It is getting closer guys. Win this and we get

  • A good, competitive game in European Super Cup and a chance to win a trophy straight away
  • Champions League Football. We may not be ready to dominate it yet but we sure are ready to go past the group stages and the first knock out round. That ought to bring some delicious fixtures at Old Trafford.
  • We can attract top tier players without having to pay crazy amount for them. Of course, players cost you more when you are not in CL.
  • Our players get a positive exposure, get a European final victory under their belt and it could very well set in motion the much awaited recovery we have all been waiting for.
  • We get a shiny trophy that the club has never won. Finish the season off on a high note.
I know it's feels weird to be excited about aforementioned things as a United supporter because us supporters have seen much better highs. But, it's all about acknowledging our current situation and take on the recovery process step by step. I have seen many supporters berating the EL and berating other fans for being excited about being in EL final. But then again, that's expected from people who know little about how football works. Let's support each players who starts irresponsible of our reservations and hope we can win on the night.

Edit: Must acknowledge how hard it must be for people from UK, particularly Manchester, to be excited about a game of football with saddening incidents unfolding around you. No trophy could possibly make up for that kind of loss.

Usually before a game, I have some idea on what to expect from the game. But I have no clue how both teams will play today :nervous:.

We're in a final and I should feel all kinds of things. I should be nervous and excited.

Yet, after what happened Monday night, I'm not feeling much of anything.

I'm sure come kick off I will be up for it, but it all feels a bit trivial right now.
Exactly what I feel as well.

Today's the day. I must say I'm pretty excited, which I never would have expected myself to be saying at the start of this season. I can appreciate though that the excitement has been tempered by the events of Monday night in Manchester.

It's so heartbreaking and I totally understand how you feel. This is just a game after all which pales in comparison. However, we have to go about our daily lives as normal otherwise we let those bastards win! Their aim is to strike fear.

Lads please give us a WBA or St Etienne away or Chelsea home type of a game..
Dominant strong performance where victory isn't in question from the 1st minute to the last without giving them a sniff. Play them of the park.

We really need to play to our strengths tonight and take the game to Ajax who as we saw against Lyon, when put under some pressure in a high profiled game they can wobble a little.

Lets go all out attack. 3 at the back, 2 wing backs and 3 youthful attackers. It would work.

Romero
Valencia Smalling Blind Jones Young
Herrera Pogba
Lingard Rashford Martial

Traore and Onana both ill. Would be a disaster for Ajax if they can't play.

Boer is a nine-fingered mid thirtees very average keeper.
Traore is less of a problem with Kluivert and Neres as backups.

Don't worry, he'll have the game of his career.

When I start getting nervous I just look at Jose's cup final record and that always calms me down.

Played 13
Won 11
Lost 2 (both AE)

We are going to give them a fight, there's no doubt about that.

United has always been a club that delivers when it's most needed, after the tragic events in Manchester, they will be up for it, some positive news in Manchester can do the city alot of good.

United should need no extra motivation but given the events in Manchester I'm sure they will leave absolutely everything on the pitch and bring a smile back to the city.

Go on United. Bring it home!

God this place will suck the life out of us if we dont win
It's not going to be a good place this summer if we fail.

I think I will only log back on for transfers/pre season in that case.

If you're going to be consistent quite a few of the "wins" have been AE too then? They go down as draws to be pedantic but whoever lifts the trophy won't care.

None of his wins were on AE. The 11 wins were on normal time.

Jose Mourinho has never lost a final in normal time (90 minutes) on the flip side he has never won a cup in Extra time.

Indeed. He eloquently expresses why today's press conference was rightly cancelled unlike those balloons in here earlier who were for some reason blaming Jose.
Surely no one was blaming Jose or anyone else for that???

He beat us with Chelsea in extra time in 06/07 didn't he? In fact I think there's 4 times he's win cup finals after extra time meaning half of his finals have gone to extra time

I think its not and it shouldn't be. I'm giddy as shit today and find it weird that anyone should think the EL is so beneath us we should not care. Since Fergie left, we have had one disappointing season after the other and it should have brought our fanbase more down to earth and realize we don't have some divine right to dominate domestically.

As you pointed out, a lot depends on this game as the outcome means the difference between a disappointing and fairly good season

Turns out that you are correct, went with sky records that only showed that he lost on extra time.

He still hasn't lost in 90 minutes, which is incredible.

Do you reckon it's the deal breaker for greizy? Don't want to think that but it seems quite logical in light of his most recent interview
Woody said that about Griezmann?
TELL US NOW!!!!!!!!!
Shit.

This sent shivers down my spine.
I'd love to be in his shoes
No names were given but "tomorrow is huge" was a direct quote from Woodward.

It's nothing we don't know already really but just interesting to hear it from the horse's mouth.

I don't think we need Woody to tell us that Griezmann should join if we get CL, when the Griez is saying it himself!

I asked my brother to ask him what he was thinking when he hired Moyes but he wouldn't.

As for his time at united, the jury is still out. If tomorrow we win the europa, how will that be a failure. He is here to stay and we can judge him at the end of next season
We'll probably talk later, match day is for the optimists. Good luck.
