I don't follow Spurs regularly but apart from Dier, Alli and Son, wasn't that their 2nd string?
Pretty much but after the first half I expected more, If Lloris had of been playing we win that. I see why Poch did it, we will only know if it pays off on Sunday. If we don't get a result then it was a massive mistake.

What if you win on Sunday but end the season trophyless, would it be a massive mistake then?

Alderweireld, Trippier, Davies has been a regularly and in great form this season albeit at LWB not LCB, Sissoko and Llorente both played at the Bernabeu and well at that, so still a decent team despite missing some players and they would have expected to win that probably, considering West Ham were without some regulars too (Hernandez, Antonio, Reid, Fonte, Zabaleta, Hart).

Ridiculous. You can win 6-0 on Saturday against us yet still end up winning nowt come May.

Spurs that.

I've said this before, look a cup is important but competing for the title is more important for us. It's due to where we are as a club, if we finished 6 but won the LC it would be a step backward. We need to be seen as a competing team in the PL, it's how football is right now. We're not United who are massive no matter how they do for a few seasons.

If you don't see the big picture then I'm sorry you don't understand how football works, if we finish outside the top 4 but won the league cup most fans would go back saying we are a cup team. If you disagree with that then your simply lying. We didn't sacrifice that game today, the team was good enough but simply football happened. We aren't on the same rank of teams as United, I'm giving you respect but you don't see how other teams have to balance competions.

It's the only cup competition we've ever won two seasons in a row (2008/09, 2009/10) and Jose clearly takes it seriously.
It is probably what I like most about Jose. The way he wants to play can be dull and a bit too defensive for my taste and he do lack the ability to coach his team in an attacking sense. Although the mentality and desire to want to win every title around I like so much from him. It is the mentality that win you things in the long run.

While I personally don't agree with it. I see where you're coming from. A lot of United fans also think the same way.

Agree. One bad season in the league can have a disastrous effect on the club as a whole. Players will suddenly want to leave for a "new challenge". Even if you don't win the league, you will atleast need to put up a strong challenge. Your players can earn way more at other clubs and they know it. The only reason for them to stay on is the belief that this team can win the title.

I think it's hard for united fans to grasp. Your a world power, you sign massive players while not competing for the league (that is not a dig) unless we continue to challenge and end up in the top 4 we drop off. I think a lot of United fans think we see ourselves as a massive world beating club, we're not, we're trying to progress, and as a team trying without a bank roller I honestly thought most United fans would respect that.

Whenever a side like Spurs get eliminated from the league cup or the Europa League people make it seem like they got eliminated on purpose. They put a side strong enough to win it just did not happen.

Yes. Just had a look. United had 2 youngsters playing. City also played two. Arsenal and Chelsea played 3. Whereas Spurs only had one young player on the pitch.

Spurs rocking around like they're a massive club when they haven't won a trophy since the Stone Age.

But but but Pochettino is the best manager and Kane and Co are only comparable to the likes of Real and Messi..

I meant there are also a lot of United fans who would also jeopardise the cups for a league game so Spurs are no different in that respect. What I would say though is that you can only go for so long with your current wage structure. Spurs will be a victim of their own success very soon. I can see them getting 'Monaco'ed' in a year or two.

Ur either blind or not reading, we should of beaten them, we didn't. I'm not going to flog myself over it. Where are my excuses?
You keep dropping in that it was a second string when it wasn't. There were plenty of first choice players in the game I watched. It's a poor result for Spurs. Take it on the chin fella.

You are absolutely correct. The League Cup is a great trophy to win if it adds something to an already great campaign like a title and a Cup for example or if it is a part of an extended run of winning trophies year in year out. But on its own, it's not gonna indicate a team is progressing or doing well if the league campaign is a failure. If Spurs finish the season without competing for the title or worse, outside the top 4 and win the LC, nobody is going to praise it as improvement, just look at Arsenal, 3 FA Cups in 4 years and nobody seems to care.

It is a trophy no matter what you call it, hate when managers underestimate it, I was happy when Jose took it seriously and won it and I would love to retain it again as long as it's possible.

But you are United, I'd say if Jose hadn't of won the Europa cup last season and finished where they did most fans would have been pretty pissed.

Yes I didn't say win it and it's okay to finish 6th of course but it comes in January and it can lift the team up so why not give it a real go! Jose likes it since his time with Chelsea too and it's good thing.
