Not too sure we can judge much from this as Lingard was looking like prime Ribery, but, all in all, I quite enjoyed this performance. Some lovely football from our attacking players.

Good job that poor Joel didn't get a rating some people would have given him a 1 for that last minute mistake.

Professional performance until the brainfart at the end.

Rashford, Martial and Lingard ran them ragged in the first half. It could have been more but we seemed to settle for the score once we went 4-0 up like we didn't want to embarrass them.

Second half was a training session. Burton played to the occasion here and there. Martial and Rashford were running the show. Just a simple easy night with no harm done either way.

Onto the next game.

First half was scintilating. The second was a good run out for Shaw with Martial and Lingard pulling Burton all obver the shop, an enjoyable watch.

Wasn't able to see the match, but good result, looks like no injuries, and some much needed minutes and confidence to some of our players while resting some key members. No complaints from me. On to Southhampton.

fun watch, albeit ultimatly unsatisfying because the opposition were so weak.

Still, the first 30 mins of attacking play from Mata, Lingard, Martial and Rashford was sublime and Martial contuined that throughout.

I really do feel for Pereira that really was an absolute howler of some proportion that's going to have to play on his mind constantly until he gets another outing with the first team and god only knows when that'll come (if ever).

Post match interview: Martial's English isn't good. :(

Clear MOTM though.

Shite football. Scoring only 4 goals all the time. It's like Mourinho gives up after scoring 4 goals and only tries to defend after that. When will our club come out of this ditch. Total defensive mentality. Parking the bus after 4 goals. We need to buy more creativity in the attacking third. And probably bring in Klopp. I'm sick of watching our team score only 4 goals. At least we conceded one today, so that was refreshing. But that's the only highpoint from today. Long way to go.
Brillliant post. Yay. The sort of insightful critique that deserves a better platform that this mere hovel of misguided optimism. Klopp! Brilliant idea! @MZX7 for assistant manager. Wonder would a director of football be a good idea? What is Kevin Keegan at these days?

It is when you think to rest players other teams have to bring kids in. The depth of the squad is really good.
Yup, I'm still trying to temper expectations but I won't lie I'm starting to get swept up in the excitement...

Really pleased with the way Martial and Rashford played tonight.
Just a geniune question. When was the last time we scored 5 goals in a game?? The last I remember is the 5-0 win over Leverkusen under Moyes. Have we scored 5 since then??

I don't want to be at a failing club. Liverpool is more desirable any way. Even Coutinho chose it over Barca.

This game keeps getting forgotten but we scored 5 against the team I can't spell his name in Europe League last LVG season, the Rashford debut.

We beat a team who will struggle to stay in the championship and they made changes themselves and weren't at full strength, yet they created 4 very good chances.

Against a better team our defence will be exposed.
Agree. First better team will absolutely maul us. Worrying times ahead.

And they have a better Forum, too. By the way, your steely expressionless eyes remind me a bit of someone.

Yea, a lot of people tell me I remind them of SAF. But that would be an insult for me. I consider myself better.

Happy with the performance, don't wish Burton well. What a bunch of cnuts they were. Ref just allowed them to try and injure the players and treated it like a friendly.

Progress to next round, minutes for the players, goals for United fans, and a memorable consolation goal for Burton fans. What's not to like? Our 3rd gk actually got subbed on for playing time, this game is practically played like a friendly.

It was actually 5 - 1 cos Shaw's goal shoulda been allowed.

Rashford - very good
Lingard- very good
Martial- incredible

If shaw doesn't pick up his game soon it's time to show him the door.
Lindeloff needs to improve.quickly.
