Do they have any guarantee of winning Penalty shootouts ? I think them scoring an away goal will be more guarantee for them.
Perhaps, but it's a different risk. Anyway, you can't say they need to score when we don't have any advantage right now.

    According to M.E.N. (source).

    Travelling Squad

    Goalkeepers:
David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira

Defenders: Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelöf, Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw

Midfielders: Scott McTominay, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard

Forwards: Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez
It's odd to see Lingard listed as a midfielder, given that he's our second-from-top scorer. But hard to actually disagree, he's certainly more likely to be found dropping deep to pick the ball up and get it moving forward than anyone on the 'forwards' list there.

If Pogba undeservingly starts, then it's probably a 4-3-3 without Mata, so who's going to close the rightwing where Correa operates? Remember he gave Valencia an headache in the away game.
He wont be as adventurous as their main right back is injured and Layun is ineligible. They will play mercado there, who will need extra assistance . I expect them to well park the bus initially.

Anything can happen in penalty shootout. They are more likely to sit back defend and try the counter as one goal for them will mean we need 2. They wont want to score too early as that would really mean united have to go full attacking mode, which was too much for even chelsea.
Best strategy for sevilla is to absorb pressure in first half, and then wait for counter, follow this till 60-70 mins, then try and attack themselves, they will know even if united are 1-0 up in 80 mins, they still need just one goal.
Anything can happen in penalty shootout, that's why I can't see them defending and waiting for PK that they may lose.

I think they'll give it a go and that will suit us.

Unleash , Fellaini the striker if they sit back. Pretty sure they will not be able to defend that.

I'd like an unchanged XI from LFC. Hopefully Martial back on the bench. Massive game this. Can't afford to be sloppy at the back. Remember that John Guidetti moment? None of that. Hope we start fast, get an early goal.
Never a bad moment to remember this gem:
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, it's John Guidetti

If I remember correctly, he missed about three absolute sitters :D

That is the secret weapon. He will be on the bench, to defend or to attack. He is the special force of mourinho.

Correa plays as a very advanced leftwinger, as a leftwide-forward actually. You're talking about Sarabia.

We have perfect balance without Pogba. I'd not like to see that disrupted.

McTominay's been great, alright, but I'm still wondering if Mourinho isn't worried of starting such an inexperienced kid in such an important game.

And if it ended with Pogba on the bench and Mata, I'm wondering how he'll come as a sub considering Lingard, Martial and Fellaini will be tactically needed. If he's on the bench he'll probably play if we're (hopefully not) still 0-0 or down.

    Without Pogba:

    .................De gea..............
    Tony.....Bailey.....Smalling...Shaw
    .......Mctominay.....Matic.........
    ..Mata.......Sanchez.....Rashford
    .................Lukaku...........

    With Pogba starting:

    .................De gea..............
    Tony.....Bailey.....Smalling...Shaw
    ..................Matic...................
    .......Mctominay.....Pogba.........
    ..Sanchez...Lukaku...Rashford....

I want to see the team what started Saturday start tonight, leaving us good strong options off the bench.

    Romero
    Darmian
    Young
    Fellaini
    Pogba
    Lingard
    Martial

The problem with the Pogba starting option is that Sánchez has yet to play a game on the right for us. And this one will require special attention to Sevilla's Correa, their leftwinger.

Mata has to play, we've been a damn sight better with him in the team recently, he's gluing our attack together,

I honestly think we will go for the same team as Liverpool but with maybe Lindelof in for Bailly as a precaution potentially,

And then I'm sure Pogba and Martial will get a few minutes too later on

Saving Bailly as a precaution for more important games coming?:nono:

We need to beat Sevilla at home and score goals. Pogba walks back in.

I'd bring him in for Rashford and move Sanchez back out wide. Mata has been really good at getting involved centrally in recent games and I'd keep him in the side.

Ideally, we'll have all of Rashford, Lingard, Martial and Fellaini to bring on if needed.
So play Pogba as a wide left forward who isn't fit (or a forward) in place of a forward on the back of 2 goals against Liverpool?

sure. Wanna play Valencia wide right forward and perhaps play Ashley young as a 10? seeing as we're jus chucking players anywhere like

Spanish papers speculate Sevilla could surprisingly play a back 3 due to their rightback crisis, with Sarabia and Escudero as wingbacks, but it doesn't look probable.

Could be he isn’t fit to play two 90 min matches with only two days recovery in between.
Don't think it's a fitness issue, the guy's a beast. It could be the injury he felt in the last game, though. Anyone knows if it was the same he got sidelined for so long?

Lingard will serve a one-match European ban with his next booking.

Yep I agree, we played really good balanced football Saturday so there’s really no need to change to accommodate an out form midfielder who struggles defensively. Pogba is my favourite player at United but after Saturday I would prefer the team is unchanged ( Bailey fitness pending )

I can't believe this thread is only 6 pages.
Come on guys, this is one of the biggest matches we have had, in the last 3 years.
It is our entry into the quarter finals of the CL!

Arguably the biggest game of the season so far. can you imagine the absolute meltdown if we were to actually win this competition, literally would be a serious dilution of City's season, something I suspect the blue half of Mcr are secretly dreading!
If we win the CL, which is incredibly unlikely, many posters on here (who want him sacked) would go into melt down.

Unchanged Lineup for this one with Pogba, Martial and Lingard to come off the bench if things go south.
    Agreed on this.

Martial, Lingard, Lindelof, Shaw and Fellaini to start against Brighton.
For the Brighton game, I'd start exactly the same players we used for the LFC game (assuming that they do well against Sevilla).
We need have consistency going into these final games.
And those players demonstrated that they had the right mentality to fight hard in a match.
I do worry that if Pogba and Martial play, that they may not be prepared to fight hard, especially if the Brighton game turns into a scrappy affair.
I don't see any desperation to rotate the players so much, from game to game, with only 2 months of the season left.
