Where was the urgency? We were just waiting for something to happen rather than grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. With the players we have we should have beaten these guys with relative ease.

The manager is answerable for this, no way we should be so cautious at home in a big Champions League game like this.

Terrible night

People say that they would rather win than play attacking football. I always say that I would want both. The thing is that this type of football is so infuriating when you lose.

HELLO
We just spent 160 minutes trying to nick a goal against an average Sevilla side.

Doesn’t get anymore cowardly than that.

All he had to do was not bring on Pogba and take off Sanchez for martial or mata he offered nothing tonight bar his constant loss of possession

Pathetic, arrogant performance. So much investment in this team yet still look so far of being a top side. Sanchez once again non existent, why is Fellaini at this club? His replacement, our £90 mill star man was somehow worse... should’ve been at them from the first minute but we floundered around like we had a divine right to the next round

We've too much quality attacking players to be performing like that, its truly shocking. Players are to blame partly, but the tactics are all on Jose, and they were absolutely embarrassing at home to a team of that level.

Another example of the need for a key change that it seems like nobody with the power to do so notices. Week after week, we're crying out for this minute tweak that will clearly improve matters and give a true reflection of the squad that we've built up.

Seriously, when can we give someone a 0 on the player ratings?

I got criticised previously for stating Mourinho is the problem with his medieval tactics and his team selections, so hopefully people will now realise he needs to be go this summer.

Someone tell me what is the obsession with playing Fellaini...picking him tonight was a contributor to our rhythm tonight.

If Woody is a man he would sack Mourinho!!!!

Probably our worst performance under Mourinho. Slept though the whole game. The players were bad but Mourinho picked the wrong team and wasn’t proactive enough to change it tonight. Sanchez is in the team on nothing but name.

Struggling to think of how much more Mourinho could have ballsed that up.

A disgraceful, cowardly, inept performance. Big big questions to be asked about Mourinho.

Shouldn't have started Fellaini
Mata > Alexis
Pogba is completely out of form, or injured.
Lukaku is great
Bailly will come good
Valencia is good, but offers nothing going forward

We've bought too many individuals and not thought about how they'll fit into a tactical team. "Ooooh, Pogba, must have him.... Sanchez, chuck him in too".

On top of that, we're not buying players with good mentality and/or Jose isnt instilling that (as Fergie managed to get in in players he brought through and players he bought). I'd rather have players with a great mentality and decent ability than the other way round.... tonight shows talent alone means diddly.

Shite.

To be outclassed by an utterly average side over two legs is the absolute definition of rock bottom...no one can try to give a justification of where this team other than a million miles away from where it needs to be.

it seems like there was only one outcome based on how we approached this game, our game plan was clearly going to haunt us.

Funny how we only seem to get this message when the team have lost.

Not sure I've ever seen a worse performance in a big game. They can all feck off, and Jose can join them. Crap tactics again and again.

Best team over two legs won, its that simple.
Agreed. I'm shocked we went out tonight but I didn't expect us to go any further. Posted as much after the 1st leg and got laughed at.

Question for me is what the hell was our players doing? Their attitude for the entire game was questionable, starting Fellaini was part of the problem, think it gave the players the wrong attitude. We needed to play our strongest 11, not a makeshift team. Sent the wrong message. Only Lukaku comes out of that game with credit for me.

We have a long way to go still to consider ourselves a top team in Europe.

This was on at 5:45 in the morning for me, was thinking about sleeping after, but I'm fecking seething. No chance I'll get any sleep now. Horrible performance. The only one who can keep his head held high is Lukaku, worked his ass of for 90 minutes and got a goal. The rest absolute rubbish. Feck Sanchez, he's absolutely useless at the moment.

I don't understand how many times Mourinho are going to "play the result" before he understands we collectively as a team shit ourselves when we're put under any sort of pressure for extended periods of time. We have to attack and set ourselves up early, we're Manchester United ffs! Cowardly tactics, an absolute disgrace by Mourinho made even worse when you look at our performance in Seville.

Neither Valencia or Young were absolute trash today, but we need upgrade on our fullbacks, they offer jack shit going forward, and we NEED someone on the right, we offer no threat going down that right hand side and it must be super easy to defend against seing you always know where the threat is coming from.

Pogba infuriates me with his nonchalant piece of shit football at times, we're down two goals and he just rolls the ball 40 yards out for a throw in? What the actual feck? He needs to step up massively, along with Sanchez.

What is reallyngrating is why wait till the 82nd minute to start playing with an intensity and actually go for the game. We should be playing like that from the first minute all the way through.

Non of this BS about how we control games from defending. That’s an absolute lie made up by Jose. If you don’t have the ball you aren’t controlling anything mate.

Mourinho went for a 0-0 draw away against Atletico in 13/14 and got punished for it. You have to score at least 1 away goal in the CL, otherwise it puts a lot of pressure on you if you concede a goal at home.

