in form Aurier is one of the best RB's in the world imo, and a good, young, (arguably) upgrade on Valencia, def has a high ceiling. I'm assuming he just wants to get on with his football now, and if the deal goes through, hopefully Mourinho can help him mature. Very much a good deal, especially at the reported fees.

Don't think ibrahimovic would too pleased if he stays.

Good thing we are MUFC and not Ibrahimovic Inc then

By most reports, Zlatan stay here, if he does come back, should be a short one, from Jan no? I'd hope he's professional enough to get on with his life in those few months without worrying about us signing a player that would undoubtedly improve us on the pitch

No hope for Shaw?
Is Shaw dead?
Surely I don't have to go over the obvious issues with Shaw?

He's contributed significantly less than Valencia, so if we are buying a full back, I would much prefer one in a position that we need a solution in. We change left back probably every couple of games, and Shaw, even when fit, was dropped from the entire match day squad more often than he was in it.

I'm not saying we should sell him, but his position is the most obvious weakness in our starting XI at the moment, whereas right back is probably the very least, with our player of the year playing there.

If he recovers and gets fit he still has the potential to be the best LB in the PL!

Perhaps. Although he still couldn't cross even before his injury. Anyway, that's up to him, but this is United. We can't wait while we don't have a left back not delivering. If he picks it up, great for him and great for us, but at present, our contingencies are not up to it, and the team is imbalanced as a result. Another season with the LB situation as it was will really slow the progress of the team. We should have signed Robertson, and I'll take Tierney for cheap too. Shaw can get himself together at his own pace.

This summer is so boring. Even with Matic/Perisic our squad still won't be much better than last season.

feck it but I'm already looking forward to mid season when Ibra and Rojo possibly come back

What is it with you lot and FB's crossing?

I am surprised we haven't even been linked to a LB. All summer we have been linked with Perisic, but we need a LB more than we need a LW, unless Mourinho is planning on playing Perisic as a wingback.

Shaw exists. Would you rather spend 50+m to compete for a LB thus officially throwing 30m+ investment in Shaw than paying similar for a winger which should come do his own job (we don't have no real winger) thus giving chance for the 30+m LB investment a chance?

One thing I have garnered from this window is that the Spanish press know almost nothing.
The big buying clubs are from overseas this summer. Spanish papers may know that Madrid hold out for Morata for example, but they have no idea we also targeted Lukaku secretly. They know Barcelona trying to unsettle Verratti, but they don't know PSG internally schemed to pay back with going for Neymar until it was too apparent to ignore. So it's understandable

Well what it is, is that our left winger is more a striker. And in any case, was just making the point that a fb that can't cross will struggle to lay claim to the 'best RB in the league' title.

For the record, I don't want Shaw to go, but this 'not giving him a chance' thing needs to stop. He's been here 3 years. He missed 9 months injured, yes - but he's still only had about 5 stand-out games in his time here.

Also, it is you who said to 'spend £50m on a LB', nobody else did. That kind of investment isn't necessary. Also, we can have more than one left back in the squad without it being some sort of insult to Shaw.
