why are people moaning

we can't score 4 goals every game....even City struggled against this lot.
celebrate and move on
People are moaning because the performance was shit, hope this helps

Let's be honest, this is dire, isn't it.

Mourinho's been in charge for about 80 games now, he's spent a fortune and the football is dreadful. We don't have an attacking tactic apart from lumping the ball into the box.

The priority is clearly size and strength over flair and finesse, and we've got no idea what to do whenever anyone matches us.

Mourinho's sorted the defence and made us hard to beat, and that's great, but let's move on at the end of the season. Get rid of him and bring in someone who can actually deliver quality football.

And for all the apologists and name-callers, if you think that sort of football is worthy of United then sorry, but you're deluded.
And bring in who?

All that matters if we got the three points.

At times that game felt much like those draws last season. However, once again we showed we are a different outfit by winning not drawing.

At the moment keeping pace with City matters more than how we sh it.

Terrible performance - no attacking ideas or shape or tempo. It's not just the players, it's the system and training.. Unless Lukaku, Martial, Rashford and Mata are just shit players and we have it all wrong..

Lindelof won the game with that tackle - got things moving, got the crowd up a bit. Young worked hard but wasn't helped going forward or in defence. That was about it. Zero control from Matic and Pogba in the middle - might as well have had O'Shea and Jones in there today. We need to find a way to assert ourselves on teams - we always seem to be a man short...
That’s because we are- our number 10s are usually invisible.

yeah Its best to avoid them, a few have realised Lindelof is not completely useless after all.
Mikhtaryan was the best Utd player around here back in August. Now he's the devil.

So many people here rate players or a manager by the most recent result or performance.

They're the kind of people who would have sold Ronaldo in his first season here. And Evra. And Vidic.

And bring in who?
Pochettino? Jardim? Marcelino if he keeps doing what he's doing at Valencia?

I agree this is a valid question but there must be managers out there who can serve up better stuff than this.

I would call this the headless chicken attack but that would demean the organizational skills of headless chickens. They have to practice being this disorganized to be this disorganized in attack.

don't understand how we can have Mata, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, and Lukaku all on the pitch at the same time and still look clueless and disjointed going forward. Thankfully luck was on our side with young's strike.

Because you need something to link it

Mata may have been in there by he was anonymous today and pogba / matic were 3v2 in a lot of first half meaning pogba is spending a lot of time not attacking
It's quite simple really. If your link is not performing you will struggle to attack consistently
No surprises really
I don't think Jose fancies mata or miki right now and may be better off going back to his old 433 from early Chelsea and releasing pogba my having matic / fellaini / pogba in a 3

The price to pay when there are 2 players evolving on the wings 'against their will'.

Not really, it was the entire team which was poor, and even when they were subbed we did not improve. Bigger problems than just the players.

Poor performance, especially in first half. We really are incapable of breaking down any half decent but well organized team. Ashley Young, playing as fullback and ending up as MoM sums it up.

Lucky 3 points IMO, defensively we weren't solid, they had lots of half chances and Knockhaert had Young on toast a few times.

Our attacking is very much worrying, we just don't look like a team when going for a goal, defensively everyone knows what their job is and what to do but attacking is just unconvincing. The players don't know where their teammates are, passing is pedestrian. There are no attacking moves, training routines being executed, players standing still and waiting for a pass, no quick one-two passing to open defences.

Rashford and Martial were atrocious today, usually they play wide but today the wing was occupied by Young and Valencia and they got lost in the middle in sea of Brighton defenders. It's time to remove Rashford from the set-piece duty too, his crosses are too quick and way too close to the goal.

I don't know who our attacking coach but he needs to be replaced, it's been a year and a half and our attack is still not fixed, under LvG at least we knew what the team were trying to do(hog the possession and bore us to death) but I don't know what this team is, it often looks like hoping someone pulls something out of nowhere like Young did today.

We do have problems in the attack and I'm not sure this Lukuku - Ibra partnership will work. But, will happily take the results today, especially seeing Spurs dropping points and Liverpool playing Chelsea now.

