Most of Koln's problems though have been due to their ineptness at replacing Modeste. Not a problem at Dortmund with all the firepower they have. Koln were pretty good last season.
To be fair he also got them into the EL last year. He also was the last manager who won the title in Austria and didn't manage RB Salzburg. So he is a solid manager, not sure if he is good enough or the right one for Dortmund, but he only got a contract till summer 2018. He can't be worse than Bosz and thex still can go for Nagelsmann or another manager if they are not hapoy with him. It's not like there were many candidates outthere.
Not to sure about this deal appointment but neither seem the Dortmund officials, given that he has only a contract until the end of the year.

He was their longest serving manager of all time (feat in itself in Köln...), he brought them up in his first season, safely secured them from relegation in his second, was the first to reach a single digit league finish in 24 years the year after and the first to reach a European cup with them in 25 years last season. He’s a decent manager.
You'd almost get the impression Peter Bosz is not quite the revolutionary genius some of my Ajax loving fellow countrymen made him out to be.

Given that Dortmund were already taking a serious look at Stöger last summer, for the "real" job and even went as far as interviewing him they can probably count themselves lucky to be able to acquire him as an interim.
I'm not overly concerned about Cologne's performance this season, he had four good years of steady improvement before that and their troubles mostly stem from squad planning anyway imho. As long as he isn't burned out by it that really shouldn't matter.
Tactically I'm a bit concerned about his attacking qualities, but on the other hand Dortmund are stacked at the front and at the moment desperately need a well organized defense, something which was Stöger's particular strong suit at Cologne.

In general I think the ridicule for him is over the top. There is this cliche about the stubborn Dutchman, but the reality is that he addressed his team's problems tactially and showed some flexibility, by playing deeper, using a back 3, using both Sahin and Weigl to help with the team's troubles in build up, though of course one might question whether it took him too long to adjust. But what's happening at Dortmund goes way beyond that, something's wrong in the heads of the players. In the end Bosz was rightfully fired, because the match against Bremen made it unequivocally clear that he got nowhere near solving this mental problem, but since this is a pretty extreme situation I wouldn't say that makes him a bad coach.

People should try to get over Tuchel. He wasn't fired because Watzke hates him or in an effort to keep Mislintat and he wasn't fired because the club weren't satisfied with the sporting side of things either. He simply didn't fit on an interpersonal level. And when you have a coach with only one year left on his contract, who is at odds with the management and with your highly esteemed scout and with leading players of the squad, then you rather make the switch on the bench a year early.

I just don't get how you start so well and then turn to utter shit. Yeah ok they played shit teams at the start but things like giving away a 4-0 lead at home and losing against Bremen at home I mean come on man, that's on the players surely?
If I were to guess I'd say it started with the first match vs Real, the way they exploited Dortmund's back line time and time again was probably a big blow for their confidence. Then a week after that Piszczek got injured and Toljan and Bürki kept playing like a pair of frightened school girls and soon their shakyness spread and eroded the entire defense/team. Weigl being in abyssmal form and a non factor in critical build up situation probably didn't help either.

What exactly weren't they satisfied with on the sporting side? Reaching the CL quarter finals, winning the cup and qualifying for the CL after losing the core of the team in Gundogan, Hummels and Mkhitaryan? Integrating and developing youngsters like Pulisic and Dembele? They were morons to sack him and I'm glad its showing.

Dortmund needs to find a good quality CL CB to build the defence around. Said it before but should be targeting players like Manolas and Gilk.
I just don't understand them signing Yarmolenko for 20m + when they already have loads of attacking players. Spend that on a CB instead.

Odd how many of the german managers are scruffy for the domestic games and then put a suit and tie on for the european matches. Klopp always did this for some reason.

I´m all for having a go at Dortmund´s business of the last 24 months, but the guy just had his lawyer read a statement in court, because he couldn´t deal with appearing personally and that he is still having nightmares, panic attacks and bouts with fear to die. In a press release he later said everything is fine. You can now guess where he lied. In court or to the press. He clearly need to get away from the place/club associated with the attacks. Maybe going back to Spain will help.So, I guess we can now conclude that Bartra has not turned out great for BVB. Who would've thought

I think he's doing badly. He's stabilized them somewhat in that they stopped losing in the league, but that cannot be the bar.
The football is dire, the results are meager, the performances dull and weak. The Europa League showing vs Atalanta and now Salzburg were disgraceful, AND they are still behind Schalke in the league.

Especially their trademark of developing exciting youngsters. For example, I can see Pulisic wanting out in summer, and he won't be the only one.
So surely, Stöger can only be a stop gap, and they'll get a better fitting manager in summer? Or are they hell bent on ruining themselves?
