How many fans think that today was in part at least, a 'left over ' from the Liverpool game? I'm not taking about the 'Alamo defence' we put up, but the overall feeling there are some games we aren't good enough to win, so we settle for a draw!

IMO the 'negativity' left over from Anfield, gave Huddersfield all the extra Umph they were looking for. Their first game against us in 40 years, the wind and the rain howling in off the Pennines, Huddersfield players 'getting stuck in to those fairies from United', talk all week of another No.10 maybe coming in, I bet that improved Mata and Myki's confidence.
All the banter between Jose and Conte, in the press, the rumours of Jose's talks with PSG, Jose himself talking about maybe leaving... well not quite right away.. maybe in 5 years? Then to cap it all he talks about 'not being able to rotate because of injuries! In other words he told the team he put out, publically, that "you are the make do and mend brigade"!

Not great preparation, especially with only two days to recover from Benfica game.

I like Jose I think he is a great manager, but he does 'run off at the mouth a lot', sometimes its the wrong time and sometimes its more about him than the team... that I don't like!

Alright Opta, are you confident we'll see off Spurs and Chelsea without slipping further behind?
No clue TBH. We'll find out about this team then. This could be the slap upside the head they need. Or it could be a death knell. 50/50 on which happens.

I posted in newbies during preseason that I would be really happy with 2nd place, and that we won't be champions in minimum six years from now, ten years from Fergie's retirement. Everything that resembles his era should vanish if we should be great again - that means his last players in the team, and Bobby Charlton in the stands. Now, when I think of it, it could be more than six years.
And by the way, we've got ourselves next Prunier, and that's some accomplishment.

International Break ruined us, changing our style at Liverpool further disrupted our flow, losing Bailly, Fellaini and Pogba have hurt us, Jones fitness issues are a hindrance too, Lindelof isnt ready and makes us nervous.

We have lost confidence because we have not played well in a month. We will not catch City anyway so whats the point.

Culmination of a run of poor performances. You could see it coming, well, you weren't surprised anyway.

Yeah this has been coming. We were shaky against Stoke and clung on against Southampton and Liverpool. We can't complain we weren't warned.

He's pissed off and rightly so. Says all the right things in this interview.
Thought it was an honest assessment of what happened. Refreshing when compared with the idiotic antics Moyes and LvG would deliver in their post match pressers.

Let's be honest, in the final third we are garbage. Zero creativity through the middle and on the flanks.
Take the creative player out of most midfields and you won't get much. Our flanks have been a problem for years. Ever since Valencia forgot how to beat a man and cross a ball and we had to drop a thirty something ex-winger at LB. So nothing much from there and we haven't had proper wingers for ages.

Pogba gets paid almost twice what the whole Huddersfield team earns per week. There's something going wrong at the club the last few years. I'm not using pogba as an example, he's one of the best midfielders in the league but can we truly say we've been getting value for money out of these players? Sooner or later, manager after manager can't seem to get the core of the team up for it. So pissed off with us since the Liverpool game. We haven't deserved to get anything out of any of the last 3 games. A point in each game at best. Despite spending all that cash? Crazy bad management here that we can't even really complain about getting beaten by Huddersfield. Shocking.

Point of getting upset, we wont win the league - finishing anywhere from 2nd-4th is the exact same thing.
Well I suppose that we won't win the league would be a reason to get upset! But I wouldn't give up just yet. Despite our recent performances we're still on for a title challenge. It looks a lot worse because City are doing so well. Thankfully our good start gives us a bit of credit in the bank to fall back on, but now we are pushing it. 2 brilliant performances and results (as unlikely as that looks right now) vs Spurs and Chelsea then all of a sudden things look different.

Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed - not a bad attitude to have even if it is dreary.

OK I'm convinced, we were shit today entirely because of last week's tactics & not winning by 5 at Anfield. Mourinho is also responsible for global warming, Brexit & the rise of Islamic State terrorism.

Nothing to do with players under performing or being out injured or the squad quality shortfall in certain areas / back -up thereof.

Once we had three players (Valencia with the ball, Lingard, and Martial) against their 2 CB. Valencia was looking up for options, but our other two just stayed in their positions look like fecking idiots. I don't expect much from Lingard, as he's just average player; but Martial just jogging there on the far side, without making any run.

You can train tactics and skills as much as you want, but that footballing IQ is equally important to be sharpened also.

What does this have to do with anything? Pogba wasn’t even playing. But if Pogba was fit qnd playing then we probably would have at least drawn the game. You also have to remember that we played on Wednesday, so had 2 days rest, Huddersfield had 6 days rest. The likes of Matic looked sluggish and in need of a rest.

This 100%. Added to it, it was a stormy day, just made it worst. looked like they did not want to be out there.

If it was a fine day and we had six days rest, the chances are we would have beaten them.

We were really terrible today. I hope Mourinho went at them in the changing rooms, it was a shocking performance and glad Mourinho criticised them all.

To be fair though we have played 3 games in 7 days and with so many injuries Mourinho couldn’t rotate as much as he would have liked.

We could have done with Bailly, Pogba and Fellaini today. Them 3 and Jones not getting injured and we probably would have won. Can't wait for Zlatan to return. Bringing him on when chasing games will give the team a massive boost.

