Maybe not the first thing you think about with this signing, but apparently he had more PL assists (7) than any of our players last season.
His assist total will depend on our forwards. Chelsea's forwards were no doubt better than ours so even if he creates more chances it will be down to our attackers. At least he brings more than just midfield stability!

Get in! Not like the Lukaku transfer , which came out of the blue (literally), but fantastic news nonetheless. Our midfield now has a lot of quality and depth, experience and talent. Now get that fourth singing wrapped up quickly, Ed!

35m is decent fee on current market especially buying from direct league rival. People should give credit to Woodward to secures what Mourinho wants.

A smashing job? Chelsea don't want Matic it's hardly a difficult transfer to pull off. We've been after Perisic for over 6wks. They're just doing alright. Mourinho gave Woodward a list and let him get on with it. Don't you remember the days when Phelan took a pre-season game as Ferguson was back home getting a deal done? They're not doing a smashing job. I don't like hyperbole. Reading your last post you bathe in it. I'm happy enough with the transfer. It's alright. But it's not knocking the ball out the park is it? It's just adequate. Delusional? How so? Also watch your language. You think I want to hear FFS from you?
FFS

Did your blood rise a little bit?

Great signing, was the missing piece in our midfield and we weakened a rival at the same time. I think he's gonna be a beast for us, one more signing and our squad will look very good.

Not true. They wanted him to sign a new contract

:( so no more midfield jokes?
Fellaini, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Pogba, Matic since 2013.

You don't find those enough of a joke?

This is always in hindsight, ofc, but sometimes not signing anyone is better than signing certain players

To be fair if you asked most Chelsea fans of the 2 players in our starting XI that needed replacing the most Matic would've been in 90% of peoples answers. So 40m for him at his age is a great bit of business, no problems at all with the board on that one now we have Baka in.

Goodbye Nemanja thanks for that goal against spurs.
Fair enough if you guys feel that way. With Conte's system, Chelsea need an all action CM; with Mou's, he wants a more conservative DM. So both clubs are in for a good trade. I just think Chelsea should retain Matic, at least as a cover to Kante and the new and young Bakayoko.

I read somewhere that Abramovich also allowed their good servant players to go whenever they want, as a reward; which I think it's a good gesture.

That's a balanced midfield right there, delighted with this.

Would have loved Fabinho for the excitement factor but this is another SAF style signing as was Lukaku, Prem proven and will hit the ground running.

Because you're an apparent genius when it comes to understanding the formalities of United's transfer business. We don't need Ed Woodward. We need you.
Doesn't take a genius to have an opinion. Or maybe you just can't handle people who have a different opinion than you? I'm happy enough with the signing. In fact he'd be my first choice out of all the midfielders we've been linked to. But to say "Mourinho and Woodward getting it done" and "smashing it"...high fives all round, is pure hyperbole. It's a difficult transfer window and they're doing alright thats all.

Very good signing, would be perfect getting 1 more CM(or perriera is good back up), and 1 more winger then I`d feel were a complete team
We already have 6 midfielders. Without counting TFM. For a team that plays 4-2-3-1 as often (if not more often) as 4-3-3 that is already too many.

There is really no space for another midfielder. Someone would end up not playing. Mourinho was saying we had too many CMs when Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger were around and now we replaced them with Matic and Pereira we have the same number as then.

Nope. You're the one resorting to swearing. Why not dip a little deeper into that vocabulary of yours and find some more sensible words to use?

Good luck Nemanja (except when you'll be playing Chelsea, of course). Nice guy, solid player, won two titles, fetched a nice fee, can't complain.

Under a tree.
35m with 5m add-ons is a decent deal around.

Hopefullly with avoiding any serious injuruy, with Matic's style he could play to the same age and level as Carrick

I didn't say it did, Is just rather he found more suitable words to use on here. I swear a lot in the real world. We use it like punctuation. But I come on Red Cafe for football chat. If you don't agree with someone's opinion, fine. Talk it over, or not. Differing opinions are OK. But don't insult and swear at them, that's not what Red Cafe is about is it?

If I banned someone for every time they said "ffs" we'd have no one left.

That means it's a "good fee"? It's £40M. If anything it's on the high side. At best you could say it's about the going rate in this crazy transfer window. Which is fair enough, but we didn't exactly get him cheap.
£35m according to the vast majority.

Considering he was quoted at £50m when we were linked first, and the alternative was Dier for £60m, I think we've come out of this one with a good deal.
