They will raise their game, we will lower ours. 1-1
This is what I am worried too. I fear we will give them too much respect. Honestly would take a boring 1-0 but this liverpool side deserves a thrashing from us but we may be pragmatic and grind out the result, which is also fine for me. 3 points is all that matters.

I havent submitted my predicted 11 yet.

Cant decide what JM is gonna go for in the following posistions:

    CB - Jones or Smalling
    LB - Young or Blind

I Think without Fellani its a dead cert we’ll have Herrera & Matic sitting.

I even think JM may even utilise Hererra in a man marking job on Coutinho like he did perfectly against Hazard.
    Jones and Young, almost certainly.

Incredibly irritating to see Morata and Aguero back so far ahead of the original schedule while we have nothing on Pogba.

Thats what im thinking mate. Was unsure if jones had a knock from england.

I really hope Young does start as he’s been in great form. He had such a long lay off and it seems like he didnt suffer from the ole “ Rooney rustyness”.

I am engaged (again!) and my fiancee wanted to meet up on Saturday. I told her to feck off (something like that in polite words).:D
How many times have you been engaged?
It's mine and my siblings birthday, same day not triplets. The missus has gone to book away somewhere 'nice' without no TV. :(
Impressive to be born on the same date as your siblings.

I have mixed feelings about Fellaini being out. On the one hand he's performed very well so far this season, scored the odd goal and definitely merited his place in the side.
However in a game like this I would be watching from behind the sofa (though I may well do anyway!) scared that he would get himself in to some bother due to the hostile atmosphere and the home team would know this and target him.

As for the match in general, would never wish injury on a player of any team, however I certainly haven't lost any sleep over Mane being out.
They still have quality in the team though and we need to concentrate and defend well early when the crowd is at its loudest. If we nick an early goal and make them come at us even more than they will anyway then I think we will win with a bit to spare. I can't see how Liverpool's defence stop Lukaku scoring in his current form, although having said only 1 of the 12 goals they have conceded occurred at Anfield.
Fellaini is perfect for games like this. In fact, if there’s one game Marouane should be starting, it’s this one.

Liverpool are very vulnerable when it comes to set-pieces, Fellaini would have punished them if he was fit.

Fellaini’s chest is also an outlet from De Gea to beat Liverpool’s high press. Liverpool have punished many teams who try to build up from the back.

He will be sorely missed tomorrow.

Problem is, Young cannot defend. Liverpool's biggest threat is their attack so I wouldn't be surprised to see Blind or Darmian ahead of Young for this one.

Young can defend, I don't think he's a bad full back at all. He has more pace than Blind and Darmien and we should remember whoever is LB will be put up against Salad for 90 minutes.

Could be in for a surprise like when Scholes came out of retirement, if he's playing 9 strikers like he says he is. Could see us going with.

We'll need Rashford over Martial for this. Martial can come on for Mata later if we need a goal, he'll tear the fullback a new one.

I agree in terms of the type of player he is, and the form that he is in - the 2 combined make him an ideal starter in theory.

My concern would have been the temperament side of his game, he plays on the edge and is never shy of throwing his arms around when provoked. Liverpool would have targeted him as a potential red card.

Some posters are seriously underestimating Liverpool. We will not hammer them. If we win, it will be a tough game.

Just twice. The first break-up was quite ugly but as my current girl seems to be meant for me, I suppose I am happy it happened in hindsight.:)

I think in-form Martial would tear that defense to shreds. Should start him IMO, but I guess Rashford is a cert to start.

I picked my team based on that I think Jose will go 352 for this or 343/541. I’d like to see him start 2 up top but I’d imagine if he did that it would be Mata or Miki behind Lukaku instead of Martial or Rashford.

4 hours left of work, then I'm off for 3 weeks - 2 of which will be spent in Florida. United - do not feck up my weekend.

Against Salah i think we need Rashfords legs. Not like our left backs are that great.

Their defence isnt great I'd fancy us to score a couple even without Martial.

Sure he can defend as compared to an average forward but if you watch him at fullback it's blindingly obvious he is not a defender. His positioning is poor and he tackles like a forward coming to help out his full back rather than the actual fullback. Against average attackers he can just about survive compensated by what he brings to the attack but I wouldn't trust him at all vs a top team.

Having said that our Lb options are all underwhelming so young might just have to do.

Really? Which matches do you think he hasn't been trustworthy in as a full back? I ask because I don't see him make too many errors at all in that position

How credible is this coverage when they can't even put our centerbacks and central midfielders in their position, left or right?:houllier:

In 3-4-3 we can play Young as a wing back as we like without worrying much about his defensive abilities. He'll have a defender covering for and Rashford can also back track to help him. Also Salah will probably be the one playing against him and he's all about pace really. Young will deal with him fine.

I feel confident, but at the same time I feel this disturbing bowel movement... and it's not those tacos from yesterday. Even though we've been great lately and Liverpoop haven't they always step up when they face us. Sure Mane is out of this fixture, the one player I really rate in their squad. But I just know that the Oxmeister will have the game of his life and score a screamer...

I'm not a believer of any kind and don't resort to prayer... but this time I pray that I'm totally incorrect and that we'll slaughter them.

I personally think we should go for 3-4-3. We would have extra cover against the speedy wingers Liverpool deploys, and we would have the extra width to exploit their defensive frailties. Given that we don't have the personnel to deploy 3 midfielders, the extra defender could act as a half defender half midfielder like what David Luiz does for the Russian mob, and how Lindeloff did so effectively against CSK.

Young played this fixture last season and played well, think with that and his pace and crossing ability on the counter attack makes him a certain pick. Jose really rates him.

People have poor memory. We struggled against Southampton away. Now Liverpool are miles better and more dangerous than Southampton.

If Liverpool win 2-0 or 2-1, that would not surprise me. Equally so, if we won 2-1 or 1-0, it would not surprise me. But to say that we will hammer them 4-0, is delusion at its finest.

    So, from Joses press conference, I reckon we will play;

    De Gea
    Bailly
Lingard Mkhitaryan Mata Wilson Zlatan Lukaku Rashford Martial Young

9 Strikers. Liverpool won't know what hit them.

Not looking forward to this, the high of a win never rivals the absolute misery and despair of a loss.

Liverpool struggled v Leicester, we are miles better than Leicester so to say this won't be comfortable is delusion at it's finest.
Even that represents their one win in their last seven games.
It's striking how you can choose one game to hold up in a run of form that we're on, then you actually used a win as an example. You have to overlook so much about both sides to come to that conclusion.
Are we honestly supposed to win every game 4-0 to even give us hope tomorrow? What kind of standard are we expecting here?
It seems as if posters are considering non comfortable wins as struggling now. It's ridiculous.
