I hope we give him a start, Yeovil are hardly world beaters and would be nice to see him given a proper run out.

The lad reminds me a bit of Bobby Zamora, he can hit the side netting from anywhere on the pitch ;).

Cant see him starting. Hes 17, a novice and the only way he will play is probably in the cups and only if were winning. If were winning say 3-0 with 20-25 mins to go he will get longer. Its alien to Mourinho, but has the weight of the club urging him to do it, so he compromises a little.

Because Gomes is a common portuguese surname i searched him and saw he can play for Angola and Portugal too, but he played only for England in the youth ranks. Did he ever made a statement about it, if he ponderates playing for a different country as a senior?

Whenever I saw Angel and Tahith, I am impressed. He is 17 now, and he has time to bulk up. But I am little concerned about his physicality. Of course, he has technical abilities But i reckon he needs to develop his physicality a little more ( both strength and pace and also bulk up a little more)

I believe he is Salford (google says London) born and raised and as such very much wants to play for England.

Massive thanks to Middlewich Town for signing his dad when Angel was a baby. Otherwise he'd be coming through at someone like Arsenal/Spurs now.

It's looking more and more he's going to be the youngster integrated in next season's first team. I'm perplexed because Mourinho's using him as wide-forward/forward, and I've been hearing people say he's a #8.

He has stated in an interview that his ambitions in football are to play for United and England seniors. He has been heavily involved as captain in probably England's best ever youth group. He could switch but it seems unlikely.

I was just thinking Gomes might start working now full time with the first team, because Ibrahimović might be leaving already. Completely different players, but makes sense to have an extra player, so we can have two per position at least in the attack. That, and specially Sánchez coming, might mean Rashford's going to play more and more in Lukaku's shadow, instead of Martial's.

Exactly what I was thinking but perhaps it's bit too hopeful.

He's the son of Gil (Gomes), an attacker who won the U20 World Cup for Portugal under Carlos Queirós in 1991, who's Angolan by birth, was part of Benfica's academy but never got a bright professional career, and he was suspected of being older than registered.

Yeah, mind you, I wasn't implying he'll get games this season or that he'll be an option as wide-forward on the left ahead of Rashford, of course not. But, if we have another easy FA Cup game at home, for instance, he might have a few minutes again.

He has got the United fire and fearlessness. I don't oversubscribe to the "he's too young" line of thinking. The working tradition at United is "if he's good enough he's old enough". He is just one of those talents that need unleashing. I just hope we continue our good form and now with Sanchez, we can put teams away more early and give him the opportunity to come on for some game time in the second half.

What can I say the kid is Magic.

McTominay's this season youngster, completely integrated.
He specified that the youngster he would bring up wouldn't just be playing the odd carling cup game but would be a regular on the first team sheet. I think Mctominay is being groomed for that

When did he specify that? It would be crazy of him to say that, so I really want you, if possible, to provide those statements.

Having reread these quotes I think I might have erred in interpreting them. Said there'd be another one after McTominay. Pardon my error

"I feel it like a way to keep a certain identity of the club. To keep that identity means, basically, we should bring a new player from the academy every season. You can bring someone to play 10 minutes, then the player disappears and then you can say, ‘Oh, 40 players have their debut with me.' But none of them are important.

"I think what is happening with Lingard and Rashford is now happening with Scott McTominay, because he is not going to leave the club any more. To follow a certain pathway is important. I am doing it with McTominay.
Mr. Van Gaal had the start of Rashford, I am having it with Scott McTominay and, next year, there should be another."

I would think that there will probably be both him and Tuanzebe breaking through next year, one would even suggest TFM will probably feature more prominently as well and you never know with Demi Mitchell, if he continues his early form with Hearts and gets a chance in pre season he could be a candidate as well.

Fair enough, he's making an important point, that it will be players he's going to stick with. I'm quite surprised he's saying McTominay won't leave the club anymore, cause I was expecting him to probably get a loan next season.

Not sure Tuanzebe, with only just a few months away, and even Fosu-Mensah are going to be part of next season's team come September.

Yeah, Gomes has amazing technique, balance, and feet. He just needs to make better use of it right now. He doesn't impose himself in games right now and his problem has always been that he hides. When he doesn't he produces. I labeled this criticism at him when he first made the step up to the u18s, and he eventually dominated that age group. Now he needs to do the same for the u23s.

I would say the best way he can do that is by upping the pace of his link up play by playing faster 1-2s as he can still get bullied off the ball when he dribbles.

I think he needs to be more brave on the ball, too often he just passes straight back if a player is anywhere near him.

I cant see that he has developed much the past two years.

Greenwoods talent excites me more. He strikes me as more complete/accomplished/«well rounded» as a player.