3 massive fixtures to go (Watford, Arsenal, City). We will have to do much better than today.

It was an uninspiring performance at home and in the end we were extremely lucky to get all three points.

More than the dour football on offer, what makes it worse is the absolute cluelessness about the roles in the team. I don’t think anyone apart from De Gea and Pogba truly understands what they are supposed to do on the pitch.

Following are a few things we need to fix immediately:

1. Start on the front foot at home. Don’t play like you have been forcibly pulled out of your blanket.

2. Rotate the team. Pogba and Lukaku were clearly knackered.

3. Rashford is useless on the right. Either play him center or on the left.

4. Mata doesn’t belong in this league. Even a blade of glass has more physicality.

5. Let the team express themselves a bit. We are very structured and predictable.

You absolutely can complain. That performance was dreadful yet again, perform like this in the next 3 PL games and we will struggle to pick up 3 points combined.

Mourinho hasn't got a clue how to set up this team, you'd think we'd have learnt how to play against a team who park the bus as it was our undoing last season.

Brighton are no mugs, no team has battered them this season and for good reason, they have a solid core of defensive minded players who know what it takes to grind out a result. They will give many teams a problem this season playing in that manner.

Lukaku cannot even trap a bag of cement. Rashford thinking he is good enough to dribble through an entire team. Martial I do not know what he is thinking. As for Mata, I do not know why most people think he is good enough to play for a top team? He is way too slow. He makes Fellaini look like Usain Bolt.

We are a million miles away from City.

Our serious lack of creativity is a huge problem. I can't see it being sorted until we get the right people signed in Summer as Mata, Mkhitaryan and Lingard as our #10 options is just not good enough.

Don't know why some people keep saying we are million miles away than city
City scored against Brighton in 70 , we were faster than them by 4 minutes.

Lukaku work his ass off
Lindelof , young & matic positive
Rashford & valencia okay
Martial & pogba play below standard
Mata rubbish , zlatan better as 10 than him who would hv thought ? Me

With City's form and a cloud of shit football still over this team our top priority should be to build a cushion between us and 3rd place. That way we can be there to capitalize on any city loss and take away some pressure to qualify for the champions league.
We got a valuable three points today and an example of what we must improve on going in to xmas.

Not sure why Jose is so insistent on a number 10. We really should move to a 433. However, Jose has expressed his love for a 4231, and I reckon his transfers either in Jan or summer will reflect that.

We need two players to move into our front four:

Number 10 - A playmaker. Someone who can dictate the game in the final third and link well with Pogba

Right attacking midfielder - Someone who is comfortable, both cutting in and going on the outside. Has flair, eye for a pass, can take players on and chip in with goals. Mkhitaryan should have been perfect for this role. Maybe he'd benefit from a top quality number 10.

Please no more Lukaku and Ibra on the pitch at the same time. It will be hugely beneficial for the team if Ibra replaces Lukaku but together on the pitch is just not working out. Lukaku is never a winger.

People are moaning because the performance was shit, hope this helps

It baffles me how some people on here think the “moaning” fans are demanding 4 goals week in week out, when we’re really not.

Don’t think it’s much to ask for a better performance against a newly promoted side at home.

We need rotation. Tony V, Pogba and Lukaku didnt look like they could do 90 minutes. Understandable since Pogba is coming back (and had to play 90 minutes mid week). Lukaku and Tony V are pretty much playing every minute (though Tony V didnt play midweek so theres that)

By crushed you mean struggle to score a goal, then get a goal by luck and then defend for our lives? If we play like this against Arse and Oil we are the ones who will be getting crushed not them. But I am happy that we got the 3 points.

That isn't even remotely what happened.

3 points first, performance second.

We got the points, that’s the main thing. Would nice to have been more convincing but win above all else.

It's not just against Brighton. We are struggling for creativity and lack of game plan in nearly every game. City are cruising and most importantly are playing to Pep's game plan.