Add to that, we have the most injuries of any team in the league.

How long are our injured players out for? How long more for Bailly and Pogba?

Squad continuity and winning mentality, underrated aspects of a winning side. Mkhitaryan being dropped was always going to end up in our first loss, said as much a few weeks back.

Ok do we need a new num 10? Looking at Mikhitaryan and Lingard both are shit tbh and are not reliable! Who then?

It's always challenging to play away in the prem league on a Saturday after euro away on a Wednesday (and with anfield the previous Saturday ) so Huddersfield were fresh, really up for it, both players and fantastic crowd, we lost Jones on top of Bailly and within mins of him going we are two down. So many lethargic performances today even after 5 changes. Valencia and Young offerred little going forward, the only good cross was by ......Lukaku, pity nobody else could do a decent corner or cross. Matic has played a lot of games recently, herrera been really poor this week, miki has gone missing, apart from moving around a bit did lingard do anything positive. Cannot believe we ended up hoofing it up towards Smalling, lost a lot of respect with that crap and we got what we deserved...nothing

I know Mata is a nice guy and has a very good charity and so forth but he cannot play in a top side anymore because of his lack of pace and his lack of strength.
He lost the ball for no good reason in midfield with only our two CBs behind him. When they scored the goal he has not reached our penalty box while Matic who was further forward had already run back into our box. Because Mata was the player who was in the deepest midfield role at that moment in time, he should also have tracked the goal scorer because DeGea did save the initial shot.
He simply is not good enough and of course there are other players too who have to be replaced. I thought Lingaard gave a good game in the first half. If we need to get crosses in then it has to be early crosses and not when the defence is set and if so Valencia has to be replaced along with a new left back. I would say play Blind on the left side of midfield with Young as the left back.

Jose, if you're reading this, please halt the defensive tactics. That performance against Liverpool has lead to massive criticism of this team and will have affected confidence. An insipid display against Benfica and then that today. We want you to attack teams and then if we get beat, at least we've had a good go. Playing constant attacking football will improve our attacking play. If you just want to defend and sneak results, please do one. Love and kisses, depressed

Going through the motions of all United's problems combined... a whole package bundled into 90 minute shitshow.

Jones getting injured, De Gea having not one calm defender to protect him, apathy in creating chances decorated with some of the worst passing ever, some individuals showing lower league levels of football and most of all - where is the world class aspect in this team ? Oh yeah, injuries...

Someday, someone maybe will fix that but can't blame some people growing tired of the same repeating signs, every season.

We weren't really meant to be defensive today. We were always going to have to weather an early storm against a side who were seriously up for the game. Those two errors leading to goals knocked us back on our heels. It was just an all round bad performance not deliberately defensive. More about the mentality of the players. Which Jose has alluded to in his post match interviews.

We should have the resources, professionalism and superior mentality to deal with such.

Pls watch Mourinho's post-match comments.

It felt very desperate at times. I'm expecting Jose to give the players a kick up the arse after today's terrible performance. Im expecting a big big performance against spurs.

Mourinho seems so unhappy with some of his players hopefully this defeat is just a wake up call and not a start to a predictable downfall, we have Spurs and Chelsea coming we can't look back too much.
God how much I miss the old Manchester United, I would kill for those days to be back and re cherish every fecking single moment.
I do think he is most angry at Martial to be honest. I listen to his post match interview about players not being up for it.
Martial was so shocking with his effort. I think if Rashford is fit he will clearly be the first pick now unless Martial really change.

Not sure what we will do now. We really need a Martial on fire, but his attitude can be really annoying.

Lingard can play, but he just lack a lot of quality and so inconsistent.

Jose was spot on. The players were to blame for this debacle. It is not the tactics nor the way we were set up. Mata has to take the responsibility for this. He has never to me been that good a player for many reasons.
1. He thinks he can dribble and beat players. Yes he normally has good ball control but he is so slow that most players walking would keep up with him when he is at full speed.
2. He gets tackled too easily and lose possession. Today he should have pulled the Huddersfield player down and got a yellow for that. I remember Ole taking a red for the team and walking off the pitch even before the red card was shown.
As for Lindelof I hope he comes back from this. He is not such a bad defender .
We need to replace our two full backs and get two better players.
I have a feeling that we will beat Spurs.

Jose is the master of mind games. He should have our players 'up' for every game. I know that Wagner, Dyche etc. use the mental coaching of their 'inferior' squads as a massive positive. Basically, they did to us today, what Jose tried to do to Liverpool last week

I did and I agree with him, but he also said that Huddersfield had a lot more days rest than us. The players are only human after all, and in a league such as the PL which is very competitive, 6 days rest vs two against an injury depleted team is going to see a result like this. We may have a much better team but they are still highly professional and had a long time to prepare for the game. See how Leicester won the league with no Europe then struggled the season after. Same with Chelsea last season and now.

that was aimed at Herrera. Jose quoted him saying it after the match, and was fuming over it

It was a stupid quote by Herrera tbh.

He's telling us the players had poor attitude ? FFS you're one of these players. You should have showed the proper attitude already on the pitch with your teammates rather than telling us about it!
