I wasn't expecting a good performance but I was expecting a win, that was dreadful on all fronts, Mourinho is hugely to blame with his selection, a cumbersome midfield that had nothing on the ball, no Mata and Rashford put on the wrong wing didn't help, but we basically palyed like a bunch of half arsed strangers having a Sunday kick about, Lukaku was the only one that did anything worthwhile.

I mean, will it be this bad next season? That's my only question.

Do you give this manager another £200m-£300m, or start over?

I don't see how it's not a legitimately quandary.
Money will solve nothing. Which players out there fit our playing style? None because we dont have one. We go for names.

Guess what, we will get more names next year, Bale etc but it won't make a difference.

Where was the urgency? We were just waiting for something to happen rather than grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. With the players we have we should have beaten these guys with relative ease.

The manager is answerable for this, no way we should be so cautious at home in a big Champions League game like this.

Terrible night
This.

It seems as though Mourinho is caught in two minds when he's in a position where he has to go for the win. His pragmatism always wins out though. Its really pathetic.

People will blame Mourinho for being too negative, but Sanchez was completely invisible the entire game as were Lingard to a lesser extent. Our midfield couldn't manage to move the ball forward and were completely outplayed by their midfield the entire game. Rashford tried to make something happen and Lukaku fought pretty well, but those are about the only slightly positive things. Shameful performance all around.
Exactly, most of the team was invisible - Sanchez and Pogba did nothing on a stage where they should show their class. It's not all on Jose.

Worse than Bilbao. Young and Smalling have no place in this team. I would include Fellaini but he is useful against lower league teams.

Sanchez was shit... Again! Rashford had his moments but was pretty terrible overall. Lingard was average. Pogba was shit when he came on.

No positives whatsoever. Feel sorry for the fans at the match to be fair.

Sevilla were better over the 2 games. We never had control. Once they brought on a good striker, they scored. Muriel was saving us from earlier embarrassment.

I expected to go out after the first leg but from a sucker punch away goal while 1-0 up.

That’s the difference between now and the Fergie years. Fergie would have gone all out attack from the first whistle tonight. Mourinho wanted to sneak a 1-0 win while boring everyone.

If it doesn’t get the trophies we want, can we please stop this style of play now?

Deflated. Abject. I have a lot of thoughts and opinions as to what happened this game but I’m too disappointed to even express myself right now.

See you in August

Mourinho is a coward.

Disgraceful playing like that at home, no urgency, sitting deep, standing off the opposition when it’s still 0-0 at home.

We should’ve been at them and attacking from the very first minute. What a joke.

Why would you change the lineup from Liverpool?

Either way abysmal performance from everyone bar Lukaku + Bailly, was deserved.

Usually I don't get mad at Utd losses, just disappointed, however this game triggered me. Mostly because of how awful Sevilla are.

The fact I cannot even be bothered to be angry says something. If the players don't care then why should we?

I would usually support Jose but how can you after that? Dreadful management and the players were every bit as disgraceful as the tactics. It's like a bad dream watching Utd post Fergie.

Awful approach from Jose and the players, seemingly little desire, and a lack of quality to boot, which wouldn’t matter as much if the former two points didn’t apply

Going to struggle to bring myself to watch much more this season. I know it's dramatic, but that was appalling. Absolutely woeful.

They should be absolutely ashamed when their paychecks drop this month.

10 years without CL is too long in my opinion. We cannot let this sort of medicority become acceptable. Our style of football is terrible. Our big name 90 million pound signing gets slagged off by pundits and most of our own fans. Mourinho needs to either sort it out next season or go for me.

Jose got served right for what he dishes out. Shit tactics, cowardly. He has so many world class attackers but gets nothing out of them. We look beyond clueless going forward or when we should dominate a game

This one is on Mourhino:
1). Rashford on Right
2). Every time we’ve had Alexis on the left we have struggled.
3). No Mata
4). No McTomminay
5). Take out Fellaini to bring in Pogba
6). You could sense their goal was coming but no tactical change from JM
7). Why did we show this team this much respect
8). Sanchez needs dropping

United had a dream but Seville... shall we say... shattered that dream. You still have the FA Cup to play for

Good wake up call. We are MILES from being a champs league contender. In 4 minutes, Ben Yedder outplayed what Pogba, Lukaku and Sanchez did over both legs.

I used to get really upset with bad results when I was younger, but as I've grown and matured I've put a lot of that behind me and don't let it get me down.

However, I feel absolutely devastated tonight. To watch those overpaid frauds put in a performance like that is such a bitter pill to swallow. Such a cowardly performance, I was spitting feathers, my throat is raw from the vitriol I spewed at my TV.

Why care so much, when they appear to care so little? Awful night lads, going to take me a few days to get over this one, just like the old days.

I'll come back for more though, I always do. Starting to lose faith in Mourinho though. Every time he starts to win me around we do something like this... Perhaps he just isn't the right man going forward.

