If you go back over the video review threads here you'd swear it was a guaranteed winner and anyone who thought otherwise was a dinosaur.
It is a guaranteed winner.

You could just show the thing on the big screen so everyone sees it.

Deserved draw I thought. Both teams shakey on defense. Think the favorite is Chile.

It may be the mexican in me but I felt Mexico played better but were more wasteful in their shots compared to Portugal. We lost the creative flair with the Vela substitution and it allowed Portugal to dominate for a while
The draw is a fair result. We practically gifted your goals. Both teams can't defend tbf. You can't shoot either. That Gelson miss and Ochoa defense to Silva's header were the most dangerous plays in the second half.

You really couldn't. How far back do we go? If the ball had been cleared a couple more times before the ball actually went in would they have rewound it back to check it was ok. If somebody scores a couple of minutes after a throw in do we rewind it back to make sure the correct throw in decision was given?

No give the team a couple of challenges....they decide when to go to review.
Yeah just saying, there are so much debatable instances in football, that when there is a "could be given, could not be given" situations, I'd assume like in cricket the "refs call stands" So you may review thinking that's a stone wall penalty but its one of those soft ones that could go anywhere and just because the ref doesn't see it as one, there goes your review along with your supposed penalty.

No, you stop it at an appropriate point, like how the referee blows for half time and full time.

Mexico celebrating like they won the World Cup. Does anyone care about this tournament?

What's appropriate? Is it done for every goal? It's shit.
When the ball is out of play, or when an attack has been stopped (i.e. goalkeeper has the ball) e.t.c.

I'd rather get the correct decision instead of saving 30 seconds.

Lalas, Ian Wright, some rambunctious Mexican commentator, and a couple of other Americans. Horrible stuff.

Lalas was all right whenever he commentated our Europa League games the past season. Really boring and dull but talks sense.

The coverage on FS1 is horrendously cringeworthy.
 I know, watching this too with my brother and we are cracking up at how bad it is. The commentator was horrendous. They have Gus Hiddink on now, so that's something. Unfortunately offset by Eric Wynalda's presence.

Get out of town. Lalas talks more shite than I've ever seen in a football studio. The man is an utter moron.

Nope. But it's always annoying to conceed in the last minutes. Some players look like they clearly need vacations.

I think all countries in the tournament but Germany care. It was the first trophy ever for Chile and Portugal.

Ok so a goal is scored, how far do we go back to see if a mistake has been made in the build up?

Well like I say, if there was an infringement the game should be stopped at an appropriate time, so that there is not a long gap between an infringement and a goal.

It's quite subjective (but thats why we employ a referee who takes decisions), we could employ a system where after 1 phase of an attack you can't go back and look at it.

I'm pretty sure some supporters around the world think using the video assistant its great, because they have that thing in their native sports; but i cant see how the crowd in footballer countries will tolerate, be patiente and wait that fecking boring NFL-bs for minutes.
P A T H E T I C.
And what the reck they were watching after the second goal??? Stoping the rhythm, the dynamic and the emotion of the game!! PATHETIC!!!
I"d rather see my team losing with a illegal goal than see that BS used in football.

I hated the way it's implemented. It takes way too long, maybe it doesn't seem that way to neutrals but when United score and you have to wait one minute to find out if it was a goal or not you'll find it painful too. And when it takes this long it needs to have an effect on stoppage time at the end of the game.

There were 6 subs + VAR. Yet only 3 minutes of added time.

I'd also like to know the reasons why the ref is calling it. He called it for our second goal and I still don't know why yet he didn't call it for the 2-2 goal when with so much contact in the box there could have easily been a foul.

Does that mean every time the game stops somebody is going be looking back to see if there should've been a free kick or corner etc recently just in case it eventually leads to a goal?
