Pogba shouldn't be ahead of Herrera for MotM. Played well but did less in attack than Lingard or Mata and it was Herrera running the midfield whilst also doing most of our defending for us.

So anyone know where I can watch the match or at least the highlights. Just checked through sky, BT,BBC,ITV and nowhere seems to be showing any sort of highlight program. I sort of saw bits of the match but my river just kept cutting out so gave up on it.
BBC have it on the red button after 10pm tonight.

I thought Lindelof showed up well tonight. He's no full back, but he did a fine impression of one tonight, similarly to how Wes Brown showed up the first few times in 07/08. He's also possibly the best of our "defenders" distribution wise.

How the hell is the average team rating 6.3? I thought everyone apart from Mkh and Rashford were very good.
Probably because it's rated by people who didn't see the game and look at the result and see we only beat Derby 2-0.

Standard game against lower league fare, even upper championship.

We have most of the ball, create quite a few good chances, they defend deep, and eventually we see it out.

Hopefully avoid big teams next round, and keep this going.

MickyT and Rashford were horrible. My MOTM was Lukaku. I've been tough on him but his 45 minute stint was enough for me to give him the nod over Lingard. Mind you, he should have passed that one ball to Mata when he got to the byline instead of crossing it, and his goal came as the result of a bad pass to Martial that Martial was forced to give back to him, but that's just me being fussy. Overall I thought he had a really good game...

Extended highlights on BBC red button at ten pm - don’t know if they will show it again later

Wonder where all the haters are! Probably drinking their sorrows that Derby did not cause an upset to remind us how bad is Jose for us. :houllier:

It showed that Lukaku is the best CF we have now and Martial is better than Rashford. I would like to make a comment about Mata. People say he had a good game. I saw the match myself and it may look he had a good game as he hit a very good free kick and a few good shots on target. But I see him as a problem because he clutters the final third. If you observe carefully you will see that he comes infield and then gets too close to our players up front. Every time he passes the ball then he moves inside and close up to our players. That means that he is also taking a defender with him inside and the defender is also cluttering up the space. He should be moving away and taking a defender away with him and creating space in the final third.

I know Fellaini was only on for a short time but has anyone noticed how more agile and athletic he seems to be. He doesn't lumber around like he did when he first got here. The trainers have done a good job with him. Handy to have for the rest of the season.

Enjoyed the game. Lukaku and Martial and Pogba link up well, Mata also smoothly joins the group. Lingard looks to have found consistency he's always had that scorer of great goals quality, if he keeps it up he'll go far. Glad to see Herrera follow up his good performance against Everton with another. Rashford badly needs a goal just to ease up a bit. Mkhi unfortunately looks to be a gonner. Good to see Shaw is gain his confidence back game after game. Overall a good night of football.

Cracking game. Looked like the United of old. Bombing forward at every opportunity, counter attacking. Should have won by a bigger margin.

I think you're being more than just fussy. He played that counter including pass perfectly.

After the game against Everton, people said we could never play such crisp, fluid football if Lukaku was in the squad. They were wrong!
Lukaku's movement today was lovely to behold. His link up play was very good. He and Martial changed the game.

And about Martial, I have always said that his off the ball movement is just not good enough. His running in to receive Lukaku's ball for the second goal was incredible! If he does more of that, he'll be unstoppable.

Very good match almost old style FA cup match where both teams wanted to win. Only thing missing was some passionate and meaty tackles.

Some players played within themselves, and we were able to rest some. Thought Lawrence of Derby played well for them. Though Miki could have stepped up a bit. GK was a bit too casual for my liking. Lindelof is starting to show some form and is a good passer, something we have lacked at the back.

Nice to see that we went for it. For all Rashford's bad decision making when playing out wide, he got into a lot of good positions today when playing central. If in form he would have had a hatful. Maybe playing two up front Rashford/Martial and Lukaku would create a Yorke and Cole front line similar to '99. That would be something. Questions the need then whether we have wingers or wing backs to provide the supply.

May we continue this attacking approach for the long term, and feck the cautious sit back/counter or play not to lose. I would have been upset if we had lost today, but I would prefer to play like this and lose than play as we did at Anfield and lose.

I guess it depends on what expectations you had. I knew Derby was going to be tough, but many are still stuck in the belief that The Championship is a bad league. It's actually one of the best leagues in Europe.

Maybe Mata was doing what he's instructed to do. Mata had a great game. Helps out a bunch to retain the ball and bring the rest of midfield in play.

Same old issues but the feels better to see we are riding the wave from last match. Midfield still bypassed too easily and wonder if it's thanks to instructions or players being inept. Looks the former. Fellaini scared the crap out of them and they still looked dangerous in the other end. Not liking the look of messy clearances in the penalty.

Good signs of fluidity up top, albeit only through the middle. Lindelof with a couple of nice touches at RB.

Though that was because Herrera was playing too upfront with Pogba, not like an actual DMF so on their counters most of time there was no one to face them, but it was Derby and we were pressing to get the goal so I have no problem with that.

I thought everyone played well except Rashford.

If he had a brain he would be world class.

Fellaini has said he was carrying an injury when he first got here and payed with it for a while. He's looked a lot better physically last season and this.

The pass was too soft. It should have sent Martial through on goal but because it was so soft Martial had to give it back. But yes, I am being fussy lol
For the love of ... yourman. As Jesse would say, 'Sssh'. We like you, but 'sshh'.

Superb performance even if squeaky bum time emerged following somr rotten luck.
Fluid, in control, probing, variation and progressing and simmering nicely.

Lingard showing that intelligence and dedication will always pay off in the end over simply pace and strength.

I have to disagree, from where I was sat, which is pretty far away, our build up play is fairly pedestrian and most of our attacks are through many bodies in defense. Mata gets close to try and link up the play with short fast passing, I thought he was better than usual today. Im fairly certain if he started running away from the opposition boxes whilst we are attacking there would be plenty of Mata haters on here calling him clueless and should be dropped etc.

I thought we played good attacking football today considering the opposition, who were right up for it and as we have seen, these ties can catch us out if we are not focused, so for that the team deserves the credit.
2 games, 2 wins, both an increase in form. A good nights football.
Not a lot to complain about really

Good solid performance and a good win!

Happy for Herrera to finally seem to be finding his feet and form again! We’re going to need a solid Herrera for this second half of season.

Rashford is struggling but not shite like some on here would label him to be. He’s still created and worked for the team effectively. Yes, he caused a couple of attacking sequences to break down but overall a solid performance. He’s hit the woodwork just about every game recently.

Solid performance from Smalling. Solid performance from Blind. Another solid performance from Lindelof. Shaw is looking better and better.

Pogba slowly finding his touches again. People forget how disrupted his season has been. Bad injury and suspension really didn’t help.
