I'm just pleased every time he plays for the senior side.

Hope to see more of him this season. Maybe if we beat Sevilla like 4-0 in the first leg, he'll get some Champions League minutes in the second? :D

How special is he in the reserves to be getting a senior appearance at 17?
Bit more like Rashford in that they had limited experience in the reserves. In Rashford's case he didn't play for them. In Gomes' case he only played twice for them. Only thing is that the Reserves side is incredibly awful right now.

Nice little cameo, I actually thought Jose might decide not to put him on given the shitty pitch and some of the tackles Yeovil put in, just wish that shot had gone in but the close control when he ran with the ball was exactly what I like to see!

It was clear to see at his chance what he's trying to do - to get the player to the inside (twice in quick succession!) so he could go from the outside. He has that balance and composure top players have to get him finish from the inside of the foot with ease. His very low center of gravity will be a nightmare for Premier league players. And that is why I don't think he will have a problem with his size. His technique on the ball and vision is already one of the best in the team and his dribbling's just a plus. He's an advanced playmaker but could be played from the wing for sure if we can play Mata there..

It would be nice to see him on the bench from time to time instead of someone like Fellaini or Mkhitaryan. Think he can change the game too and we don't necessarily have to hoof the ball, already have plenty of tall players..

So if the starting line up is:

Valencia - Jones - Smalling- Young
Matic - Pogba
Sanchez - Lingard - Martial
Lukaku

we could have this bench:

two defenders (Bailly/Rojo, Shaw)
a midfielder (Herrera)
and two attackers Rashford, Mata

We currently don't have enough of attackers if one of them gets injured, Gomes might get a sniff in

Hopefully Chong gets his chance soon too, we haven't had a proper winger coming through youth ranks in years

Sorry - not sure how to embed it. Who want to see his turn and shot

Give this man some growth hormones.

Absolutely not. I’d rather he stayed Messi sized to be honest. That little run showed what he’s about, too much growth and he’d lose that. Him and Sanchez can be our explosive mini men

Wont be a problem now

Messi was on growth hormones.

He looks tiny. 5'3 maybe?
His future will probably be in the left wing position but that could be a problem in a few years when we have 73 players vying for that spot.

same here- really cute. I hope we will see more minutes of him when games are pretty much won- one for the future this one

He's a 10 so shouldn't be a problem. Potentially could slot in midfield too though that's a push.

Rashford did play for them, something like 2 starts and 7 sub appearances.

Must be really special in training then. Can he play on the right?

probably no need- most likely Utd's answer to Raheem Sterling

He's similar - Even has that strange way of running. Maybe not quite as fast but probably technically more talented.

He looks very special. I wouldn't mind seeing him getting eased into the first team setup towards the end of the season. No need to rush him - Make sure he keeps his head down.

Could someone confirm whether it is Angel or Angle?

That's a good question, I wondered that myself. I've heard that BBC commentator call him Angel in both matches he's appeared in now.

5'6

Not a winger.

He really isn’t like Sterling as a player. He is a technical number 10 who can play the inside forward positions. His attributes are close control, dribbling, ball retention, passing, key passes, set pieces and goal scoring. I see aspects of Iniesta, D Silva and Paul Scholes in his game. He follows into the box and scores like Scholes specifically.

The Sterling comparisons are off the mark. He's not a winger. He's a number 10. Perhaps an 8 even. He can dribble and run at players but his style is all about pass and move. Great to see him get a few minutes tonight

Being tiny is not an advantage.

I’m sure Sanchez and Messi agree with you.

Having a small centre of gravity is absolutely key for that style of player. Hazard another example.

Yes he could put more muscle on to keep him more stable but that will come, I certainly wouldn’t want to see him gain a lot of height.

Can he defend? Tough to be an 8 when you are so small. Teams will put a big man beside you and play long balls to him all match the same way we stick Fellaini beside kante.

We should pump him with PEDs and growth hormones and hopefully he turns out like Messi.

Can’t believe people complaining about his game time.. he did great, he will get chances.

Yep. Only midgets can dribble. Cool.

No. He's 17 and 5'6. He wouldn't win a header against Fellaini.

He's mostly a number 10. David Silva type I guess.

But he is an intelligent player. If he wanted to be a Xavi type he could do it pretty well. He's a magnet for the ball and most things go through him.

Being tiny is not an advantage.

Having that low center gravity and mobility to turn in tight spaces quickly is a strength you see in many world class players in midfield like Silva, Modric and Scholes. It can be an advantage to a certain extent but in an ideal world you have a midfielder like Pogba that can do it all and is physically amazing.

Weird thing to say. It clearly can be an advantage. Doesn’t guarantee anything, obviously, but there are players who absolutely use it to their advantage.

Exactly. Low centre of gravity is a good thing but tiny players without great pace generally need a really good skill set to make it. They need to know how to protect the ball really well, make space etc. They usually have to be quite strong also. It's not an unsurpassable barrier, but it's definitely not an advantage.

It’s not rocket science, the best players in football history isn’t very tall.
