On the bright side, Chelsea got humiliated by Bournemouth on their own ground, so at least we didnt lose much in terms of league position.

Having said that, it was the worst performance i've seen since the moyes days, and we keep having stinkers when playing any remotely good side. That is the bigger worry than anything right now.

Pogba and Matic were chasing shadows in midfield, and that's probably the worst game Pogba had for United. But, taking him off just took the engine out of the team and we threw in the towel with 30 mins to play. Disgusting.

A steaming pile of shite.
A performance with a lack of fight or any bottle that Moyes would have been embarrassed to witness.

Spurs won the game by pressing.

Not sure why when Pogba was so effective further up the pitch he would be asked to play deeper here. Makes no sense.

Great finish from Jones.

I hope Roy Keane and Alex Ferguson have barged into the dressing room and absolutely spitroast the team. Every single one of them should be made to walk back to Manchester tonight!
Amen to that!!

Playing Young at left back and Pogba in a midfield 2 were our downfall.

Jose on new contract. Mata, new contract. Sanchez here. The dynamic might not be all that great with with the hip dabbin' crowd, Pogba and Lingard. There I would suspect, is some of your problem. Maybe also Marouane on his way out. Jones, poor devil had a shocker. Pogba looked like he was in a sulk. To be fair, Spurs played really well. This is a critical moment, let's see how Jose handles it. I think there was a tactical mistake, which in fairness some in here (can't remember who, but three or four posters) observed, that for this game, we needed midfield strength. Herrera should have been on. Shaw, too. Rojo over Jones, but you can't see the future. Their goals were good, but kind of weird, too, so nothing to be too downhearted about. Just concentrate your minds on Stamford Bridge.
I dont think Herrera brings anything to the game. I havent seen him have a stand out performance in the premier any time he has been on, for a long time.

One of the worst performances I've seen. Pretty much accepted we weren't going to score by half time.

The pattern is crystal clear under this management. Nothing changes.

It's the manner of the defeat and the performance that is unacceptable.
It happens. We conceded after 10 seconds and never recovered from that. I think that the team that he put out didn't click and probably wasn't the right one against Spurs. We need to brush it off and move on to Huddersfield. That needs to be a win. You can lose a match but you need to win the next one.

The moment the team sheet come out I was kind worry. Every time a team sheet that all caf get exited about we always do bad is like a curse.

But that is no the reason lost today. First that early goal, team come out sleeping. Jones let Eriksen get in there like nothing. After that we seen to create some chances up front, but them come Jones and do the own goal. After that we shut down completely. Only Alexis looks like the one trying to do something. That was really shameful how the team shut down just because we were loosing 2-0.

No matter who we buy we look so lethargic while other teams are still full of running. We can't respond to a press.

We've been bossed around by the top 5 teams. Yes we beat Arsenal but got outplayed for 80 mins.

Well played Spurs, Jose don't talk crap in the post match interview, we were awful, end of.
Pick a MOTM out of that...
I picked Smalling. He saved a few very dangerous situations. Matic was heroic but it looked like Custers last stand. Jesus, but Paul Pogba can be lazy and cowardly by times.

@PoTMS - In the spirit of Roy Keane I've removed the infraction. Let's move on.
Fair enough, thanks.

We were gutless today. One of the worst performances since Fergie left. Luckily for us, we’re still second and 3 points ahead of our nearest challengers. We’ve also only got the Etihad to go to as well and the remaining top 6 we all play at OT.

We seriously need to sort our midfield out though. We need to move to a three man midfield because Pogba and Matic can’t do it on their own. It’ll also mean we need to move to 4-3-3 and one of Lukaku, Lingard, Alexis and Martial on the bench.

On the contrary, I support Mourinho. But I'm tired of excuses blaming tactics, formation, team selections etc.

Mourinho can't get us playing fluid attacking football with great pressing and defending at the same time. If you think we can achieve that anytime soon, I'll keep waiting here for you instead.
Again, you keep saying Mourinho can't do stuff so tell me who can and who you would bring in to do the job that you clearly think he is incapable of?

You can't say you support someone then say in the same sentence "Mourinho can't get us playing fluid attacking football". Why do we need to play that way to be successful? Is that the only way to play all of a sudden?

I feel like we win some games because we have superior players to other lower place teams. I don’t think we have any kind of system which improves the players we have.

Lukaku, Martial and Pogba being the three players who IMO could be SO much better.
It looks like we are not drilled to any combinations upfront.

