No I disagree completely. He shouldn't be able to hold off players in "that manner" because the reason Salah can do it is his height. Do you think it's pure coincidence that the best players at dribbling and holding off defenders are small? Hazard, Sanchez, Messi, for example. You just can't compare Lukaku to him in that regard.
Yep. Low center of gravity helps to hold your spot of earth, and the leverage advantage helps you dislodge a taller person off theirs.

True, not sure even Salah scores many like he did today. By the way, Ibra at his prime was also very strong and powerful.
My point was simply that watching Salah and bemoaning why Lukaku can't shrug off and turn defenders like he does is silly, due to their height difference and center of gravity difference.

I thought it was common knowledge that smaller players are better at holding off challenges and dribbling through players but seemingly not?

Klopp must be doing meth, the way he grinds his teeth is a total giveaway.

fecking Wijnaldum. Running around like a headless chicken. Occupying bad spaces defensively, slow moving, not going to the corner flag at the end.I really hope Liverpool get somebody else on top of Keita. Can and Wijnaldum are excellent bench players.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
Maybe, but it's unrelated, that's my point. It's totally unfair to use Salah as a comparison. Find someone the same size of him who can do what Salah did today and then get back to me!
Wasn't there a video of Lukaku when we signed him where he did almost exactly that move? Showing how he would hold off defenders turn quickly and fire a shot on goal? Also he doesn't even need to do this, just do a lay off or just anything but his ball control actually sucks too much to do this, when ever he tries to control the ball it jumps at least half a meter off him and any chance to either turn or pass is gone.

Imo that manes either he is unsuited for the way we use him or we simply need to use him in a different manner.

I don't know, but I find it quite sad that our supporters use a totally different style of player doing well to moan about Lukaku.

GET IN. Ha ha Marco Silva. What a debut by Carvalhal and with the handicap of playing with Sanches.

Salah is such a greedy ball hog at times, Mane’s goal tally has decreased because of him
He's scored one less this season compared to the same stage last season, having played 3 fewer games.

I can't agree or disagree really. Never watched that many players closely. Cristiano is not small but is one of the best dribblers I have seen, Henry was awesome at dribbling too. As for holding off challenges, while Lukaku is not good at it, Fellaini is very good and the guy is huge. I am sure Lukaku can improve those skills. Coaches and physios would know better though.

Yeah but he's head and shoulders above the rest this year, mane and coutinho patchy and interrupted seasons, firmino doing well but salah is having one of those seasons
He isn't carrying us though but I get your point.

Imo some of Lukaku's best play has actually come when he played a bit deeper or even drifted wide. Interestingly enough the lad can actually cross a ball, maybe we simply need to stop using him as a target man if that's not his style of play.
