Not a huge fan us starting both Lingard and Micky. Still have a nightmares from that City game in the opening stages of the season, where they pressed us all over the pitch and both crumbled badly. Same tactics are to be employed by Vigo tonight. Worried but lets see.

    Why is it strange?

A clear chance at home to break into top four, we blow it.

Closest rivals just dropped points, another chance, we blow it.

Liverpool unbelievably lose at home to Palace, again another chance, we blow it.

Again and again and again another chance, and again we blow it.

Okay, this is unusual, who gets chance after chance like this, here is another one.....ouch! We blow it again.

So what is strange about tuning off? You want me to get a heart attack?
You are missing my point. What I find strange is you feel the need to ask fans if they are still watching United? Well yes, we are all fans here aren't we? Just because you have decided to not support your team through tough times, doesn't mean others will do the same. I found it strange. Yes. I do also find it strange you have given up on the team you support, but that's just me mate. Each to their own I suppose.

His work rate and energy is the only thing getting him games here. He doesn't have much else.
I think even that shouldn't be enough to warrant him another start which makes it like 6 or 7 in a row despite being quite poor in about 5 of those.

I think Mou should look more from Lingard. Starting him this way just doesn't feel right, he's put 3 or 4 poor performances in a row and has somehow managed to start the every next games for a while now.

Everyone else is working hard too.

Silly to not start DDG in this IMO. Why take the risk?

Yeah, still watching. Don't think we will get top 4 and I do think we should be focusing on Europa. But I have several friends who are Gooners and particularly hate losing to them.

    I understand mate.

Just being a bit sarcastic but seriously, I predicted 5th position for United sometime around December last year. It seemed too obvious to me. Right now, 6th position is more like it.

But I am pretty confident about the Europa. At the same time, I predicted United would lift the trophy. So far so good.

Difficult to guess the team tonight. Not many certainties, only Valencia, Herrera and Rashford, I would suggest. I reckon something like this:

    Romero
    Valencia Bailly Blind Darmian
    Fellaini Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rashford Lingard

If they want to attack us or try and control the game, then we will be delighted to play on the break.
Not had a full house too often this season.

Hope we finish this tie comfortably in huge advantage so that it's practically over in this game only, so we focus on both fronts without worrying for return leg.

    Away goal is absolutely crucial.
We can't afford to be wasteful again tonight.

If we can just get past Celta, I'm very confident we'll have too much for Ajax.

They are playing a very attack minded team. Aspas would usually play up front for the big games.

To be fair Romero has been solid and made some good saves when called upon. It would be a kick in the teeth to drop him at this stage given he's not done much wrong along the way. It's hardly 'silly'.

It's an english thing. Pace is everything.
The "must use pace" argument does irritate me.
Pace is one thing, but I'd take clinical finishing over pace, every time.
Lukaku, Ibra, Costa, Kane - all leading scorers in the EPL - none of them particularly fast.
The likes of Martial, Rashford, Wallcot, etc - very fast but don't score many goals.

I can only think that some fans believe that dribbling/running fast is more important than actually scoring goals!

How Lingard is starting is beyond me and not playing DDG is just bloody stupid. Reading into this Jose believes he can raise some cash selling DDG and buy a backup keeper to Romero, who may have done well against dross but his decision making is atrocious.
Or maybe Romero has played every EL game this season and has done pretty damn good throughout.

Good team. Loving the midfield. A good balance. Creativity, energy, strength, etc.

    Still can't believe we've got Pogba. :p:p

Nice to see Smalling on the bench. Reckon he'll start against Arsenal.

Until Romero screws up, he'll keep playing.
Jose likes to reward players who do well, for him and chastise players who don't do well for him.

One of those matches that are so important that it actually isn't any fun watching.

Will physically hurt if we lose.

This kind of thinking is nonsense, IMHO. The future of Man United is dependent on winning this trophy and getting into the CL. How we are happy to risk it, so we don't offend a mediocre to good goalie is absolutely beyond me.

on paper - it's completely stupid not to play the significantly better GK

perhaps Jose thinks he isn't SO significantly better / worse & isn't a bad option for next year

more optimistically, maybe Jose thinks Celta are rubbish & that it shouldn't matter

    I don't like it meself, :(

The atmosphere in Vigo is rocking. Expecting a very tough game tonight.
That atmosphere in their stadium will be electric.
I think because so many tickets are sold to corporate clients, the atmosphere at OT, tends to be a little dry and well behaved.

Going off your other post, you believe it to be because he's not starting our "biggest game of the season". When in reality he's not starting in a Europa League game because Romero has been our number 1 in the competition thus far. It has absolutely no bearing on whether or not De Gea is staying or leaving.
Yes this but its a little more than that, sustained media reporting, house up for sale, drop in form, real already attempting to sign him before, Navas having a poor season, our transfer budget of £130m (will need boosting for other areas), girl friend doesn't like Manchester, DDG himself quoted as saying it's permanently dark and raining, he's Spanish and getting to an age where he will want to play in his home league, which also happens to have the best teams in the world, potential lack of CL football for another season...

Reckon he's distracted from all those transfer talks. Also I reckon he'll be starting in the 2nd game.
Hmm, maybe. But it would be very harsh to drop him if he has a good game today.