I'l just repeat. Ad nauseam. WE'R POORLY COACHED! I'm not even bothering with earlier messages to see how many people may have said this. This was below poor. How can a team like United move and pass so Poorly? With almost zero synchrony or coordination?! It's criminal. Poor coaching lost us this game. Better coaching won it. Your midfield of Matic and Pogba is getting overrun and you change it to Matic and Fellaini???!!! Nothing left to say...

Poor tactics, poor performances all around and most importantly no real hunger. We went into the game like softies and continued like that until the end. Mourinho to blame, hope we learn from that and beat Huddersfield on Saturday.

Teams in the lower league tend to offer the traveling fans refunds for tickets and travel after performances like that.....

Not one player earned a score over 4 tonight, Matic, Martial and Lukaku scaped a 1, just. Words are failing me right now to describe how bad that was, we couldn't even manage to put a challenge in to do some damage to one of them, to ignite a reaction in ourselves. We'd be lucky to score by 2020 if the game had carried on indefinitely.

They need to get back to work in the morning, no days off after that and come out fighting on Saturday against Huddersfield. Nothing short than 5 or 6 goals against them will start to erase the memory of this game.

He is a decent player. A lot of the performances tonight were as a result of overload, greater committment by Spurs. Three would have held the ground better and Herrera wins the ball well in these situations, has good distribution and is good going forward. On another note, anyone hear what happened with Fellaini?

Is it possible for Manchester United and Spurs to switch managers?

Tonight was not down to Mourinho. The gameplan was thrown out the window after 10 seconds. He tried to change it, the players were atrocious.
Yes it was, he consistently brings up bad performances in big games. Yes, our team was absolutely shocking, but it's down to Mourinho. He's the one that is unable to make United compete in big games. I mean at least LvG beat the top 6... Mou's no longer a great manager, just a good one.

A loss is not disaster. But I'm really worry for Pogba's attitude. Seems the rumors about him envy with Sanchez's salary reasonable. How the heck Man Utd let a player get such a high wage? You could give him about 10 mil pounds and reduce the wage to prevent this posibility from happening. Breaking the salary structure is really bad strategy.

Remember when we were all enjoying the rollercoaster that was the Alexis Sanchez transfer thread?

I miss that. Much preferable to, you know, playing and losing.

First three right. Second two you are wrong. But for those two in particular it could have been very embarrassing.

Offensively our players dont look like they are executing a game plan and if they are, they arent doing a good job at it and this isnt the first time this has come up this season. Tossing Sanchez in the mix doesnt really help as the problem is deeper than that.
While i agree with that, i think today was more of a placement and personnel issue. A rookie mistakes and very naive at that is to give the middle away but not play on the counter. It's almost impossible to set the way we were and expect either control or ball retention. At the coach academy over here ( just began my official studies), they call this the Bird Underground ( weird, i know). It boils down to you having the team suitable for one style and then playing another.

We have no leader on the pitch. Valencia is no captain, despite being a great fullback. Sanchez's spirit is what you would like to see in a captain.

Kane has a very poor record against us. Only one goal, isn’t it?

You can lose a game but not like this. After 2.0 we gave up. Awful game from all players. It showed that we can't play attacking football with jones and smalling in defence. They are good only if we park the bus.

My worry is not 3 points lost. I am worried how things today will affect us. Pogba substitution? Playing with martial and sanchez at the same time?

Thats the kind of poison you do not fecking want in your dressing room. Its also a bad sign in that Pogba was relishing his own hype just a little too much. We may come back from this though, hopefully. Mou has a tricky job on hand

Embarrassing performance, especially in the second half. Where was the fight? Even if the tactics were not on point, I’d expect the players on the pitch to show some desire!

Apart from Sanchez, everyone was dead lethargic. The center backs, Matic and Pogba together were abysmal. I’ve felt in a few games previous to this one that there has been a lack in communication or coordination between Jones-Smalling and Matic. Matic has let his man go quite a few times in and around the box, nevertheless Smalling and Jones were pathetic which aggravated things further.

Also, Martial needs to be aware of the players around him and in the box, he could’ve passed it to Sanchez a couple of times he decided to take the shot. Really poor decision making in the first half and then a lack of drive in the second from Martial. Everything just seemed dire top to bottom.

Hope Jose reverts back to the 4-3-3 now which will free up Pogba along with the front three. Come on Jose get it done!

Nope. Highly paid professional players bottling it on the big stage was our downfall.
