Perez could have panicked as it was the last chance to get money for him this summer.

Denied the player his preferred move
I think this is what really happened.
When MUFC bought Lukaku, while negotiating with Madrid for Morata, Madrid would've definitely panicked.

I honestly have no idea who made the better deal. Could go both ways.
Depends on the style of play, I think Lukaku will suit our style especially if we get Perisic. Morata will also suit Chelseas style in my opinion. As long as he is up to the toughness of the Premier league. I see no reason to believe that he will not be. BUt I hope he gets a big shock.

Griezmann next summer, and besides let lukaku play ucl first then decide .
We are struggling to sign Perisic and Morata, who were desperate to leave their respective clubs.
What makes you so sure we can buy Griezmann who is clearly in love with A.Madrid and A.Madrid love him?

Lukaku is the better option, since there are no risks with him. He will score loads of goals. With Morata we can't be quite sure.
There are risks with signing either player.

Lukaku has never played for a big club with the associated expectation and pressure, and he has never played in the CL. There is no guarantee, Lukaku will deliver at United. He is well settled in England and the PL, and has been a regular starter for the past 3-4 seasons.

On the other hand, Morata is like the opposite cos has never been a regular starter and has never played/lived in England. He might fail to settle in. But he has played for Madrid and Juve at the highest levels and some very high profile games like CL finals and El Classico.

It will take a bit of adjusting for the lad, but it will for Romelu that teams will defend for their lives against Manchester United. He won't find it as easy as for Everton. There is not the prestige in stopping Everton, United is a different matter.

Also both could be a hit.

Mourinho wanted him badly it sounded like, so of course we have reason to fear he is going to be a success.

Are you talking about Morata? He is 24 and has scored 103 in 271 games for club (plus 9 in 20 for Spain).
If you don't count his goals in division 2 and 3, it's 58 goals in 188 games.

You could argue both United and Chelsea didn't get their first choice but for me Lukaku will score more goals.

No way is Perez petty enough to lose 20m on a player in the space of 2 weeks. This stinks of Chelsea leaking info again to make a deal look better. Similar to how they tried to portray Lukaku joining us only because of agent fees.

If you don't count goals scored on sundays or tuesdays it probably even fewer.
Maybe you are right. I never said Morata is a bad player, I wanted him to sign for us but his goalscoring record is not great at top level. Last season was an exception but it can be because of a) he is finally matured as a goalscorer or b) his teammates made him look better than he is as it's always easier to play when you have Ronaldo, Modric, Bale etc. playing in your team. Well, we will find out very soon :)

Exactly. Funny how Matt Law also reported the fee is 75 Million and then after some time said "exclusive, it's only 58 million".

I think a lot of posters on this forum think these massive company's are like teenage Twitter users. I have a hard time believing they're so petty as to leak stuff like this or spite another club by accepting a lower fee.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
Since when did we start counting B team goals?
When looking at players overall goals scored, I've never thought to exclude goals scored in lower divisions.

Real Madrid B play in the proper league system (rather than a reserve league like in England) don't they? IF they don't fair enough, they should not count.

Fergie's Backyard.
Which part? He will be first choice, he will be playing next to a world class player in Hazard, and referring to Conte as the best PL manager while arguable, is hardly a stretch.
Every part.

Here means yes, a Utd fan.

Will he be first choice? Yes.
Do we have a world class talent in the team? No.
Would I prefer to work under Conte or Mourinho? Conte.

Struggling to see what's ridiculous about that.
To say, as a supposed United fan that moving to Chelsea is a better move than moving to United is what is ridiculous about it. United is always the better move.

Happy for Morata. He finally got a team to shine. The fee is also good.
It's dangerous to sell to C.L clubs but on the other hand we can't expect that they'll go to minor teams for those fees

There are no 2 ways about it.
Chelsea have got a good player with great potential for a price which Real would never have offered us. It is moot to discuss if Lukaku or Morata is the better player. Morata scoring good no of goals would not surprise me.
Congrats to Chelsea for getting him.

Hope he sucks though :p:p

Think both managers will be happy that they got their number 1 choices. The fans of both clubs should just make their peace with that and not spend the whole season sniping.

plus feck the transfer fees. It's a useless stick to beat rival fans with. We should all be happy with what the club achieved (trophies, top 4 finishes, good fighting spirit on the pitch, player skills etc) and not how much they paid the agent, the selling club, the player or the tea lady.

I genuinely couldn't less about transfer fees but I just can't believe Perez would be petty enough to turn down that amount from us and then go ahead and sell him to Chelsea at 20m cheaper. He likes making money on his fees and he'd have milked them for all he could.

You think your club or a massive company would never lie or spout BS for a good PR?

There's more chance of Mourinho bringing in Rafa Benitez as joint manager and Wenger as director of football.
Sadly true.

Agreed.

Did they?
Looks that way, yes.
