RIP. It's so terrifying reading his last Twitter post which was just a couple of hours before he died.

It was a suicide apparently. Makes it even more odd.
Oh shit :(

If that's true I'm basically never going to be able to listen to Superunknown again.

If it was suicide it feels a bit like when Gary Speed died, seemingly fine and then all of a sudden he's taken his own life.

Was there any history of depression with Chris Cornell?

Or Robin Williams. Appeared fine, acted in his last movie in which he played a pissed off dying person (I think it was his last movie) and then he is gone.

Oh wow, that's a shock.

Saw him live once at some random festival, he was class.

This sucks. i was pretty shocked to see this morning. Now it seems there are reports it may be investigated as a suicide which is even more tragic if it turns out that was the case. Highly talented guy.

It's all incredibile if is a suicide:

1. Rich
2. Beautiful man
3. Talented
4. Beloved by fans and critics
5. Has a family

Can't see any reason, and any plausible explaination

Only explaination could be an heavy depression caused by some inner mental disease, or drugs abuse.

Heard some people talking about this earlier and hoped I'd misheard. Very sad news. I loved Superunknown and Down on the Upside in particular.

This is a really hard thing to get your head around. Usually you expect someone to take this drastic course of action after an obvious, debilitating bout of depression. It's hard to imagine how he went from posting in an upbeat manner about a show one night, to performing the show to taking his life a few hours later. Feeling for his family, apparently he had three teenage kids, how do they come to terms with this? It's devastating.

Yeah, its tough to accept - big, big fan of him and a lot of the Seattle sound. He battled depression all his life, just goes to show money & success doesn't cure or solve everything in life. Anyone who has been around people depressed knows, sometimes there is nothing you can do for them

What a talent, what a voice and what a generous contributor to music

He doesn't look good at all.

That's pretty eerie isn't it. He's clearly unwell, be it drugs or whatever. He's so far behind the rest of the band that they have to slow down for him, and even then it's still noticeable. He looks right at the camera at 1:54, to think he'd be dead just hours later. :(

I'd assume this is leading towards a similar fate of Carradine/Hutchence at this point......and have thought that since the second they revealed a "band" round his neck. But obvious speculation, never know who truly has demons hidden away.