I'm avoiding the news for a week. Or a month. Embarrassing.

Tactics wrong. Selection wrong. Subs too late. Mourinho was asleep on the job or something? No top manager would make such basic errors, this was Moyesian levels or worse (Moyes got us to QF).

Lukaku and Bailly were the only ones who tried. Please drop the Chilean Rooney, had enough of him.

Mourinho shouldn't be sacked, as we are 2nd and still in the FA Cup, but he should forego his month's wages for this crap. Only way to wash off this sour taste would be to win the FA Cup, but I am not sure we can even beat the other Top 6 teams still in it.

And if Jose dares to complain about the atmosphere at OT again after this shitshow, then he really should be sacked. Sort yourself out before telling the fans off.

Jose needs to be told his tactics are not for United.

He should either change completely or shown the door.

Absolute shambolic tactics by the guy, I can accept losing but losing in this fashion is just horrific.

One of the worst performances I've seen in a CL match that mattered from United. Don't know why Mata didn't start. Tactics were poor in both games. Just a shit show.

I thought he was trash as well but Fellaini isn't winning us that game. Unless you think McTominay should have been brought on?

Mourinho needs to leave because there is an incompatiblity between what the fans want/the players are capable of and what he wants for his team. He's become a joke now, time to end it.

We were never going to score. We spent 180 mins passing it around our back four and matic. If it reached an attacking player they'd try beat 8 players and score a 40 yard screamer. Lukaku barely touched the ball in either leg.
Just look very dysfunctional really. If were being honest i dont think the liverpool game was that different. Seville can defend kick outs by a keeper is about the only difference. Suppose when you score 2 goals its a lot more acceptable to create feck all but we give posession away cheaply as a matter of routine every week.

Considering how shit United were in both legs we deserve to go out. Sevilla are a decent team but nothing more than that, should've beaten them with the caliber of players we have but we played like cowards in both legs. This one is down to the manager imo his selection and tactics far too negative when we have seen that this squad is capable of more, hes capable of more. Its disheartening to know that our season is (again) over in March with only the FA Cup to play for.

Mourinho deserves the shit-storm that's waiting. Pogba and Sanchez should take a good look at themselves, fecking terrible displays. Lukaku and Bailly are the only ones that can walk away with their heads held high.

Maureen has had 5 transfer windows and we still have the worst back 4 in the league.

Valencia, Bailly, Smalling and Young are a joke and not good enough for the champioship.

180 minutes of pathetic football, pathetic attitude and pathetic commitment and we are deservedly out.

I say this reluctantly, but that was an embarrassment. A genuine embarrassment.

Wrong tactics.
Wrong selection.
Wrong attitude.

Terrible performance.

Sevilla were awful in the first half, we should have been well ahead.
Pretty much this. The players were all poor and the manager's tactics and delayed substitutions were suspect to say the least. Absolutely pathetic.

My name suggests I was a big Pogba fan but it wouldn't bother me if he left in summer. But for some reason I feel it's Jose that has him playing like this.

I have defended Jose multiple times.

Not tonight. Losing to this below average Spanish side over 2 legs is all his doing. Playing for 0-0 away is never a good option in my book. But then to basically play for 0-0 at home too? I'm sorry, but when you put Fellaini on the field, that's what you do. Because you're playing route one football and hoping to get on knock downs. And you leave Sanchez on the field when he's playing like that? It's just not good enough.

And of course then Pogba comes on. Ball watches, 1-0, game over. Thanks Paul.

Well Jose, team selection wrong. Tactics wrong. Substitutions wrong.

Mourinho is a coward and an idiot.

0-0 in the away game is always a dangerous result. You know you need to win or you are probably out of it. If you know you need to win you play all guns blazing, score 2-3 goals and you can think about taking your foot of the pedal and start consolidating what you have but untill then you should be attacking like men possessed. You start defending from the start and hope the other team won't score and you can knick by with a goal, well that is first of all very risky and secondly it is not what the fans want to see either.

Mourinho overestimates the quality of his defence as has been shown today, Sevilla got plenty of chances and they were bound to score eventually.

Mourinho underestimates the quality of his offence. You give Lukaku, Rashford, Sanchez, Lingard the freedom to go all out in attack and there is a very good chance you score a couple of goals.

I don't like Jose, I think I never will, don't feel like he is a united manager and I don't think he will win us any meaningfull silverware (EPL an CL).

It was up there with Milan away second leg in 2007 as the worst I've witnessed in the CL knockout stage. At least Milan was a great side though granted aging and there for the taking that night.

Terrible performance. Starts with Mourinho. That starting XI was not suitable for an European game, especially the midfield. Made worse by equally pathetic display from players. Not sure who to give MoM too. Maybe Lukaku as he cares the most and keeps trying.
