Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Obviously this will be called reactionary, but for too long we've been years behind in our thinking and approach.

From employing Moyes because of tradition, to our lack of any kind of footballing minds behind signings - be that a DoF or anyone else, to the awful, woeful, dire football we've been churning out for 4 years now.

Today, watching this over-sized, clunky, un-skillful group of 'United' players hoof balls up the pitch toward Fellaini and Rom is just not acceptable, not with the amount of money spent.

What will it take to get this team out of the fecking dark ages? A DoF? Another new manager (if so, who?).

I just don't believe that new signings will fix this dated, dire approach.

Even Ferguson used struggle against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Nothing new.

We tried to play technical possession football and hired a "total football" coach in LVG. Look how that turned out.

New signings will fix it. We have nobody like Hazard who can beat a man consistently. We have nobody like De Bruyne who puts in consistent delivery.

Our squad is a mis match.

It's madness we haven't signed a winger.

Only an attacking manager will change our style of play, Moyes, LVG, Mourinho they’re know for either a defensive or a pragmatic approach but in reference to today’s game I saw plenty of games at Stamford Bridge under Fergie be exactly the same

Always a good idea to make a thread 10 minutes after a loss.

The ‘United Way’ has seemed to mean ‘pace out wide’ and all those other cliches.

Our set up is for our men to do the running instead of the ball.

We are lacking proper wingers and we all said this when the transfer window closed.

The players we have at the moment are not at the required level to win the league. Mickey, Herrera, Lingard, Smalling, Young don't have the quality to pull something out of the bag. Besides, we lost due to an absolute mess with our CBs not marking their main guy.

The problem dates back to the glazers' chronic under-spending during the last years of fergie's time. Instead of pulling away from the other teams, we let them overtake us. The glazers must take a huge amount of blame for the mess we've been in since fergie left.

When you combine that under-investment with two poor managerial appointments and it's easy to see why we are where we are.

Every team struggles at Stamford Bridge. Even City who dominated Chelsea, could only win by one.

If we were going to win, it was going to be a fluke one goal, while they would dominate. They have the advantage of being at home. When they come to Old Trafford we will dominate them.

We were away at Chelsea, jesus christ. We've scored more than everyone but City.

Will people please stop saying 2nd in the league as if it’s something to be massively proud of  we are 8 points behind ffs with other teams right up behind us. Is a very distant 2nd suddenly a great position? Nope.

It's not just Chelsea at the bridge, it'll be the same at home. It's always the same against the top 4,5 or even 6 these days, we struggle, we get out played and it's all because we try to nullify their attack while restricting ours. Sometimes we win but more often than not we draw or lose, it's not good enough.
Dof first and new manager second.

2nd in November isn't bad at all. Not something to be massively proud of, but it's certainly not "out of touch, dated, dinosaur football".

True, if we continue like this, we could easily be 4th or 5th by the end of the year.

We have Martial who can beat his man 9/10. Delivery isn't important. Football is more than just delivering a good ball in the final third. What about passing, movement, isolating your wingers so people like Martial can flourish. If we play hoofball, we can have all the Hazards and De Bruynes and still would look shit.

The game has left him behind. Didn't want him as our manager, still don't want him. The football is atrocious.

Hazard and Ronaldo and most of the Madrid team said he doesn't coach attacking and it f*cking shows. Lukaku vs 3 defenders and DDG launching it up to him for 90s minutes with no support. Watched the City game earlier and I'm fuming. Chelsea looked like they had a spare man all over the field and we made them look like prime Pepcelona.

Lukaku had 0 touches in the Chelsea box today. 0...let that sink in for his defenders. Pathetic.

Sometimes I actually think I’d rather have Giggs in charge and go there and lose 4-3 but at least see us do something.

I love how Jose is suddenly this "dinosaur" of a manager, whose tactics have no place in the modern game. Can we take just a moment to remember that he last won the Premier League two years ago? Or that we were blowing teams away 4-0 two months ago? Any chance our recent form has anything to do with our main creative outlet in midfield being out injured (with the injury and drop in quality of our play coinciding perfectly)? Maybe. I don't know.

Agree with OP. Many are blind to it due to focus on short term success but it's going to bite us in the bum big time

It is true, he doesnt do anything in order to improve our attack. He's becoming a dinosaur.

The main problem with Mourinho is he tries to control games by killing it and hoping to nick a 1-0.

All the usual top teams control games by having midfielders who are comfortable on the ball and have the ability to play through the lines. We have Herrera, Matic, Fellaini who for all their worth are not this type of player. We need a scholes, modric, Pirlo who almost lend the ball to their teammates.

These type of players allow you to control the game with possession which then ultimately looks better on the eye than how we set up.

Also allows other attacking players to go forward with more confidence knowing that most of the time the ball will be in and around the opponents box with quality rather than how we currently try to attack.

The excuses are out in full flurry... Jesus christ

"We don't play well at the bridge. Even Ferguson struggled"
We know that. We should be doing better than that. Didn't City, Roma played awesome quite recently at their own ground?

"We lost only 1-0 at the bridge"
Are you guys even serious? All we did was defend. People need some serious reality check.

Give it a few weeks and we'll be out of the top four.

Okay let's see how that prediction goes. We have Newcastle and Brighton at home up next while Arsenal play Spurs and Liverpool play Chelsea.

It’s true

I posted in the other thread that a manager needs to keep adapting and changing. Because football keeps adapting and changing

Jose is still the same as he was years ago in his style and approach. It’s a real concern.

I went overboard with our results in the beginning of the season. But it’s pretty clear now we just got a very nice set of fixtures

Indeed.

We've no direction, not in the academy, not anywhere. And it shows.
