I think Jose showed his hand in those two interviews

Very non-committal on the silva comments. Basically saying "i don't think so"

Yet with griezmann, he says "i won't speak about other club players". The same thing he said about the pogba saga.

IF the rumours are true that Jose gave woodward the list of players awhile back, I think we can assume Silva was never a target and Canal+ fecked up with their source. I'd imagine city was the destination all along.

Makes sense.

Don't you think he can be effective getting the ball and feeding Griezmann and Rashford running in behind defenders ?
I don't think you have the players to control matches the way he'd like. Even though he was great at Monaco, I don't think that was the perfect set up for him either. He often seemed like he was playing in a different rythm than the rest of the team. He'll flourish in a more technical team as opposed to a more physical team that enjoys transitions imo.

But you're right that me saying 'largely innefective' was too harsh, with Griezmann and Rashford there he would probably still succeed. I just don't think he'd fit in nearly as well and that people here are making too big of a deal out of missing out on him

If this guy goes for 81m Euros then 100m will seem a bargain for Griezman who is much more what we need.

City will spend a ridiculous amount this summer, they still need a midfielder and about 4 fullbacks, if they are shopping upper shelf that will take them close to 300m euros.

Surely we wouldn't be signing Silva and Griezmann??? Unless someone would rather Silva over Griezmann, there's no real need to get to upset about him going to City.......plus €81? That's insanse. The pressure on Pogba due to his price tag will soon be long gone when nearly every top player is going for the same price.

People should relax and see what unfolds over the next two months. I'm sure the club know what they're doing.

Wow, this escalated effing quickly didn't it!!!!!

I don't know much about him really but seems like a signing we couldve done with although I'm sure Jose has a solid plan B.

City will spend £250-300million this summer, and the papers will barely touch on it. They'll focus on our £150-180million instead.

Are you watching closely?
 He's a good player and great to watch (I have some doubts about his efficacy), but ultimately, there are plenty of players to go around so no sense in having a meltdown over a diminutive 22 year old from a shite league.
Agreed. And with the way we've set up this season, I honestly don't think Silva would look much more effective than Mata or Mkhitaryan in our team. Funds needed elsewhere.

Well he destroyed City when the played them, I knew Pep is going to be interested since those couple of matches. He fits Pep's style of football perfectly and might just be a very good signing for them.

Yup. Besides ever since Fergie in charge I've never been that confident going into the transfer window. Surely Jose knows what he's doing and who he wants.

Probably been in the works since they played against him in the UCL.

You are making the erroneous assumption that comments from one poster who was never in favour of one player over another have switched opinions because there is a rumour that he is going to City.

The caf is not a hive mind. Please show us where a particular poster pinned over Silva and then did an 180-degree turn?
This seems to have upset you for some reason. I never implied any of what you just accused me of.

Settled? You're signing an entire side lol, there's nothing settled about it!
Oh I agree - nothing will be settled about next season, but if we get it right this summer then the ageing squad and long overdue overhaul that's been hanging over us is behind us, thankfully now that all the contracts of average players on big wages that we couldn't sell are coming to an end.

Next season itself will be hard work no doubt.

I like Bernardo a lot but not having him isn't the end of the world, it's not even the beginning of a problem. If we sign Griezmann, a more traditional wide man will do the trick but I have no idea about who fits the bill.

United will get James Rodriguez or Isco. It's a risky choice for Bernardo. La Liga would be better suited for him.

Simmer down lads, he's a very good player but he's hardly playing in a position where their desperate for a player. If City sign a top class keeper, fullbacks x 2, a centre half and a centre mid then they'll have a brilliant side. Spending £50-60m on a player when you have far more pressing needs is strange.

Not the sort of player that will suit Jose's counter attacking style. He will be a good player for city though that's for sure.

Great signing for city but I can care less. We're getting Greizmann and a striker (Lukaku or Belotti). People on here didn't really expect us to sign 3 attackers in one window right? We still need ideally a CB (Keane) and CDM.

Last window was good and I think we can nedover more of the same. Jose seems to get it right more often than ot.

At least we now have one player less to keep up with :)

If Silva is not on Jose's list, why do we care?

Jose's list for last season

1. Pogba
2. Mhki
3. Bailly
4. Zlatan

When was the last time we had a window where every single signing was a resounding success??

He's good, but he got bullied off the ball vs Juve too often, maybe we can use this tactic against him next season

Wow I'm going to be so fecking upset when we overpay for James while City get Silva. The people saying we didn't need him are going to eat their words hard when he takes the piss for City :(

The good thing about City signing Silva is that we'll have to go out and make a similar statement of intent. When is Greizmann Manchester bound?
Signing Griezmann is a much, much bigger statement of intent than signing Silva.

Daily Mail now saying that the price is 60m(pounds) plus. Not sure I believe that goal.com reporter than 50m Euros was the price.