Feels weird to think that Moyes oversaw our most successful CL campaign of the past six years.

Jose's ego got the better of him. Believed his own hype after the last 3 "tactical masterclasses" and went a step too far even for him. If you always try not to lose, you will lose sight of how to win.
How were the last 3 matches masterclasses? We went 2 goals down against Palace before we did anything.

I have officially given up on United ever being a force in the world of football. We are the new Liverpool, a has been team with no spine or determination to be a big team. With Jose at the helm, United's downfall will be even faster. United just plainly Su*cks.

I actually wonder if something happened in our preparations for this.

Did Mourinho want a defensive display and the players weren’t happy?

Something was so off with us. That wasn’t just a bad performance, it was an utterly bizarre 90 minutes.

Relationship between the manager and players will be severely tested now.

Mourinho pays too much respect to these teams. Away he should have gone for it. Tactics were to blame coz if players didn’t care why would they try attack only when losing and is the manager instructing them or it’s all just them n Jose is a fan like us praying they salvage something. De Gea looked disgusted at the end walking away.

I thought he was trash as well but Fellaini isn't winning us that game. Unless you think McTominay should have been brought on?
I thought Fellaini had a far better game than Pogba. That’s not saying much but as soon as he came on we looked like consceading.

Shite game, poor attitude, poor performance.... We got what we deserved. We are still building, we've only just got back in the CL and I wasn't expecting us to go all the way so meh. Just hope we address what needs to be addressed and improve on this.

We've had games like this under SAF and its not like we've been playing in the CL with a settled team for the least few seasons so I'm not going to too redcafe crybaby..... But we gotta show more fight from the get go.

I know we pace ourselves (coast thru half the match) and back our defence and our ability to score later on but its not great to watch and its high risk. Just go for it ffs....

Disappointed but I didn't expect much more so meh....

Well this is the level we are at. Not a top 8 team in europe. We basically lost against an average spanish side. Just not good enough.
Was just thinking this myself, top 16 team in Europe really is about our level.
Not happy with the style of football we play but can accept it for now if we winning, when we don't it just makes it harder to accept.

Just saw minute 60-70 again. Our back 4 passing the ball sideways and unable to get it forward because Sevilla had 3 players in a line in front of them. Can't understand that. Move, make some space, and get out. How difficult is that when you already have a tactical overload.

Jose will get battered for his tactics (rightly so), but some of that performance from the team was so disgraceful.

Maureen has had 5 transfer windows and we still have the worst back 4 in the league.

Valencia, Bailly, Smalling and Young are a joke and not good enough for the champioship.
That's harsh on Bailly I feel. There's a hell of a lot more to that awful performance than just the defence. It was our biggest euro game for years, played at preseason tempo in a preseason atmosphere.

I don't understand it. Can someone explain how we could execute a very good tactical plan almost to perfection vs Liverpool and then a few days later fail so miserably to do anything of note against Sevilla? Is it a lack of fitness? Was Jose trying to save stamina by lining up and playing so negatively? Can our players only be arsed for the biggest occasions? Did Jose simply underrate Sevilla?

I really don't get it and it makes me sad.

Deserved to go out. We were really poor over the 2 legs. Mourinho deserves the blame. Why Rashford started on the right, why Fellaini started, why Pogba continues to be played in a midfield 2, Why is Shaw out of favour are just some of the questions Mourinho needs to answer.
No one other than Lukaku seemed to be playing with any kind of urgency or effort. Everyone else was just going through the motions. The players body language was just so disappointing

We had the easiest tie but the most embarrassing result. I was delighted when we drew these chumps.

A disgraceful and cowardly performance (and tactics) over the two legs. Sevilla are shit and whoever gets them in the next round has pretty much got a by into the next round.

Our 'superstars' not good enough. Lukaku played well but should've finished at least one other chance, Sanchez is looking like more of a flop with every passing game, Pogba... the less said about him the better. He replaced the worst player on the pitch and then killed the game for us by playing even worse.

We made that French fella at the back look like prime Cannavaro and N'Zonzi look like Gattuso.

I feel absolutely sick and disgusted. We are so far off competing for anything significant its unreal.

Sevilla deserved victors. We got outclassed by a midtable La Liga side.

I guess De Boer had the last laugh after all.

Good night.

Everyone could see from the first 10 minutes what was going to happen. We were scared of going a goal down. Starting Fellaini was one of the worst selections I’ve seen and it breeds negativity. That was one of the most pathetic performances, from the management to the players, that I’ve seen.

Needed someone to give the players a rocket up theirs arses at HT...can anyone see Jose tearing up a dressing room? Not me. He doesn’t instill passion in the fans and I can’t him firing up his players. LVG has more passion in his left nutsack. fecking fuming. That was not United. That was shit on a stick, lethargic, passionless, reactive bag of wank
