3 TOPS: Young (goal), Pogba (the leader), Rashford (more tactically disciplined than Martial)
2 FLOPS: Martial (very strange choices/positioning, never combined with Young but better second half), LUKAKU isolated

We are a million miles away from City.

Our serious lack of creativity is a huge problem. I can't see it being sorted until we get the right people signed in Summer as Mata, Mkhitaryan and Lingard as our #10 options is just not good enough.

Not the most convincing performance we'll see this season, but getting the 3 points was vital today. Spurs were held, either Chelsea or Liverpool will be dropping points and City have a tricky game away at the game raisers of Huddersfield.

You absolutely can complain. That performance was dreadful yet again, perform like this in the next 3 PL games and we will struggle to pick up 3 points combined.

Mourinho hasn't got a clue how to set up this team, you'd think we'd have learnt how to play against a team who park the bus as it was our undoing last season.
Alright.

Scrappy win. We would have drawn or lost in the recent past. Be in not for Guardiola we would be top and likely coasted to a league title.

Champions, Champions!!!

What an amazingly well-managed final. Stuff of dreams and the best time to be alive.
Champions, Champions!!!

Can’t believe we are Champions of Europe once again.

Why is there no quality control at all? Seriously read that guys posts.

Important win but it was woeful stuff in the main, some decent individual points though, much improved Lindelof and I liked how much more aggressive Lukaku was today than in recent games.

Still have no idea how we are trying to play going forward though, Brighton had more identifiable patterns to their play than Utd, it can not be so based on individual moments of inspiration as it is now, not looking a well coached attacking side.

Looked very tired. Still lack balance. Dont need a #10 when we play Martial, Pogba, Rom and Rashford.

Relief though.

Agreed

Would rather fellaini in than mata at moment and release pogba more but in a 3 not in a 10 position you know.
We lost any craft in first half as pogba was so deep and mata was pretty poor

The opposing team know how to play football. Their coach seems to be a good one

Anybody who thinks zlatan shouldn't start when fit needs their head examined

Don't know why everyone expected us to destroy Brighton. They are very solid at the back, the team everyone is wanking over, City, struggled to score against them.
Basically sack Jose

Exactly. They haven't conceded more than two goals in a game all season, and that's having played City, Arsenal and ourselves.

It’s the hope that kills. It just feels like there is no cohesion with attacking play, and the ‘crossess’ From wide positions bounce back off shins 99% of time. Will take 3 points all day long, but I fear not many points are coming from next 3 games!

That was a shit game and we are lucky to get away from it with 3 points. We should not have got the corner for the goal, and the goal should not have stood due to Lukaku's foul.

Decent performances from Young and Lindelöf.

We're back. Crushed Brighton. Now to crush Watford, Arse and Oil.

By crushed you mean struggle to score a goal, then get a goal by luck and then defend for our lives? If we play like this against Arse and Oil we are the ones who will be getting crushed not them. But I am happy that we got the 3 points.

I don't remember which poster was arguing with me that since Pobga is back, everything would be rosy (the optimism was warranted after the good Newcastle win tbh) and I was like, let's be patient. There have been too many false new beginnings with this team. There are so many issues that one player, as talented as he is, won't resolve just by his presence.

This isn't a one off though is it? Our lack of creativity has been there since the second month of the season.

Well looking at the silver lining, these were the kind of matches where United dropped points last season. But still not good enough if we are to challenge for the top.

Poor performance today, but 3 points is all that matters, especially if we're trying to remain within touching distance of City.

We just need to keep winning. They will slip up soon.

Yep. We're just lying in wait, biding our time, sharpening our knives, pointing our arrows, confident that our superiority must eventually prevail.

We won, but it was a very poor performance. The worrying part is that we do not look like a team at all when attacking. There is no cohesion or fluidity, and the attacking play is very unimaginative.

Mourinho's been in charge for about 80 games now, he's spent a fortune and the football is dreadful. We don't have an attacking tactic apart from lumping the ball into the box.
The reason we didn't attack so well is because they were killing us on the counter and we didn't want to take too many risks. And the reason they were killing us on the counter was that we had Rashford and Martial in the team and little balance, like Mourinho spoke about. Mata at ten didn't help us to be balanced much either. We've played well in 3/4 of the last two games but yeah, blame Mourinho for not knowing how to attack.

why are people moaning

we can't score 4 goals every game....even City struggled against this lot.
celebrate and move on

People are moaning because it was yet another turgid performance. Obviously it's great to get the 3 points but if you can't see why people are concerned then you need to take the blinkers off.

Indeed.

I've seen a lot of Brighton this season and they're a very tough cookie to crack.

The usual RedCafe moaners will have you believe it's the end of the world but Watford will be far more open than Brighton were.

Arsenal always give you loads of chances too.

3 points, Spurs dropped 2 easy points and Liverpool or Chelsea will drop points this evening too.

Time for a beer.

yeah Its best to avoid them, a few have realised Lindelof is not completely useless after all.

Terrible performance - no attacking ideas or shape or tempo. It's not just the players, it's the system and training.. Unless Lukaku, Martial, Rashford and Mata are just shit players and we have it all wrong..

Lindelof won the game with that tackle - got things moving, got the crowd up a bit. Young worked hard but wasn't helped going forward or in defence. That was about it. Zero control from Matic and Pogba in the middle - might as well have had O'Shea and Jones in there today. We need to find a way to assert ourselves on teams - we always seem to be a man short...

We look for more fluid, slicker, faster and exciting when Zlatan is playing. So much for the "he slows us down" brigade.

It is funny but I have seen us play like this so many times over the decades after European games and I still let it get to me.

Perisic would, though.

don't understand how we can have Mata, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, and Lukaku all on the pitch at the same time and still look clueless and disjointed going forward. Thankfully luck was on our side with young's strike.
I agree. Something is definitely wrong. We shouldn't have all that attacking talent on the pitch and still struggle to create chances. I think Jose has done this because of pressure from fans and sent them all out without any structure or plan. Rashford in particular. I don't think anyone knows what he was doing in that first half. He was all over the place.

The price to pay when there are 2 players evolving on the wings 'against their will'.
