these players.

My rating for the match
Romeiro 5 - might as well fielded an extra outfield player.
Darmian 0 - No attacking threat at all ffs. We are not fecking stoke. Our left back attack more than defend. Why could Evra stay young forever.
Baily 4 -Where was he when we conceded? His area! At least Rojo was marking someone
Rojo 4 - Smalling reincarnated on the pitch suddenly. Hoofs it blindly every time.
Valencia 5 - Not the usual self, but he alone possesses more threat than Darmian and Martial combined.
Lidgard 3 - I honestly did not realise he played this game.
Rashford 5 - Nothing specific to mention (c) Football Manager 2015
Pogba 6 - Better than usual, but not 90M
Carrick 8 - Rock solid. Always right time in the right place. Why is Fellaini getting more mins?
Mikhi 3 - I know he scored the goal, but absolute crap apart from that. In the first half worst player on the pitch, in the second read comment for Lidgard.
Ibra 7 - motd for me. Carries our team in attack. Otherwise we have 6 Tevezes in attack aka headless chickens.
Lidgard 0 - Absolute shite. I might have mentioned him already but ffs we are playing with 10 men here every game. 100k a week? 100k Zimbabwean dollars is what he deserves.
Martial 0 - Worse performance I have seen from him. Their right back absolutely owned him. It is as if he was a dog on a retractable leash when he came on.
Fellani 0 - Oh Iam just not gonna bother to mark the goalscorer, I don't want to run today. Let Darmian who played a full 70 mins more than me take care of that guy.

That "weakness" is maroune fecking fellaini. Twice now he is brought on to defend/kill off the game and twice he has failed miserably just like against everton.

Such a rubbish player that brings our level down significantly.

We utterly dominated them away from home and Romero didn't have to make a single save. Our form has led us to the quarter finals, we're at home with an away goal. What possible clues did you witness in that game that has led you to this conclusion?
I agree we dominated them and, for an hour or so, played well. The problem is even when we play "well" we don't win convincingly.

Now, we're at home where we are notoriously poor, where, like this game, if we give them that one chance it could kill us. I'm not confident at all but I'm not completely writing us off like it's an impossible task.

This pretty much. I've been critical of Jose for this tactic in the league but in Europe it was common under SAF. Just make sure you score away and win the home games was his mantra.

One Fellaini brainfart away from a perfect European away result.

Good performance. We have nothing to fear from them. The only downside is not scoring the goals so we can rest players next Thursday.
I'm honestly more concerned about ourselves and our inability to score goals. We need to start putting away more of our chances.

Been the best RB in the league by a mile this season.
Although that is arguable, not disputing that point. He probably deceives a lot of us with being such a good outlet on the right. Not sure if a stat exists, but I'd like to see the number of times he isolates a defender on the right wing with the situation then fizzling out. Reminds me of Navas sometimes in that you know the inevitability of the outcome of the situation.
Anyways, not trying to bash him as he has been consistent in defense but just sometimes you need something extra from your fullbacks to deliver a brilliant cross or create something

Isn't having one of the best defenses in Europe a 'strength'.

Reducing a side to one chance a game is a positive thing, yes.

I can't ever recollect a United side which was as wasteful in front of goal as this side. What's more, our egregious inefficiency somewhat masks the fact that we do regularly create very good chance, a major improvement on last season.

You forgot, who is the coach. 1-0 or 2:0 at most, sometimes 1:1. Well, if Lingard would have finished that chance in the first half, Miki's shot would have gone in and maybe Fellaini's shot would have been well placed, I would think that people would say, great game, good possession and so on.
Yes ofcourse if you finish your chances at 100% you don't need to create more than 3 to have a good game and walk away with the victory.

The thing is we don't finish our chances at all, so if we want to score a goal we have to create chances and keep creating them. Especially when the other teams plays so weak as Anderlecht did today.

But Mourinho seems happy when we are 1-0 up and immediatley switches to defensive mode but we rarely or never are capable of shutting shop if we want to, we always concede some late goal and end up drawing.

End of the story is that 3 or 4 big chances just isn't enough versus a weak team like Anderlecht.

I hope he realises this should be the last time to use fellaini other than the most severe injury crises. Also hope he sells him this summer.

Had we conceded keeping the same team a number of posters would have been saying we should have shut out the game.
I guess that's why one can never be 100% correct, but as I said in one of the JM threads, what did Fellaini do that the likes of TFM couldn't have done? Atleast he showed some grit and fight in him when he came on for those 5 seconds. It's getting slightly annoying with these negative tactics, Mourinho keeps talking about United being the biggest club in the world, and his go-to tactic is always closing teams out 1-0? The teams looked nothing alike in the two halves, and I refuse to believe 22 players all of a sudden turn to shit, or for Anderlecht, suddenly come good. Mou has to take some blame in how he set up the team in the 2nd half, looked like Rashford were told to not sprint forward anymore as Darmian often overtook him and ran with it (admittedly not very far before he was stopped ;))

Even Carrick is angry (or as angry as ive seen him ever!)

Would love to see that changing room - bunch of players think we've already won Europa and happy to coast around. Even Carrick is pissed so imagine Mourinho
