I can't cope with the build up today. I'm negative enough without listening to Souness.

Has he said anything over the top yet?
How amazing Liverpool are, basically the entire pre-show has been about them. Wait out another half hour, don't listen to these miserable scouse bastards.

Have you even watched Liverpool? Their midfield even managed to dominate City's ffs
Yes, I have watched Liverpool play for 40 years now. In the past they have had plenty of midfielders who deserve huge credit and respect for their quality, but being afraid of playing Ox, Miller and Can - no way.

Thought as much. I mean, Liverpool are the form team, and they play some decent stuff, but I'd rather not listen to it.

That lineup:lol: not gonna be pretty this. Literally the only promising pqrt about it is bailly back, but he'll be rusty. Mata is best when we are dominating possession. Matic is best in a 3 and struggles otherwise. Mctominay is bang average but i guess no options. Salah is going to wreck Young like any half decent winger does (because young isn't a left back). No lingard is strange. No martial or pogba at all in the squad means we're fecked.

I like to think I'm generally pretty optimistic. But seeing that starting 11, I can't see anything other then a loss here. Hope we somehow manage a draw basically.

Lukaku to score 100th goal, and get no mention on Sky.
Young MOTM, Caf goes to meltdown.
Liverpool with one shot on target whole game, Souness and Caragher crying in the studio.
Lovren either scores OG, or responsible for penalty, gets a red card.
Klopp screamin and shouting at 4th referee, second half he is on the stand.
VVD gets ridiculed by Alexis, tons of memes later on.

    There, too much?

Its more our midfield that worries me, not theirs. It's only their front three that should concern us, on paper the rest of their team is amazingly average.

This lineup is too offensive. We will still park the bus but we don't look strong in the middle.

I have a feeling we're going to do a number on Liverpool today. A José masterclass. Klopp and Liverpool are a plan A side. 4-3-3, gegenpress. That's it. The only problem is their plan A is so fecking good. Hopefully we'll neutralise them and win.

Anyway, more in keeping with the thread, 1-5 Liverpool.

Why is everyone so overly-melodramatic!? Christ.

We're not fecking shit, and injuries aside, it's the strongest line-up Jose could've picked. We'll be fine, I hope, assuming we get through the first few minutes when we know they're going to go hell-for-leather at us.

Agree with this, having said that, they’re a man over in midfield so ours will have to work hard. If we can get on the front foot will give us a free man further forward

Neil Ashton is saying that the board backs Mourinho unconditionally and that he's already identified new players for the summer.

Would've liked to see Gomes or another youngster on the bench instead of Darmian to throw on as a gamble if needs be considering Lingard is the only attacker available.

The other options are Lingard, Fellaini, Carrick or Lindelof in. Whatever change you make wouldn't be significantly better than what is our lineup today.
Maybe, maybe not. McTominay and Matic 2 man midfield scares me.

It's irritating that Liverpool receive praise for their football because the quality of the first team (individually) really isn't up to much.

Can, Milner and Oxlade-Chamberlain? I mean, fecking hell. Lovren at centre half. Karius in goal. Their front are admittedly very good players but our first team, when fit, is so much more talented.

    Systems, I reckon.

Bailly's first start after his injury, both Mata and Rashford rewarded starts after their good performances previous game.

Not 5 defenders is slightly surprising, but a lot more positives going on attacks.

Lingard, Fellaini and Shaw on the bench as alternative attacking tactical options.

 Come on United, we got this! Hit their fragile defense hard.

Without Pogba, Sanchez has his chance to dictate the attack and build up as he so chooses. This should be a game where he can go all out and show his new club what he's all about.

I think it’s a bold lineup, I thought we’d have gone with 3 in Cm, and Lingard and Sanchez either side of Rom.

    Big game for McTom.

'van Dijk can score 10 goals in a season when he gets going'

If you were a casual football fan you'd think they are going on about new Beckenbauer.

Gomes is injured and I think Mourinho views Fellaini as an attacking option (long ball) if he was to put him in, or if we're winning he'd be another midfield option.

Liverpool will be buoyed by the lack of Pogba and Martial and go for the jugular, Sanchez will pick them off on the counter and then Lukaku will make it 2-0. Mourinho will go defensive, Salah will score with about 15 to go and after getting a bollocking on here for stupid tactics Utd will see out the game.

If it's not 4-3-3 then we're going to get overrun in midfield. Won't surprise me if Lukaku is isolated for most of the game as we're chasing Liverpool.

Think DDG will need to have another great game if we're to win this.

Pogba being injured is annoying, but no point risking him as the CL game is more important in the context of our season.

Let's not be so fearful for gods sake!!Theres a reason why we are still 2 points above them going into this game, and it's because we are quite a decent team too!I expect a big performance and 3 points today...

They have a set system and tactics that work against the majority of teams. They're well organised and everyone knows their job. We're kind of the exact opposite of all that, even though we have better talent.

He hasn’t played well since his purple patch in October - November.
It’s criminal that he keeps starting.
I honestly don't see much difference in Young's performances over the last two seasons. To me it seems sometimes he's praised, sometimes criticised for doing the exact same things.

Also that Rose and Alderweireld will be here next season.
2 Spurs players? Doubt they would agree with that. I think it'll just be one, Alderweireld, the likeliest. Rose will probably go elsewhere i.e. MCity.

In other words, City took their best RB, will Spurs give them their best LB? Do they need him?
Maybe, since Spendiola love fullbacks. There is speculation about Rose planning to go elsewhere since some summers ago, MCity is just an example. Not much good choice in EPL for him anyway. Selling 2 players to one big rival club in one transfer window is almost impossible, but to do it in different windows, perhaps. We kind of did get Carrick and Berbatov from Spurs, in different windows of course. Spurs doesn't seem mind as long as price is right, huge and not a single window.

 Okay, dear mod, conversing here is weird.
